Report of Cultural Heritage of India

Cultural Heritage of India was introduced as an extra credit course in the academic year 2021-22 for the 2020-23 batch students. It was resourced by DHAN Foundation, a leading National Professional NGO, who handled the session for 15 hours. It was conducted on 18th December of 2021 and, 26th February ,5th ,12th & 26th of March 2022. The topics covered were Society State and Policy in India, Indian Literature, Culture, Tradition, and Practices, Indian Religion, Philosophy and Practice, Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts and Science Management and Indian Knowledge System. The objective of the course is to make the students explore native aspects of knowledge and not only harmonies their way of life but also bring about Moral and Material development of India. It also aims to infuse interest in the students to understand native literature, religion, philosophy and cultural heritage. A total number of 259 students participated and benefitted with a certificate of completion. An extra credit of one is awarded to students who fulfill the criteria of attendance, assignments and online test at the end of the Program. A feedback was also collected.

Annual day competition – Mimicry

Trade club of Our Subbalakshimi Lakshmipathy college of science organised an annual day competition – Mimicry on 12.03.2022 (Saturday). Students from various department of our college have been participated and Nivethan BSc F&IS got first place, Jeevayogesh M BSc F&IS got second place. Mr. S. Ravishankar, Head of the department, Bcom Honours and Mr. I. Vivek Ramkumar, Head of the department, Department of Fire and safety were played the role of judges for the competition.   This activity was organised by Mr. A. Raja, Trade Club Coordinator.

Mr. S. Ravishankar, Head of the department, Bcom Honours and Mr. Satish Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Fire and safety were played the role of judge for the competition. This activity was organised by Mr. A. Raja, Trade Club Coordinator.

NATIONAL VOTER’S DAY

The Electoral literacy club of SLCS commemorated the national voter’s day on 25.01.2022 by taking the pledge as follows.

“We, the citizens of India having, abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any other inducement”.

Totally 15 faculty members participated.

Thiruvalluvar Day 2022 Celebration

The Students Forum celebrated Thiruvalluvar Day on 15 and 16 of January.  It was celebrated as a part of Pongal celebration. Since Thirukural is sent every day to students to their mail id, in the name of PURL KURAL, they were very enthusiastic in participating in an online story writing and drawing competition. They were instructed to write stories and draw pictures and sent it to the mail. Thiruvalluvars insight brought about in his 1330 couplets or Kurals helped the students to learn virtues of daily life. In total 60 students participated and benefitted from the program. NATIONAL YOUTH DAY / YUWA DIVAS 2022

The Students Forum, Students Corner Club in association with NSS celebrated the NATIONAL YOUTH DAY / YUWA DIVAS 2022 on 12th January, 2022 and organized a Quiz Competition on the life of Swamiji Vivekananda. Students enthusiastically participated in the quiz competition and gained lots of insights. The responses were scrutinised by Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics and Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya, Coordinator, Students Forum. The quiz was shared in a Google form and 284 responses were collected from students and faculty members. The quiz enlightened the students to honour the ideals and thoughts of Swamiji Vivekananda who had tremendous faith in youth. Students learnt moral and ethical values through this quiz. Totally 284 students were benefited by attending this online quiz.            E-Certificates were issued to the students.
