Department of Animation organised two days workshop on 2D Animation for I, II and III year Animation Students. Industrial Expert, Mr.C.Alagappa, 2D Animator, Chu Chu TV, Chennai was the Guest Lecturer. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Instructor delivered Welcome Address. Dr.K.Archunan, Vice Principal delivered Presidential Address and Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Department, Introduced the Guest Lecturer & spoke about the importance of Workshop. Guest Lecturer Mr.C.Alagappa, spoke about the opportunities in the industry and shared his industrial experiences. He taught students about Basic Perspective concepts, Back Ground designing, Character Turn around & Animation in Animate CC and also clarified the students doubts. Mr.Priya Dharshan, III-B.Sc Animation, delivered the Vote of thanks. Department Faculties Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar – Coordinator, Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar – Instructor, Mr.M.Purushothaman – Instructor, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar – Instructor played a key role in conducting workshop.
Oviyam and Animation Workshop 2018
Date: 18 & 19 Apr 2018
A career guidance program, “Oviyam & Animation Workshop2018” was organized by the Department of Animation, SLCS and DINAMALAR for the +2 students. The objective of the program was to train the students to get knowledge about Animation, Drawing and Sculpting concepts and to make them realize their importance in Industries. The Program presided over by Dr. P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS and was felicitated by Dr.K.Archunan, Vice Principal, SLCS.
It was a two day program (18th & 19th April 2018) which involved the active participation of students in creating drawings and paintings as performed by the guest artists, namely, Mr. S. Sivabalan, M.F.A., Watercolor Artist and Mr.Ilayaraja, M.F.A., Freelancing Artist, Chennai. Students used the Animation Lab facilities to create their own animation shots as directed and coordinated by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Instructor, in 3D Animation techniques. Mr. N.Naveendra Kumar, Instructor, explained 2D Animation concepts and Mr. M. Purushothaman, Instructor, gave a demo on VFX techniques (Green matte shots) to the students and parents. Mr. V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator of the Animation Department, played a key role in all arrangements.
Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Animation-HoD gave a great speech on the growth aspects of the Animation Industry and also proposed the vote of thanks. Participation Certificates were distributed to all the students.
The participants greatly benefited from and thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and gave positive feedback about the program. The program was useful in bringing out the creative skills of the participants
சுடுமண் சிற்பம் செதுக்கும் பயிற்சிப்பட்டறை
சுப்புலெட்சுமி லெட்சுபதி அறிவியல் கல்லூரியில் அனிமேஷன்துறை சார்பாக19.02.2018 திங்கட்கிழமை தொடங்கி இரண்டு நாட்களுக்கு களிமண்ணில் சுடுமண்சிற்பம் செதுக்கும் பயிற்சிப்பட்டறை நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. துவக்க விழாவில்துறைத்தலைவர் திரு.P.திருநாவுக்கரசு வரவேற்புரை நல்கினார். கல்லூரிதுணைமுதல்வர் திரு.அர்ச்சுனன் அவர்கள் தலைமையுரை ஆற்றினார்.சிற்பத்துறை வல்லுநர்கள் திரு.S.திஷாந்த், திரு.M.செல்வம், மற்றும் திரு.P .ராமராஜன் ஆகியோர் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாக கலந்து கொண்டூ அனிமேஷன்துறை மாணவர்களுக்கு பயிற்சி அளித்தனர். அனிமேஷன் துறை பேராசிரியர்திரு.V.செந்தில்குமார் நன்றியுரையாற்றினார்.
International Animation Day 2017
We celebrated International Animation Day 2017 for two days on 5th & 6th January 2018. Industrial Experts Mr. Pradeep from Prism & pixels, Chennai, Mr. VijayaKanth, Matte Painting Artists, Chennai and Mr. Alagappa, 2D Animator, Chennai were Guest Lecturers.
Day: 01
Ms.Saranya, II Animaton welcomed the Gathering, the program was presided over by our College Principal Dr. P. Saravanan and Vice principal Mr. K. Archunan addressed the Felicitation address. Our department Head Mr. P. Thirunavukkarasu, Introduced the Chief guests Mr. Pradeep, Business Development – VFX Executive Producer, Mr. Vijaykanth, Matte painting artist, Gemini Studios, Chennai.

He mentioned that our students are doing well in Industries; they are giving amazing outputs in short duration of training. He also explained about the MoU signed between our college and Prism & Pixel, Chennai, In future they are also going to train our students regularly by their industrial experts.
Followed by Mr. Pradeep, our chief guest Mr. Vijaykanth, Matte painting artist from Gemini studios, Chennai spoke to the students about current openings and scope of Animation in industry today.
Our respectable Principal and Vice principal honored the Chief Guests by presenting the shawl and memento.
Mr. Vijaykanth conducted workshop and gave demo on “How to do an Matte painting”. At the end of session, our department faculties and the Industrial experts discussed about the syllabus, arranging training classes by industrial Persons and updating the softwares.
Day: 02
Our department Coordinator Mr. Chenthil Kumar welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guests Mr. Alagappa, 2D Animator, Chu Chu TV, and Chennai.
Our chief guests spoke about the development of 2D animation techniques in the field. He also conducted class including,
Walk cycle, Turnaround of the character and designing BG for 2D Animation, based on lighting & shadows balancing, concentrating in colors of the BG etc.,
At the end of the session, Ms. Vibitha from I Animation delivered the “Vote of thanks”. Program ends with National Anthem.
CAREER COUNSELLING ON “OPPORTUNITIES IN 3D FIELD”
Our alumni Ms. G.Durga Devi, 3D Artist, Make Real Media, and Chennai conducted a session on “opportunities in 3D Field” for our II Animation students on 19th December 2017.
Mr. Purushothaman, Instructor, Dept. of Animation, introduced her to the students.She spoke about the current situation of the Industry. Also shared her experiences in industry with the students.

Field Visit to Azhagar Kovil
A Study and Field Visit tour was arranged for the 1st year Animation students to Alagarkovil to improve their knowledge in Photography and Drawing skills.
Mr. P. Thirunavukkarasu (H.O.D, Animation), Mr. V. Chenthil Kumar (Coordinator, Animation) and Ms. N. Selvi (Asst Prof, Dept. of Tamil) were accompanied the 50 students. Students were taught Photography and drawing by the staff members, they practiced drawing and live portrait sketches. It was a one day tour. The tour started at 9.00 AM and was over by 3.45 PM.
