Report of Cultural Heritage of India

Cultural Heritage of India was introduced as an extra credit course in the academic year 2020-21 for the 2019-22 batch students. It was resourced by DHAN Foundation, a leading National Professional NGO, who handled the session for 15 hours. The objective of the course is to make the students explore native aspects of knowledge and not only harmonies their way of life but also bring about Moral and Material development of India. It is also aimed to also infuse interest in the students to understand native literature, religion, philosophy and cultural heritage. A total number of 349 students participated and benefitted from the Program. An extra credit of one is awarded to students who fulfill the criteria of attendance, assignments and online test at the end of the Program.

International Journalist Remembrance Day – 2021

Commemorate “International Journalist Remembrance Day” we the Library Managing Club & Readers Hub jointly organized a seminar on “Journalism” on 2nd November, 2021 in the Seminar Hall at 3.00 pm to 4.00 p.m. the programme was inaugurated by Mrs. M. Gunasundari, Asst.Librarian.

Ms. Catherin Esther Roselin, Asst. Professor Dept of Viscom, the special invitee of our programme delivered a valuable speech about the “Journalism”

In this, she explained about the current trend and the importance of Journalism. Around 60 First year students were participated in this programme. All the students got benefited in this programme.

Workshop on “Surfacing – Substance painter”

D.P Roy Choudhury Association of Department of Animation along with IMSK, Chennai organized a two days “Webinar on Surfacing – Substance Painter” on 28th & 29th September, 2021 from 10:00 A.M to 05:00 P.M. through the Google Meet to improve the student’s skill for placement. Mr. Hariharan, 3D Artist and Mr. Pugazhendi, Junior Developer from Madras Mind Works were the Chief Guest. Mr. M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor, Department of Animation welcomed the gathering. Mr. P. Kishore kumar, Head (i\c) cum Assistant Professor delivered the key note address. The following topics were taught to the students.

Day – 1

  • 3D Asset pipeline (3D modeling, UV Unwrapping, Texturing)
  • Substance painter Introduction
  • How Substance made texture easy
  • How to texture in substance painter
  • Texture task for students in substance painter

Day – 2

  • Create Depth and realism using textures
  • Texture & Maps, Adding materials and textures to 3D model
  • Techniques for texturing
  • Exporting texture for Game engine to work
  • Asset Rendering pipeline (Material and Textures)
  • Industry Use cases

Totally 46 students benefited.

World Tourism Day – 2021

The Readers Hub and Library Managing Club jointly organized a Competition to celebrate the World Tourism Day on 27th September, 2021 and 28th September, 2021 at 1.30 pm  in the Library. Around 25 students participated  in the competition. Prize Winners names were also announced.

 

Workshop on Online Quiz Tool – Socrative

Digital learning is replacing traditional educational methods in the present scenario as it is the need of the hour during this Covid 19 pandemic. It is necessary for the teachers to learn innovative online learning techniques and various digital to handle online classes effectively. Learning tools and technology enable students to develop effective self-directed learning skills. They are able to identify what they need to learn via online resources and this increases their efficiency and productivity. In addition to engaging students, digital learning tools and technology sharpen critical thinking skills, which are the basis for the development of analytic reasoning. Students those who explore open-ended questions with imagination and logic learn how to make decisions, as opposed to just temporarily memorizing the textbook.

            ICT committee of SLCS in association with IQAC organized a Workshop on Online Quiz Tool – Socrative to all the faculty members on 31.07.2021 at Animation lab between 9:30 a.m and 11:00 a.m. The meeting was commenced with prayer song. Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep /Assistant Professor – MBA delivered welcome address. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal delivered the presidential address. She advised the staff members to make use of the digital tool (Socrative) effectively after attending the training session. Special address was delivered by Dr.S.Priya / Dean – Academics and in her address she motivated the staff members to explore many more digital tools in the forthcoming days. Felicitation address was given by Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal. Mr. M. AthiGopal  /HoD- Networking  proposed Vote of Thanks. Technical session on Socrative digital tool was handled by Mrs. N. Anuradha / HoD – Computer Science. The session was interactive and she clarified the doubts raised by the faculty members. E Feedback was collected from all the faculty members after the training. Master of ceremony was done by Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep /Assistant Professor  – MBA. Members of ICT committee assisted the participants for the smooth conduct of the Workshop and the technical assistance was done by the technician of Animation department.

Eco Club – Discussion on basics of Environment

The Eco club organised a session to perceive the concept of environment on 13th, July 2021 in Google Meet through Google Class room. Students from various departments participated in this session. The student’s shared their perception on the concept of environment and submitted it by write up. 11 students participated in this Session.

Awareness Programme on Usage of Face Masks

The Red Ribbon Club of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai conducted an awareness programme on Usage of Face Masks from 23-04-2021 to 15-05-2021 through google class room. The students from various departments participated and created an awareness among the public. 33 students participated in the programme.

Awareness Programme on Mask is the Armor

The National Service Scheme of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, conducted an awareness programme on “Mask is the Armor”. The Programme conducted from 20-04-2021 to 30-04-2021 through google class room. The students from various departments are participated and created an awareness in their all nearby areas. 7 students participated.

The National Service Scheme of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai conducted an awareness programme on “COVID Vaccination” from 19-04-2021 to 30-04-2021 through google class room. The students from various departments are participated and created an awareness in their all nearby area of residence. 5 students participated in the programme.

The Youth Red Cross of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai conducted an awareness programme on “Face Mask and Its needs” from 17-04-2021 to 30-04-2021 through google class room. Students from various departments participated and created an awareness among the people of nearby area. 17 students participated in the programme.
