Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science felt very proud to have a Memorandum of Understanding with the well known M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation and AHANA Hospitals Madurai on 31^st July 2017. Along with the Signing Ceremony of MOU the college also inaugurated a Student Support Center.

The principal SLCS Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the gathering. Executive editor of Sagar Sandesh Dr. G.R. Balakrishnan explained the objectives of the initiative of this Student Support Center. Our President Dr.R.Lakshmipathy preside the Presidential Address. In his presidential address he explained that the Student Support Center along with the help of this MOU will really benefit the students of our college. The Controller of the Examination Dr.R.L.Ramnath introduced the Chief Guest Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer, Founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation.

Signing Ceremony of the MOU and the Student Support Center Inaugural Address was given by our Guest Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer and Founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation. In his inaugural address he made the students to understand about the magnetic waves which surround us at all time.

The felicitations were given by the Guests Prof.G.Guru Bharathy Principal of M.S. Chellamuthu Institute of Mental Health & Rehabilitation, Dr.Vikhram Ramasubramanian, Director of Ahana Hospitals Madurai and Dr.M.Kannan Honorary Consultant Research of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation. They explained about the Students Support Center and that was really an eye opening session for all Faculty and Students. Finally Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Coordinator proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self and to the self. Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy college of Science in association with Young Indian & Confederation of Indian Industry jointly commemorated International Yoga Day on 21^st July, 2017.

Mr.Vijaya Darshan Jeevagan Chair in Young Indian Industry Madurai Chapter and Partner in Wallai Restaurants and Caterers gave the Welcome Remarks. He stated that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being.

Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal SLCS delivered the special address that Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being.

Ms.Racha Binani, Immediate Past Chair in Young Indian Industry Madurai, Teacher in Art of Living and Director of Kidss Talk Pvt. Ltd. explained the theme of the Intenational Yoga Day is Yoga health. The aim is to highlight a holistic approach to yoga, which focuses on both physical and mental well being.

Ms. Alamelu Mangai Teacher from Art of Living performed the asanas in front of the students. All the Faculty members and the students actively participated by doing the asanas. The Intenational Yoga Day was really an eye opening day for the students.

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and RL Institute of Management Studies organized the Freshers’ Day Programme on July 1^st, 2017 in the college Auditorium. The morning session started at 10.30 am for the departments of Animation, Marine Catering & Hotel Management, Networking, Fire & Industrial Safety and MBA. Afternoon session started by 2.30 pm for the departments Commerce, BBA Logistics & Shipping Management, Computer Science & Security Systems and Visual Communication.

Around 450 students along with their parents participated in the programme. Our Principal Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the gathering. Mr.C.Manikandan Head Department of Visual Communication elucidated about the College infrastructure. Mr.Rajesh Kumar, Head Department of Logistics & Shipping Management gave details about the College and Mr.K.Archunan, Vice Principal, SLCS explained about the Hostel system. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head department of Computer Science & Security Systems spoke about the women affairs. The programme ended with the Vote of Thanks by Mr.P,Thirunavukarasu, Head Department of Animation. The students were taken on a Campus Visit by All the Head of the Departments.

The 23^rd Annual Day of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & RL Institute of Management Studies was celebrated on 25^th February 2017 at the College Auditorium in a grand manner. The welcome address was given by the Co-ordinator of the Program,  Mrs.Suganthi Hepzibha, Asst. Professor ,English and the introduction of the Chief Guest was done by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Navarathinam. The Chief Guest of the Function was Mr.K.Velusamy ,General Manager, Canara Bank ,Madurai Circle. Mr.Shanmugam , Deputy Manager , Canara Bank a ccompanied with the chief guest.

Our College President,   Dr.R.Lakshmipathy presided over the function and gave an eloquent presidential address about the College growth & Autonomy. He also insisted the students to learn for better living and to develop their skills & knowledge to achieve their goals. The president wishes all the students in the campus to be gainfully employed with discipline and become responsible citizens of our Nation.

The Chief Guest Mr.K.Velusamy explained about the Canara Bank, which provides many financial services to the customers like Educational Loan, Home Loan, Jewel Loan etc. For a student’s welfare the educational loan facilities are given at a maximum of Rs.7500 Crores. Out of these amount Rs.3600 Crores for Tamilnadu. Without any assurance, the students can avail educational loan of Rs.7.5 lakhs. He also highlighted the MoU signing of Canara Bank with SLCS & RLIMS. He explained about the Career Opportunities in Banking Sector & advised the students to utilize the wonderful facilities available in SLCS & RLIMS.

            Dr.R.L.Ramanth, Principal SLCS presented the Annual report of the college for the Academic Year 2016- 17. Dr.S.Pugalanthi, Deputy Director RLIMS presented the annual report of RLIMS for the year 2016-17.

Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest to the students for Proficiency in academics, various competitions, best outgoing students for both Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and RL Institute of Management Studies.

The College Management recognized the faculty members and presented gifts for their exemplary services.

         Mrs.V.Padmavathy ,HoD of Commerce & Assistant Coordinator of the Annual Day delivered the vote of thanks for the wonderful function.

On 19.2.2017 , the 22^nd Sports day was celebrated by SLCS & RLIMS. Dr. R.L.RAMNATH Principal, SLCS presided over the function .The felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal, Mr. K.ARCHUNAN. our Chief guest, Dr. K.CHANDRASEKARAN, Professor & Head ,Department of Physical Education ,Madurai Kamaraj University addressed the gathering with his motivational speech . He insisted that the students must develop their physical & mental strength .He also quoted the thoughts of Dr. A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM, the students of our country can manage this 21^st century only if they have both mental & physical strength. Mr. P.THANGAMUTHU Physical Director of SLCS & RLIMS delivered the Annual Sports Report. The students of SLCS & RLIMS exposed their talents through various events like March-past, Aerobics, Karate, Gymnastic etc.

The students & the staff members were encouraged by the prizes and the prizes ware distributed by our Chief guest Dr. K.CHANDRASEKARAN. The overall winner is Challengers team & runner is Rockers team.

Madurai Productivity Council (MPC) celebrated National Productivity week from 12^th t0 18^th February 2017.Various events were conducted in various places of Madurai. As a part of it Students’ Day was celebrated on 13.02.2017 ,a full Day programme for students and research scholars in the SLCS Auditorium.The theme was “ From Waste to Profit Through Reduce, Recycle and Reuse”.Prof.G.Subramanian , former Director of RLIMS presided over the function. The felicitation address was given by Dr.R.Thiruvengadasamy , Director CCE, Kalasalingam University.The Chief guest was Dr.R.L.Ramnath, Principal , SLCS who delivered a wonderful speech regarding the theme.Many students & Research scholars from various colleges participated in the events like Paper presentations, Project presentations & Panel discussion.

Our Honorable President , Dr.R.Lakshmipathy gave the valedictory & encouraged the participants and the winners by distributing the prize. The session was ended with vote of thanks by Mr.V.S.Suresh Babu ,CEO of Suresh Marketing Associate.

Election Awareness Programme was held at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science on 11.11.2016. The Madurai District Collector Mr.K.Veera Raghava Rao, IAS., was invited as the Chief Guest. Students from various departments actively participated. A skit highlighting the theme that “Never sell your votes, and new voters should never hesitate for voting” was enacted. New voters were given a voting demo using a simulator voting machine. The Madurai District Collector Mr.K.Veera Raghava Rao, IAS., delivered the special address. The election oath was taken by the students in the presence of the Collector.

The programme was presided by the college principal Dr.R.L.Ramnath. The Vice Principal Mr.K.Archunan welcomed the gathering. NSS Coordinator Mr.S.Kumar delivered the vote of thanks. Management Executive Mr.Ramkumar, Director – RLIMS Dr.S.Rajasekar, Tashildar, Revenue Inspector, Village Administrative Officer participated. The programme arrangements were made by the Public Relations Officer Mr.K.Rajesh Kumar.

Central Vigilance Commission, the Premier Integrity and Anti-Corruption Institution of our country observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 from 31.10.2016 to 05.11.2016. The objective of observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 is to create public awareness against corruption and for ensuring a wider outreach especially for creation of awareness on corruption and its effects amongst the youth and college students. SLCS as a stake holder also observed this program with a great effort. As a part of this program, as an outreach initiative, NTPL propose to organize the following program in our esteemed campus with an objective to create impactful awareness on the young minds of the students.

The theme of this year is “Public Participation in promoting Integrity and Eradicating Corruption.” Based on the theme various competitions like Elocution competition in Tamil and English and Essay competition in Tamil & English were conducted. Around 15 students participated in Tamil and English Elocution competition and 40 students in Tamil & English Essay competition.

A special Lecture program was also arranged and organized on 3^rd November, 2016 at the SLCS auditorium. Shri.M.Suresh, Dy. General Manager/Vigilance welcomed the gathering. Our President Dr.R.Lakshmipathy gave his presidential address. Followed by him Shri.M.Prabhagar, GM/O&M and Shri.A.R.Neelakanta Pillai, CEO, NTPL, Tuticorin gave the felicitation address. Lime Ganesh, gave a special lecture on the eradication of corruption. The competition winners of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 were motivated by issuing awards and certificates. Finally, Shri.A.Perumalsamy, DGM/HR gave his vote of thanks and the program wound up patriotically.
