Webinar on “Employability opportunities in learning Python language”

As quoted by Mr.Cuong Do, Software Architect of YouTube.com, python plays a key role in software production pipeline. In conformity with the quote, the Department of Computer Science(Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Employability opportunities in learning Python language” for the students of II & III B.Sc CS(SSS) for making them to know the job opportunities in learning python Language. As the department of CS(SSS) has signed an MoU with Devspark IT Solutions, Hydrabad, the webinar was conducted by Mr.Nagakumar, CEO, Devspark IT Solutions. The webinar was arranged through GMeet on 10/07/2021 from 09.00AM to 11.00AM. Our principal Dr.Sujatha delivered the presidential address and also advised the students to learn new things during the webinar session. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, delivered the felicitation address and shared the students that a series of webinars are going to be arranged for this odd semester of academic year 2021-22. The resource person Mr.Nagakumar clearly explained the job opportunities in software domain using python language. Students learned the following through the webinar session:

  • Basic programming concepts in python
  • How to apply for job and internship opportunities using job portals like https://in.indeed.com, https://www.naukri.com/ and https://internshala.com/
  • Learning the python concepts and developing python projects using https://pythonland.com/
  • Clear insight about the role of Python in Datascience, Machine Learning domains
  • Communities like https://www.activestate.com/ , https://realpython.com/ which help for python developers
  • Python IDEs like VisualStudio , Pycharm, Spyder etc
  • How to create resumes using online portals.

As a whole, the webinar was an eye-opening session for the students and gave a clear insight about the importance of python language in the job market.

The association members of TechnoFest Association, Department of CS(SSS) compeered the entire session. Mr.Ramanan, III B.Sc CS(SSS) delivered welcome address and Ms.Shahithya, II B.Sc CS(SSS) thanked the gathering by proposing vote of thanks.

Totally 94 students from II & III B.Sc CS(SSS) attended the session and got benefitted. Students were given the feedback form to give their feedback about the session.

 

 

 

TECHIE QUEST CLUB

The department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) conducted an activity for the Techie Quest club on 30th March, 2021 for the academic year 2020-21 Even semester, through Google Meet and Google Classroom from 3.00 PM to 3.50 PM. Second year students from various departments participated in the club activity.

The session started with the welcome address, which was given by Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, Assistant Professor and Event Coordinator, Dept. of CS. She, also, delivered the felicitation address and shared many concepts regarding the importance of innovations and the latest technology in the field of Computer Science. She encouraged the students to actively participate in club activities and develop their skills in their domain of interest.

Mr.R.Sudharson Prabhu of II Year CS(SSS) delivered a presentation on “Ethical Hacking Basic Concepts”. This session was useful to the students as they understood the fundamentals of Cyber Security. They also learned online websites for mastering ethical hacking and how to earn by finding bugs in websites through online. The session ended with Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, AP of CS  proposing the vote of thanks.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB-TREASURE HUNT COMPETITION

The members of Techie Quest Club conducted an Intra college competition of “Treasure Hunt” on 20.03.2021 at 3.00 pm at F40 Hall. All the I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator Mrs.J.Varalakshmi,Asst.Prof. of CS, welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

Totally 123 members participated in this event. The participants were divided into two batches. This event was conducted separately for each batch. This event had 6 clues and the given time was 30 minutes. The participants who had found out the final clue in short time was declared as the winners. Finally three participants were selected as prize winners. It was really an entertaining and energetic event for the participants.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB-DUMB CHARADES COMPETITION

The members of Techie Quest Club organized an Intra College competition of “Dumb Charades” on 20.03.2021 at 2.00 PM in F32 Hall. All the I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator Mrs.J.Varalakshmi,Asst.Prof. of CS  welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

                   Totally 60 students participated in this event. Two students have participated per team. This event had three rounds consisting of technical round, general round and National Leader round. Finally three teams had been shortlisted for awarding prizes. It was really an entertaining event not only for the participants but to everyone present there.

MENTOR MEETING REPORT

On behalf of the department of CS, the fourth Mentor Meeting for the Even semester 2020 – 21 was conducted on 19.03.2021 between 3.00 PM and 3.50 PM in the class room S50, Academic Labs and in the shade of trees. All mentors of the department met their mentees separately. Students spoke about their talents and areas of interests to their mentors. They shared their grievances and personal problems. Students, also, gave their feedback about college life.

The Minutes of the Course Committee Meeting

The Department of Computer Science conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 19-03-2021 at 11.15 AM to get the students’ opinion and grievances, if any, regarding academics, before the Internal Test-I. In this meeting, wherein 18 students and 4 faculty members participated, the syllabus coverage and comprehension of each course were discussed. Only the first year students participated in this meet due to social distancing. Students gave valuable feedback and were assured that their inconveniences will be taken care of and academic standards maintained through Management decisions.

EXTENSION ACTIVITY-“Online Games vs Vintage Outdoor Games”

The Department of CS, as a part of their Extension Activity recorded and aired a progreamme “Online Games vs Vintage Outdoor Games” through SLCS’s Community Radio Shyamalavani on 13.03.2021 at 02.30 PM. Six students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) performed a skit “Online Games vs Vintage Outdoor Games”, a play about the importance of playing outdoor games. This play disseminated the message to interact with society by playing out door games instead of playing online games.

MENTOR MEETING

On behalf of the department of CS, the third mentor meeting for the Even semester 2020 – 2021 was conducted on 12.03.2021 from 3.00 PM-3.50 PM in the Academic Labs and in the shade of trees. All mentors of the department met their mentees separately. Students shared their talents and areas of interests to their mentors. They, also, shared their grievances and personal problems. Mentors also appreciated their talents and encouraged them to participate in the annual day events.

 

EXTENSION ACTIVITY -“புத்தகம் எனது நண்பன்”

The Department of CS, as a part of their Extension Activity recorded and aired a progreamme “புத்தகம் எனது நண்பன்” through SLCS’s Community Radio Shyamalavani on 06.03.2021 at 02.30 PM. Six students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) performed a skit “Puthaham Enathu Nanban”, a play about the importance of books. This play disseminated the message to read books instead of wasting time using mobile phones.

On behalf of the department of CS, the second mentor meeting for the even semester 2020 – 2021 was conducted on 05.03.2021 from 3.00 PM-3.50 PM in the class rooms S48, S50 and in the shade of trees. All mentors of the department met their mentees separately. Due to social distancing, only the first year students participated in the meeting. They shared their grievances and personal problems faced by them to their mentors.
