ASSOCIATION MEET –KALAISARAL

Kalaisaral, the Association Meet was conducted by the TechnoFest Association Members on 24.07.2021 through the Google Meet. Students from II and III B.ScCS (SSS) participated in the event. Ms.K.Shahithya of II B.Sc C.S (SSS) compered the programme. The event  started with the welcome address given by Ms.Meha Priyadharshini of II B.Sc CS(SSS).Mrs.N.Anuradha Head of the Department gave the felicitation address. She encouraged the students to work as a team and to conduct more events in upcoming association activity.

Non-technical events were conducted for the edutainment of the students. Ms.M.Deepthi and Ms.N.Sivashankari of  II B.Sc CS (SSS) and Mr.Ajay Mathesh and Mr.S.Badrinarayanan of II B.Sc CS hosted a connection event and Quiz programme, respectively. The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.R.Rajalakshmi of III B.Sc CS (SSS).

Webinar “Time and space complexity of algorithms in data structure”

The department of Computer Science(Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Time and space complexity of algorithms in data structure” for the students of II B.Sc CS(SSS) for inculcating the knowledge of data structure in software development.

The webinar was presented by Dr.S.Prasanna, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Thiyagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.The webinar was arranged through GMeet on 24/07/2021 from 11.00AM to 12.30PM.

Our principal Dr.R.Sujatha delivered the presidential address and advised the students that the active participation of such webinars will give spark for their further research in their academics. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, delivered the felicitation address and shared the importance of data structure in software development. The resource person Dr.S.Prasanna clearly explained how to measure time and space complexity of algorithms used in all kinds of data structures.

Students learnt different types of data structures used in programming languages. They learned about the difference between built-in data types and user defined datatypes. The selection of data type for the program helps to increase the efficiency of the program. The time and space complexities are also the base reasons for the efficiency of the program. The students got clear idea about how to measure time and space complexites of the program through some real-tme examples. The time complexity measurement was explined for the looping statements like ‘for’, ‘while’ loop and decision-making statements like ‘if’, ‘ladder-if’.

As a whole, the webinar was an informative session for the students and gave a clear insight about the importance of data structures in software domain.

The association members of TechnoFest Association, Department of CS(SSS) made the arrangements for the entire session. Ms.Pooja Shri, II B.Sc CS(SSS) compered the entire session and Nivedha.V, II B.Sc CS(SSS) welcomed the gathering. Finally Mr.Santhose kumar, II B.Sc CS(SSS) thanked the gathering by proposing vote of thanks.

Totally 52 students from II B.Sc CS(SSS) attended the session and got benefitted. Students were given the feedback form to give their feedback about the session.

 

 

Workshop on “Web designing using Bootstrap”

The department of Computer Science organized a two day workshop on “Web Designing using Bootstrap” from 19.7.2021 to 20.07.2021.The students form II & III B.Sc CS (SSS) participated in the workshop through Google Meet.  The resource person of the workshop was Mr.Subash, UI Developer, Amizhth Techno Solutions, Madurai. The welcome address was given by Ms.K.K.Subashree from III B.Sc CS (SSS). Ms.N.Anuradha, Head, CS Department delivered the felicitation address. She introduced the Chief Guest and explained the importance of learning web designing. The resource person delivered the web designing concepts like HTML, CSS, Java Script & Bootstrap. He interacted with the students and also cleared their doubts. At the end of 1st & 2nd day session, a task was assigned to the students to develop web pages.  Feedback about the workshop was collected from the students and participation certificate was issued to the students. Totally 94 students participated in the workshop. The workshop was very useful for the students to develop their Mini Project.

KARMAVEERAR KAMARAJAR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

The Department of Computer Science (SSS) inaugurated the department Association “TechnoFest” and also celebrated KarmaveerarKamarajar birthday on 15.07.2021 from 3.00 – 4.00 PM. Students from II & III B.Sc CS (SSS) participated the event through the Google Meet.Mr.ThirupathyRajan from III B.Sc CS welcomed the gathering. Mrs.Anuradha, HoD of B.Sc CS (SSS) inauguratedthe department association “TechnoFest”. The Association members and Secretaries were elected for the academic year 2021 -2022. The details of secretary and Association members were mentioned below.

In order to celebrate the birthday of KarmaveerarKamarajar, several events like drawing, oratory, Verse Writing and Essay Writing were conducted.The comparing was done by Ms.Saraswathy.T.N and Ms.Ramya.R from III B.Sc CS.Students were participated in the events with enthusiastic manner. Mr.Sekereswaran from III B.Sc CS (SSS) outlined various incidents of kamarajar’s life and his service in eradicating illiteracy in tamilnadu. Finally the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.Pranava Kumar, III B.Sc CS (SSS).

NATIONAL LEVEL WEBINAR ON CYBER SECURITY & ETHICAL HACKING

The department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) & Ozone Cyber Security, Kerala, jointly organized a national level webinar on “Cyber Security & Ethical Hacking” to the +2 completed students for making them to know the job opportunities in cyber security domain. The webinar was arranged through Google Meet on 15/07/2021 from 11.00AM to 01.00PM. The webinar was started with the welcome address by A.Yuvashree, II B.Sc. CS(SSS). The presidential address was delivered by Prinipal Dr.R.Sujatha. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Department of CS (SSS) introduced the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest Mr.S.Vivek, CEO, Ozone Cyber Security, Kerala elaborated on various job opportunities in cyber security industry. The Chief Guest Mr.N.Ashiq Ahamed, Cyber Security Analyst, Ozone Cyber Security, Trichy elaborated on the importance of CEH (Certified Ethical Hacking) certifications to shine in the field of cyber security. Finally vote of thanks was delivered by S.Badri Narayanan, II B.Sc. CS(SSS). The association members of TechnoFest,  Department of CS(SSS) compeered the entire session. Totally 40 students attended the session and got benefitted. The students were given the feedback form to give their feedback about the session.

MENTOR MEETING REPORT (ODD SEMESTER 2021-22)

On behalf of the department of CS, the mentor meeting for the odd semester 2021– 22 was conducted physically and through online via Google Meet for all the I year, II year  and III year students. All the mentors of the department met their mentees separately. There were 11 Meetings conducted for the Odd Semester.

The mentors encouraged the students to participate in the peer teaching and placement training activities. The mentors shared the college rules and regulations with them. They also shared the importance of mentoring and encouraged the students to participate in Co-Curricular and extracurricular activities of our college. The mentors encouraged the students to participate in the paper presentation during tech-talk session. The mentors appreciated their mentees who cleared many online courses conducted by ICT Academy and Udemy.

          The students shared their grievances and personal problems faced by them. The students requested for providing air conditioning in the academic lab I & academic lab II. They asked us to reduce the duration for each period of the online classes . The students requested to change the college timing for online classes since they felt difficult to concentrate on learning any extra online courses. Girl students asked to allot enough number of seats in the canteen for girls. Students found some problems in accessing the n-list login for doing assignments.

WEBINAR ON “JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN CLOUD COMPUTING”

The department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Job Opportunities in Cloud Computing” to our III year B.Sc-CS(SSS) students to get an overall idea about the job opportunities in Cloud computing. The webinar was arranged through Google Meet on 13/07/2021 from 11.00AM to 12.30PM. The webinar was started with the welcome address by, Naveen Kisan B T, III B.Sc. CS(SSS).Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Department of CS (SSS) addressed the students and the felicitation address was given by  Mrs.J.Varalakshmi,Asst.Prof. of CS(SSS).

The chief guest Mr.Prabahar Murugan, CEO,Amizth Rechno Solutions,Madurai gave a lecture on basic cloud computing concepts. He explained the importance of types of servers, server rack, data centres and  traditional computing technologies. He also elaborated on various job opportunities in Cloud Computing. Finally vote of thanks was delivered by Abirami R, III B.Sc. CS(SSS). Ms. Yogaa Sri J,III B.Sc. CS(SSS) compeered the entire session. As a whole, the webinar was an eye-opening session for the students and gave a clear insight about the importance of cloud computing.  Totally 42 students attended the session and got benefitted. The students were given the feedback form to give their feedback about the session.

Webinar on “Employability opportunities in learning Python language”

“Python is fast enough for our site and allows us to produce maintainable features in record times, with a minimum of developers,” said Cuong Do, Software Architect, YouTube.com.

As quoted by Mr.Cuong Do, Software Architect of YouTube.com, python plays a key role in software production pipeline. In conformity with the quote, the Department of Computer Science(Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Employability opportunities in learning Python language” for the students of II & III B.Sc CS(SSS) for making them to know the job opportunities in learning python Language. As the department of CS(SSS) has signed an MoU with Devspark IT Solutions, Hydrabad, the webinar was conducted by Mr.Nagakumar, CEO, Devspark IT Solutions. The webinar was arranged through GMeet on 10/07/2021 from 09.00AM to 11.00AM. Our principal Dr.Sujatha delivered the presidential address and also advised the students to learn new things during the webinar session. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, delivered the felicitation address and shared the students that a series of webinars are going to be arranged for this odd semester of academic year 2021-22. The resource person Mr.Nagakumar clearly explained the job opportunities in software domain using python language. Students learned the following through the webinar session:

  • Basic programming concepts in python
  • How to apply for job and internship opportunities using job portals like https://in.indeed.com, https://www.naukri.com/ and https://internshala.com/
  • Learning the python concepts and developing python projects using https://pythonland.com/
  • Clear insight about the role of Python in Datascience, Machine Learning domains
  • Communities like https://www.activestate.com/ , https://realpython.com/ which help for python developers
  • Python IDEs like VisualStudio , Pycharm, Spyder etc
  • How to create resumes using online portals.

As a whole, the webinar was an eye-opening session for the students and gave a clear insight about the importance of python language in the job market.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB

The department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) conducted an activity for the Techie Quest club on 30th March, 2021 for the academic year 2020-21 Even semester, through Google Meet and Google Classroom from 3.00 PM to 3.50 PM. Second year students from various departments participated in the club activity.

The session started with the welcome address, which was given by Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, Assistant Professor and Event Coordinator, Dept. of CS. She, also, delivered the felicitation address and shared many concepts regarding the importance of innovations and the latest technology in the field of Computer Science. She encouraged the students to actively participate in club activities and develop their skills in their domain of interest.

Mr.R.Sudharson Prabhu of II Year CS(SSS) delivered a presentation on “Ethical Hacking Basic Concepts”. This session was useful to the students as they understood the fundamentals of Cyber Security. They also learned online websites for mastering ethical hacking and how to earn by finding bugs in websites through online. The session ended with Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, AP of CS  proposing the vote of thanks.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB-TREASURE HUNT COMPETITION

The members of Techie Quest Club conducted an Intra college competition of “Treasure Hunt” on 20.03.2021 at 3.00 pm at F40 Hall. All the I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator Mrs.J.Varalakshmi,Asst.Prof. of CS, welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

Totally 123 members participated in this event. The participants were divided into two batches. This event was conducted separately for each batch. This event had 6 clues and the given time was 30 minutes. The participants who had found out the final clue in short time was declared as the winners. Finally three participants were selected as prize winners. It was really an entertaining and energetic event for the participants.
