Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathi College of Science and R L Institute of Management Studies, Madurai Organized its 20th Graduation Day on 16th September 2017. Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal welcomed the gathering. Dr.N.Kamakodi, MD & CEO, City Union Bank was the Chief Guest. In his speech, he mentioned that the job oriented courses offered by the college would immediately provide job to the students. He emphasized to the students, that education and sincerity would help the industry grow which in turn would develop the country. Dr.R.Lakshmipathy, President of the college said that today lot of graduates are not employed, hence this college offers only job oriented courses with the faculty giving individual care and hands on training. He urged the students to take into consideration Digital India’s growth and fine tune themselves. Diabetes Awareness Programme
Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and Thangamayil Jewellery organized a Diabetes Awareness programme with Dr.V.Palanikumaran MD., D.Diab (MMC) for the faculty members at the college premises on 09.09.2017 at 3.00 pm. The programme was presided by Principal of SLCS, Dr.P.Saravanan and the Chief Organizing Officer of Thangamayil Jewellery Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayan.
The principal, in his speech mentioned the importance of Diabetes Awareness and also gave a simple but effective way to control Diabetes that is RED – Rest, Exercise and Diet. Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayan, Chief Organizing Officer, spoke of the association between Thangamayil Jewellery and Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and also introduced the speaker Dr.V.Palani Kumaran.
Dr.V.Palani Kumaran spoke at length about diabetes, sharing his knowledge about the types of diabetes, symptoms and the treatment to control diabetes. This was followed by an interesting interaction between the faculty and the doctor.
Mr. Suresh Raja of the department of Business Administration not only welcomed the guests and faculty members but also thanked them.
Teacher’s Day Celebration
Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science in association with Thangamayil Jewellery Limited, Madurai conducted Teacher’s Day Celebrations to honour the dedicated teachers for their meritorious service on 05.09.2017 at 4.00 pm in the college auditorium.
Mr.Balarama Govinda Das, Chairman & M.D Thangamayil Jewellery , Madurai was the chief guest Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS , R.L.Ramnath COE, SLCS , Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayanan, Chief Organizing Officer, Thangamayil Jewellery and Mr.K.Archunan ,Vice Principal ,SLCS were the other dignitaries present.
Mr.K.Archunan, Vice Principal, SLCS gave the welcome address. The Principal of SLCS Dr.P.Saravanan delivered the presidential address. The COE of SLCS Dr,R.L.Ramnath and Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayan delivered the felicitation address. The Chief Organizing Officer delivered the felicitation address. The Chief Organizing Officer stressed the importance of a teachers in a society.
The chief guest in his speech pinpointed the special role of teachers as educators and instillers of good manners and discipline in the students.
A debate was conducted for the faculty members which was judged by Dr.R.L.Ramnath COE,SLCS. Mr.P.Thirunavukarasu , HoD dept. of Animation thanked the gathering.
TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION
Teacher’s day was celebrated on 05.09.2017. The students welcomed the faculties and organized various activities portraying the importance of education and the role played by teachers. Teachers emphasized that students should learn with discipline, thereby marching towards becoming a responsible citizen. Students gave mementos to their teachers.
Parents Teacher Meeting – 2017-18
Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized Parent Teacher Meeting on August 26, 2017 for all the departments. Parents of all students were informed about the PTA meeting in advance.
All the parents attended the meeting. During this session the parents were informed about their child’s performance, behavior and other academic related issues.
This meeting made a platform between the parents and the faculty. It gave an opportunity to the parents to know about their child’s attitudes, behaviour and performance in the college.
Many parents appreciated the college for taking steps for caring the students by conducting this type of meeting and they requested to do this atleast twice in a semester. Principal Dr.P.Saravanan and Vice Principal Mr.K.Archunan supervised the meeting.
IMPACTS ON NAAC IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSITUTIONS – FDP
Faculty Development Programme was organized for all Faculty members of SLCS and RLIMS on 19th August, 2017 in the First MBA Hall.
Principal Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the gathering. Advisor IQAC Dr.R.L.Ramnath chaired the meeting. Honorable President Dr.R.Lakshmipathy presided the Presidential Address. In his address he stated the importance of NAAC and he also pointed out some questions about the NAAC. Then the Advisor Dr.G.R.Balakrishnan explained the Issues & Challenges in Higher Education.
The Chief Guest Dr.K.Meena former Vice Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Trichy gave her special address on the “Impact on NAAC in Higher Education Institutions”. She pointed that NAAC peer Team visit and preparing the SSR are Facts Finding Exercises that should be done by the institutions. Quantitative Metric is what we send and Qualitative Metric is the Peer Team’s Report. Dr.K.Meena also explained about the Seven Criterion. She stated that Autonomous Colleges should be given more focus on Criteria I & II. She repeatedly stated that each and every event should be documented for the sake of preparing. The Guest speech was really on eye opener for all the faculty members.
In the Post Lunch session Advisor IQAC Dr.R.L.Ramnath introduced the New Procedures of preparing the Self Study Report (SSR) in a detailed manner. Finally, the IQAC Coordinator Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Madras Coffee House Stall
Six students from the Dept of Marine Catering and Hotel Management from Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, have participated in Ideal Home Exhibition which was organized by Dinamalar Daily, Madurai at Thamukkam, Madurai from 3.8.2017 to 7.8.2017. The students worked for Madras coffee House stall for serving and selling their products. They issued certificates and Remuneration of Rs. 1000/- per student for 5 days. They also provided food for free of cost.
Student Support Center – Inauguration & MOU Signing
Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science felt very proud to have a Memorandum of Understanding with the well known M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation and AHANA Hospitals Madurai on 31st July 2017. Along with the Signing Ceremony of MOU the college also inaugurated a Student Support Center.
The principal SLCS Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the gathering. Executive editor of Sagar Sandesh Dr. G.R. Balakrishnan explained the objectives of the initiative of this Student Support Center. Our President Dr.R.Lakshmipathy preside the Presidential Address. In his presidential address he explained that the Student Support Center along with the help of this MOU will really benefit the students of our college. The Controller of the Examination Dr.R.L.Ramnath introduced the Chief Guest Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer, Founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation.
Signing Ceremony of the MOU and the Student Support Center Inaugural Address was given by our Guest Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer and Founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation. In his inaugural address he made the students to understand about the magnetic waves which surround us at all time.
The felicitations were given by the Guests Prof.G.Guru Bharathy Principal of M.S. Chellamuthu Institute of Mental Health & Rehabilitation, Dr.Vikhram Ramasubramanian, Director of Ahana Hospitals Madurai and Dr.M.Kannan Honorary Consultant Research of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation. They explained about the Students Support Center and that was really an eye opening session for all Faculty and Students. Finally Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Coordinator proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Field Visit – National Banana Festival
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Tamil Nadu Agricultural College & Research Institute, Madurai had organized a National Banana Festival from 21.07.2017 to 23.07.2017. Students from I & II year BBA were taken for a field visit on 22.07.2017. Interactive sessions & Guest Lectures with experts, explanations & exhibitions regarding innovative practices in banana cultivation were organized. The exhibition showcased various varieties of bananas. The event also covered some insights on supply chain and logistics in the banana sector. The students had a great learning experience.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION
Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self and to the self. Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy college of Science in association with Young Indian & Confederation of Indian Industry jointly commemorated International Yoga Day on 21st July, 2017.
Mr.Vijaya Darshan Jeevagan Chair in Young Indian Industry Madurai Chapter and Partner in Wallai Restaurants and Caterers gave the Welcome Remarks. He stated that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being.
Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal SLCS delivered the special address that Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being.
Ms.Racha Binani, Immediate Past Chair in Young Indian Industry Madurai, Teacher in Art of Living and Director of Kidss Talk Pvt. Ltd. explained the theme of the Intenational Yoga Day is Yoga health. The aim is to highlight a holistic approach to yoga, which focuses on both physical and mental well being.
Ms. Alamelu Mangai Teacher from Art of Living performed the asanas in front of the students. All the Faculty members and the students actively participated by doing the asanas. The Intenational Yoga Day was really an eye opening day for the students.
