On the Inauguration Day (28.10.2020), Artist Mr.Trotsky Marudu, Kalaimamani Awardee, a great Artist, VFX & Art Director was invited as a Special Guest.  He delivered a inspiring speech on the Topic “A Day with an Artist”. He narrated his childhood life and the magnificent vision of films in olden days. He also mentioned lot of World Movies and the names of various films which have created a strong impact on society as well as in the film industry. He advised the students to learn about the Traditional Methods which, according to him, will be useful for their strong foundation. After his speech, students clarified their doubts with the Guest. Ms.I.Swetha of II Animation proposed the vote of thanks.

Totally 100 students from the department of the college participated in the event.

The “DP Roy Choudhury Association” and “Art & Media Club” of the Department of Animation organized an Intra College webinar series associated with “Internal Quality Assurance Cell” of our college, titled “Kadhaipoma”. The first session “Kadhaipoma – Live Technical Session on Concept Art” was conducted on 06.07.2020, Monday during 10:30 A.M to 11:30 A.M using Google Meet. Mr. Sathish Kumar, Freelance Concept Artist, Bangalore, our Alumni (2011-14 Batch) with experience in film and game companies such as Technicolor, Ubisoft. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Instructor, delivered the Welcome Address. Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator, Introduced the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address about the webinar. Our chief guest Mr. Sathish Kumar shared his industry experiences and showed a demo on Concept Art and answered all the questions of our students technically. Ms.Swetha, I Animation proposed the Vote of Thanks. Totally 100 Animation students of I & II year attended the session and gave positive feedback about the session.

Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Instructor, delivered the Welcome Address. Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal, delivered the Presidential Address. Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator, Introduced the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address about the webinar. Our chief guest Mr.Boopathi Selvaraj, shared his industry experiences and answered all the questions of our students technically.Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Instructor proposed the Vote of Thanks. Totally 150 students from various departments of our college attended the session and gave positive feedback about the session.

A Clay Modeling workshop was organized by the Animation Department for all the 1st and 2nd year Animation Students on 10.02.2020 & 11.02.2020. It was a 2 day workshop conducted in the drawing hall. Guest lecturers Mr.Sakthivel.,M.F.A., and Mr.Radhakrishnan.,M.F.A., (Sculptors) demonstrated clay modelling to the students. The complete structure took 2 days to complete. Ms.R.Subhiksha, II Year Animation delivered the welcome address. Dr.R.Sujatha, Vice Principal delivered the presidential address. Dr.S.Priya, Dean – Academics, delivered the felicitation address. Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, HoD, introduced the Chief Guests and detailed the information of the workshop. Ms.B.Swetha, I Year Animation delivered the welcome address in the Inauguration. All students of animation participated and prepared their clay models with lots of creative ideas. Department Faculty Members Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator, Mr.M.Purusothaman, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim Instructors made all the arrangements. Overall, it was a fun filled and aesthetic workshop

The Department of Animation inaugurated the Art & Media Club on 03.02.2020 (Monday) at Seminar Hall. The program started with a prayer song. Mr.Gokulram of II year Animation welcomed the gathering. The special address was given by Mr.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator, Department of Animation who gave a wonderful lecture about the Art and its history. Mr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Animation Department delivered a fabulous talk on the Importance of Communication and also spoke about the various incidents of foreign countries wherein their eminent artists and sculptures made their country proud. Ms. Hema of II year Food Science and Processing Management proposed the vote of thanks. The program ended with the National Anthem.

The Department of Animation commemorated the Memorial Day of Mahatma Gandhi on 30.01.2020 (Thursday) at the Seminar Hall. The program started with a prayer song. Ms.Subhiksha of II year Animation welcomed the gathering. The special address was given by Dr. S.Priya, Dean-Academics who quoted a few incidents of  Mahatma Gandhi that made him the Father of our Nation. Ms I. Swetha from I Year Animation delivered a wonderful speech on the life of our National Leader and Independence movement.  Mr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Animation Department delivered a fabulous talk on World Wars and also of Ahimsha’s power, which made our country free from the British. Finally Ms. B. Swetha of I year Animation proposed the vote of thanks.  The program ended with the National Anthem.

The Department of Animation organised a three day workshop on 2D Animation, Storyboarding, Digital Matte Painting and 3D Animation for I and II year Animation Students on 25.12.2019 (Wednesday), 26.12.2019 (Thursday) and 28.12.2019 (Saturday). Industrial Experts Mr.C.Alagappa, 2D Animator, CHU CHU TV, Chennai, Artist Mr.Ravi Pallete, Madurai, Mr.Gopi, Digital Matte Paint Artist and Mr.Jeyabalan, 3D Animator, Knack Studio, Chennai were the Chief Guests. Ms.J.Nivetha, II B.Sc. Animation, Student Executive, DP Roy Choudhry Students’ Association  delivered the Welcome Address. Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Department, Introduced the Chief Guest & spoke about the importance of Workshop. The Principal Dr.B.Ramamoorthy, delivered the Presidential Address. IQAC Advisor Dr.R.L.Ramnath delivered the Felicitation Address. Dr.S.Priya, Dean – Academics, delivered the keynote address. Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator of the Department, spoke about the Salient Features of the Workshop. Guest Lecturers shared their industrial experiences and taught the students about Basic Perspective concepts, Background designing, Character Turn around & Animation, Story Boarding, Matte Painting Techniques and also clarified the students’ doubts. Ms.B.Swetha, I – B.Sc. Animation, delivered the Vote of thanks. Department Faculty Members Mr.M.Purushothaman, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar and Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim played a key role in conducting the workshop.

Our alumni Mr.S.Kalaiappan (2015-18 Batch), VFX Artist, IGENE, Chennai conducted a workshop on “Career Guidance – Scope for Rotoscopy Artist” for our II & III Animation students on 08^th November 2019. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar Instructor, Dept. of Animation introduced the guest to the students. Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Mr. M. Purushothamanand  Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim has done the arrangements. He spoke about the current situation & opportunities in the industry and shared his working experiences with the students.

Department of Animation, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & 2ADPro, A Multinational Company from Chennai organised Campus Recruitment Drive for the students of III year B.Sc Animation. Around 30 Students were selected. Mr.Nirmal, HR Manager & Mr.Ramesh Dhanasekaran, Head-Training Division from the company conducted the Interview. A Training programme was organised for the shortlisted candidates for the period of Two Months (August& September) by the company at the College. The Trainers from the Concerned Company Mr. Murali, Ms. Chitra & Ms. Malathy trained the students about their Company`s Structure, Values, Workflow and Procedures. They also arranged student recreation programmes and artistic activities like celebrating Halloween Day, Outbound Training, and Fireless Cooking etc. The students Training program was an experiential learning and very useful to them.
