Objective(s) of the activity:

·        To provide basic understanding in Port Operations.

·        To understand the process of loading and unloading cargo operations.

·        To understand the traffic process of vessels into the port.

Key Highlights:

·        Students along with staff reached the VOC Port at 11.30 a.m.  After paying the necessary entry fee, the port authority permitted to visit the unloading area of Berth No. 9, where a bulk carrier vessel was unloading the Coal cargo.

·        Later, we were permitted to enter in to the deck of the ship and observed the loading process.

·        Finally, we visited the signal station of the port, where the station in charge explained the process of entry and exit traffic into the port.

Outcome(s) of the activity:

·        The students were able to

·        understand the basic port operations in the port and obtained the hands- on training of loading process inside the bulk career ship.

·        understand the traffic operations of the vessels inside the port.
