The Department of Commerce – B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) organized a Workshop on E-Taxation on 05 August 2026 for the III B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) students at the Net Lab. The workshop was conducted by Dr. R. Nithya Kalyani, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce – Banking and Insurance, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy  College of Science, Madurai, who served as the Resource Person. During the session, the resource person provided a comprehensive overview of E-Taxation, highlighting its importance in the digital era and its role in facilitating the online filing of Income Tax
Returns (ITR) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns through government portals. She explained the step-by-step procedure for electronic tax filing, including taxpayer registration, preparation of relevant documents, online submission of returns, tax payment, verification of returns, and downloading of acknowledgement receipts. She also discussed the major
advantages of E-Taxation, including convenience, accuracy, transparency, faster processing, and reduced paperwork. Furthermore, she explained the common errors encountered during the E-Taxation process, such as incorrect data entry, mismatch of PAN and Aadhaar details, inaccurate tax calculations, omission of mandatory information, and failure to verify returns after submission. Practical guidance was provided to help students avoid these mistakes and ensure accurate and successful online tax filing. The workshop was highly interactive and enabled students to gain practical exposure to the E-Taxation process while enhancing their understanding of digital tax compliance. The programme concluded with an engaging
question-and-answer session, during which students clarified their queries regarding various aspects of online tax filing procedures. A total of 52 III B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) students actively participated in and benefited from the workshop.
