Recent Trends In Biodiversity Conservation

A seminar on “RECENT TRENDS IN BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION” in environment was conducted in Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science on 20th November, 2015Environmental educator Prof.S.S.Davidson gave his lecture to the students. He insisted the students that every human should safe guard the forests, since now and then we get the food, water, fresh air, fuel etc from the forests. He also explained that the wealth of the forests depend on the animals and birds living there. He put the responsibility towards the students to protect it by not destroying. He informed that as per the statistics, India has only 13 percent of forests in it. In order to have a prosperous country, it should have at least one-third of forests in its land area. Now-a-days, many important steps have been taken to protect the forests like modern technology, forest management, organic bank for wild animals’ cell, to migrate the tribal people from the forests to nearby villages, planting saplings in the cities, protecting the rivers and its water resources etc. This seminar has been arranged by Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and SCOTT Christian College alumni association. Prof.Mohandas, the treasurer of Madurai center, also gave a small introductory speech. Dr.R.L.Ramnath, the Principal of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science gave the presidential address, Prof.C.Manikandan, Head Department of Film and Television Production welcomed the gathering and Prof.P.Thangamuthu, Physical Director proposed his Vote of Thanks.

Signing of MoU with Canara Bank

08th July, 2015 (Wednesday) a RED LETTER DAY in the annals of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy Foundation (SLF).

The day became memorable and may be called the Golden Wednesday, as on that day an MoU with CANARA BANK was entered into for funding of students of RL Institute of Management Studies (RLIMS), Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS) and RL Institute of Nautical Sciences (RLINS) for enabling completion of their Educational pursuits in these institutions.

CANARA BANK, a leading Public Sector Bank and among the top five, came forward to ink the said MoU with SLF headed by our visionary President Dr R Lakshmipathy, in the presence of Dr L Ramasubbu, Secretary, SLF and Mr Ram Kumar, Management Executive, SLF.

The MoU exchange function was attended by the top functionaries of CANARA BANK – General Manager Mr K Velusamy, Deputy General Manager Mr G Rajendran, Assistant General Manager Mrs Chandramathy, Divisional Manager Mr K N Subramanian and Divisional Manager Mr M N Manoharan and other officials.

Welcome address was by Dr S Rajasekar, Director, RLIMS. Shri B V Eswaran, Associate Professor, RLIMS proposed the vote of thanks.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2015

Orientation Programme to the Freshers is a structured program that offers them the opportunity to establish a link with the Faculty in their chosen major, to become familiar with the campus and with the array of academic and campus life programs available.

The SLCS conducted one day Orientation Program for the first year UG students of 2015-2018 Batch on 01.07.2015.An Inaugural session was conducted by SLCS and it was attended by the new entrants and their parents.

The Programme started with the Prayer and the Lighting of KuthuVilakku. Mr. S.Sekar, Placement Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Our Principal Dr. R.L.Ramnath delivered the Felicitation address. Our advisor Dr. G. R. Balakrishnan explained about the history of the college.

Mr.C.Ranjith Kumar, HoD, Department of IT & Networking informed the students about the various facilities available in the campus. He highlighted the accomplishments of the Faculty and assured the parents that their wards were in safe hands. The Attendance and Examination details are explained by Mr.R.Sundareswaran, Asst Prof, Dept of Commerce.The HODs of various Departments like Animation, MHS, FTVP, Commerce, IT, CS and Networking and MBA explained the importance of their courses and their special features.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Asst Professor, RLIMS informed the Students about the Campus Recruitment and the ways to equip themselves for getting placement. Mr.P.Senthikumaran, HOD of Tamil Department delivered presentation about the rules, regulation and about ragging.

Mr.C.Manikandan, HoD, Dept of FTVP elucidated about the Academic Audit system followed in the college to the Parents and students. Our Principal Dr. R.L.Ramnath introduced Dy.Wardens & Office staff (SLCS Office).

Finally the vote of thanks was given by Mrs.Anuradha ,Coordinator-Dept of Computer Science.

The Afternoon session was started with the Campus Tour for the Freshers to see the infrastructural facilities of our Institute like Class rooms, Seminar Hall, Auditorium, Swimming Pool, Gym, Temple, Community Radio Station, Ship-in Campus, RO Plant, etc. under the supervision of various Faculty Coordinators.

International Yoga Day

On 20th June 2015, International Yoga day was celebrated in the college premise. The Department of Film and Television produced a short film “Yoga for healthy Living” and it was released by Mr. R.M.J Ramanathan, Professor, World Community Service Centre, Madurai. The film was screened and it was about the Yogasanas and its importance. In that film Mr. Niranjan performed the Yogasanas and Mrs. Janaki, Yoga expert explained the do’s and dont’s of yoga. She also explained the importance and benefits of all the yogasanas. The video is uploaded in youtube for the public viewing.
