On behalf of the Department of CS, the eighth Mentor Meeting for the Odd Semester 2020 – 2021 was conducted online on 20.11.2020 in the Academic Lab-1 and Academic Lab-II at 11.50 AM. All mentors in the department met their mentees separately through Google Meet and Google Classrooms. Mentees shared their achievements, their grievances and various personal problems faced by them with their mentors.

All mentors in the department discussed the following:

• 2019-2020 Even semester results
• Procedure to apply for Revaluation
• Internal Examinations marks
• Tips for Examination preparation.

On 19^th November 2020, a  peer teaching class was conducted through Google Meet for 45 students of II B.Sc CS(SSS). Ms. G.Subarshana of II B.Sc CS(SSS) explained the concept of “Design Principles of Firewall”. The students of II B.Sc CS made the session interactive by clarifying their queries.

Ms. R.Abirami – 19238 of II B.Sc CS(SSS) as part of peer teaching  expounded on “Circuit-Level Gateways Firewall” to the students of II B.Sc CS(SSS) on 19^th November 2020, through Google Meet. She explained the working of Circuit-Level Gateways Firewall and its application . 45 students participated in and benefited through this session.

On 19^th November 2020, a peer teaching session was conducted through Google Meet for 45 students of II B.Sc CS(SSS). Mr. K.Thirupathi Rajan – 19231 of II B.Sc CS(SSS) shared his knowledge on “Packet Filtering Firewall”. He compared Packet Filtering Firewall with other types of firewall in a simple and easy manner. The session was interactive and concluded with a discussion.

A peer teaching session was conducted through Google Meet on 19 November 2020. Ms. J.S.Yoga Sri – 19224 of II B.Sc CS (SSS) shared her knowledge on “Limitations of Firewall” to 45 students of II B.Sc CS (SSS). She explained in detail about  Firewall and also clarified the doubts of her peers.

The Department of Computer Science conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 18-11-2020 at 3.30 PM to get the students’ opinion and grievances, if any, regarding academics before the conduction of  Internal test-II. In this meeting, wherein 36 students and 5 faculty members participated, the syllabus coverage of each course was discussed through Google meet and Google class room. Students gave valuable feedback and were assured that their inconveniences will be taken care of and academic standards maintained through Management decisions.

The valedictory function of Techie Quest club was conducted online on 18.11.2020 through Google Meet and Google Classroom. The club members, club coordinator and student club coordinators participated in the meeting. The welcome address was given by Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, AP of CS. She appreciated the winners of the Quiz conducted the previous week.Mr.K.U.Sastipriyan, student coordinator from III Year CS clarified the doubts of the members regarding the day to day cyber attacks faced by them.He also explained how to use private and public IP Address and handle web security tools. The club members actively participated and responded to the queries during the session.  The program ended with Mr.K.Shyam Ruthan, III CS proposing the vote of thanks.

Ms.A.Shalini – 18217 of III B.SC CS(SSS) made a presentation through Google Meet for 38 students of III B.SC CS(SSS) on 12.11.2020. She taught her peers “Host Security and Data Security”. Through her presentation, she explained the definition of Host and the ways to implement the security features in it. Students actively participated and clarified their doubts.

On 12^thNovember 2020, a peer teaching session was conducted through Google Meet for 38 students of III B.Sc CS(SSS). Mr. S.G.Premkumar-18238 of III B.Sc CS(SSS) shared his knowledge on “Open Source Security Solution Products in Cloud”. He explained the ways to enhance the security features in cloud. The students interacted well and also shared their knowledge on Cloud Security.
