The Student Orientation ProgrammeStudent Orientation Programme for M.Com. (Computer Applications and FinTech) at SLCS Madurai welcomes students to a new academic journey.

The programme introduces students to the course, academic environment, opportunities, and expectations of college life.

It provides valuable guidance and motivation to help students develop their knowledge, skills, confidence, and career prospects.

The presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. S. Muthulakshmi, adds significance to the programme and inspires students to begin their journey with enthusiasm.

On August 07, 2026, the Department of Commerce (Banking and Insurance)
organized a Peer Teaching Session on “Human Rights and the Indian Constitution,” led by Ms. Mahalakshmi M, a student of II B.Com (Banking and Insurance). The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of human rights, their fundamental characteristics, different types, and their significance in the Indian constitutional framework.
Through relevant examples and case studies, Ms. Mahalakshmi M explained the practical importance of human rights and highlighted the rights and responsibilities of individuals in society. The peer-to-peer teaching approach created an interactive and engaging learning environment, enabling students to participate actively and gain a better understanding of the topic. The session successfully enhanced students’ knowledge of human rights and their relevance in both personal and professional life.

The Cuentas Association of the Department of Commerce – B.Com. (Banking & Insurance) and B.Com. (Computer Applications & FinTech) organized an engaging and informative activity on August 08, 2026. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Rahmath Nisha K, which created a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere among the participants.
The first segment of the programme featured a Speech on Education and Self-
Confidence, presented by Ms. Sowmiya G, Ms. Poorvika T, Ms. Dharshini Karthika R, and Mr. Sree Varshan S of I B.Com. (B&I). The session highlighted the importance of education, self-belief, and personal development in achieving success.
Following this, Ms. Uma Bharathi A and Ms. Harikeerthana R of III B.Com. (B&I) conducted a Paper Presentation session. Several students presented their research papers on the topic “Responsible AI: Ethics, Trust, Privacy and Governance”, demonstrating their analytical skills and providing valuable insights into the emerging field of Artificial Intelligence. The presentations encouraged meaningful discussions and enhanced the students’ understanding of ethical considerations and challenges associated with AI.
The programme also included a musical performance, where Mr. Udahya Shankar M of II B.Com. (B&I) presented a keyboard performance, followed by melodious singingperformances by Ms. Lavanya S, Ms. Gopika K, Mr. Shyam Sundar S, and Ms. Poojasri M, adding an enjoyable and creative dimension to the event.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. K. Soundharya of III B.Com. (B&I). She expressed her sincere gratitude to the management, faculty members, participants, and organizers for their valuable support and contributions towards the successful conduct of the programme.

In conclusion, the Cuentas Association activity served as an excellent platform for students to showcase their talents, enhance their knowledge, develop confidence, and actively participate in collaborative learning experiences.

The Department Association of Computer Science (Security System
Specialization) Technofest Association organized a Department Association
Meet – “Paper Presentation Competition” on 08 August 2026. The programme
was organized to provide students with a platform to enhance their presentation skills, technical knowledge, communication skills, and confidence in presenting ideas before an audience.
The programme commenced with a Welcome and Introduction by Muthu Priya – II SSS, followed by a Silent Prayer by all the participants. Ragini – II SSS delivered the Welcome Address and warmly welcomed the faculty members and students to the association meet.The event continued with a series of Paper Presentations by the students. The first presentation was delivered by Alagumeenakshi and Deepaharini – II SSS, followed by the second presentation by Vignesh Saravanan and Nandhish – II SSS. The presentations provided students with an opportunity to share their technical ideas and improve their knowledge through peer learning.
A Game Session conducted by Siddarth and Giri Devan – II SSS added an
interactive and engaging element to the programme. This was followed by a
video presentation of the previous Department Association Meeting, which
helped students recall and appreciate the activities conducted earlier.

The third paper presentation was delivered by Madhumitha and Harini – II SSS. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Vignesh – II SSS, who expressed gratitude to the faculty members, student participants, and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the event. The programme was formally brought to a close by Farjana Parveen – II SSS.The Department Association Meet was successfully conducted, providing students with a valuable opportunity to develop their technical presentation,
communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. The event encouraged active
student participation and contributed to their overall academic and professional development.

The Department of Networking organized a Department Association Activity – PaperPresentation on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on 08 August 2026, from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM, at the Windows Server Lab. The activity was conducted as part of the department’s initiatives to enhance students’ technical knowledge, presentation skills, creativity, and awareness of emerging technologies. The programme commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Prema Latha N (I NET). Following this, the Head of the Department, Dr. M. Muthu Ganeshan, introduced the Office Bearers of the Department Association. Students from I, II, and III NET actively participated in the event and delivered four informative PowerPoint presentations on Artificial Intelligence. Sivadharshini T (III NET) delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the event. Overall, the programme was informative, engaging, and motivating, encouraging students to actively participate in technical, academic, and co-curricular activities throughout the academic year.

The Department of Commerce – B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) organized a Workshop on E-Taxation on 05 August 2026 for the III B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) students at the Net Lab. The workshop was conducted by Dr. R. Nithya Kalyani, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce – Banking and Insurance, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy  College of Science, Madurai, who served as the Resource Person. During the session, the resource person provided a comprehensive overview of E-Taxation, highlighting its importance in the digital era and its role in facilitating the online filing of Income Tax
Returns (ITR) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns through government portals. She explained the step-by-step procedure for electronic tax filing, including taxpayer registration, preparation of relevant documents, online submission of returns, tax payment, verification of returns, and downloading of acknowledgement receipts. She also discussed the major
advantages of E-Taxation, including convenience, accuracy, transparency, faster processing, and reduced paperwork. Furthermore, she explained the common errors encountered during the E-Taxation process, such as incorrect data entry, mismatch of PAN and Aadhaar details, inaccurate tax calculations, omission of mandatory information, and failure to verify returns after submission. Practical guidance was provided to help students avoid these mistakes and ensure accurate and successful online tax filing. The workshop was highly interactive and enabled students to gain practical exposure to the E-Taxation process while enhancing their understanding of digital tax compliance. The programme concluded with an engaging
question-and-answer session, during which students clarified their queries regarding various aspects of online tax filing procedures. A total of 52 III B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) students actively participated in and benefited from the workshop.

The Department of Networking at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (Autonomous) proudly presents NETKINGS, a flagship department association activity aimed at empowering students through technical innovation. As part of this event, a Paper Presentation competition will be held to provide participants with an ideal platform to showcase their research and analytical ideas. The session is scheduled for August 8, 2026, from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM in the Windows Server Lab. This event offers an exciting opportunity for students to exchange knowledge, gain practical insight, and sharpen their communication skills.
