Extension Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) – Awareness Program on Digital Transaction

On behalf of the Department of Networking,Ms.T.Shunmugapriya, Assistant Professor,  along with three students conducted an Extension Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) on 04/03/2022 (Friday) for the benefit of the women belonging to self Help Group namely Alponsa  at K.Pudur . Through this activity, the women gained valuable information on the  topics  such as   how one can make simple, easy and quick transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and how can  they make direct bank payments to anyone on UPI using their UPI ID or scanning their QR code with the  app and how they can request money through the app from a UPI ID. She also elaborated on the benefits of app such as fastness, hassle-free and the cheapest way of money transfer, which any one can do from anywhere and at anytime(works on 24×7 basis) and prerequisites to use UPI   is to have a bank account with a member bank.The laywomen gained  knowledge on how to submit online application for Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Balika Samridhi Yojana, Ladli Laxmi Yojana,  Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana Schemes. Totally 30 women were benefited through this extension activity.

SLCS Samaj Seva (Extension Activity – Awareness Program on Internet Security)

Mr.M.Athigopal and Mr.V.Deepan Chakkaravarthy of the Department of Networking along with five students of Networking Department conducted an Extension Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) on 28/02/2022 (Monday) for the benefit of the students of  Amudham Matric  Higher Secondary School at Perungudi. Through this activity, the school students gained valuable information on the  topics  such as   Circumventing the security of a cryptographic system by finding a weakness in a code, cipher and cryptographic protocol or key management scheme, how encryption is the best way to protect data during transfer and one way to secure stored personal data. The students gained  knowledge on how encryption  reduces the risk of abuse within a company as access is limited only to authorised people with the right key. Since it was a beginner level program,the school students got the basic ideas of cryptography and its types of attack.Totally 50 students were benefited through this extension activity.

Mobile Phone Usage and Awareness of Health Related Issues

Department of Networking organized an Extension Activity(SLCS Samaj Seva) wherein three students of second year and Two faculty members Mrs.R.M.Rajeshwari, Ms.T.Shunmugapriya went to Thirrupparankundram. Our Students namely P.Prasanth,V.S.Dinesh and J.S.Nandha kumar   explained the general public  how to use the mobile phone during night  and also  explained about the health issues of handling the mobile  phones for a long time. They educated the people  by  demonstrating on how low levels of RF radiation emitted by mobile phones could cause health problems such as headaches or brain tumours. It was a good experience for the students to motivate the public about the hazards of indiscriminate use of mobile phone. The program was organized well and motivated the public residing  in and around Thirupparankundram,near Madurai.

CONSOLIDATED MENTOR MENTEE MEETING REPORT

As imparting education involves the holistic development and maturity of the students, we at Department of Networking follow a mentoring system that incorporates  a multidimensional approach. The mentoring  begins at the time the student is admitted to the department and goes until they reach the final semester .The individual teacher conducts meeting  with their mentees. Mentor Mentee  ratio of the department is 1:13

Every week the mentor mentee meetings are conducted in day order V and the minutes are recorded properly. In those meeting,  mentors   give information  about  the discipline and strict adherence to the time inside the college campus.The faculty members  share the importance of mentoring and encourage  the students to involve in Co-curricular and Extracurricular activities of our college.  The mentees have been advised to write their Class, Internal and End Semester Examinations Well. Likewise students’ grievances  had been resolved on time in most of the cases and in some cases it was forwarded to the authority  concerned and the principal .

On the whole,  the Department of  Networking  organized the Mentor Mentee Meetings in a smooth manner through out the semester

 

AWARENESS PROGRAM ON SAFER INTERNET

The Internet club celebrated the SAFER INTERNET DAY on 10th February, 2022 and organized an awareness program on Safer Internet.  Ms.S.Madhu Varshini, II FSPM, delivered the welcome address. Students of Internet club participated in the session. Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya, Club Coordinator, addressed the gathering. In her speech, she explained the various attacks and its countermeasures to be followed while browsing the internet. Further, she elaborated on Key points that students have to undergo to build up a smarter and safer browsing experience. The session helped the students to know about hackers and their fraudulent activities. Students learnt the steps involved in ethical hacking. Totally 22 students were benefited by attending the session. Ms.S.R.Tharuni , I CS(SSS), delivered vote of thanks.This interactive session was useful to the students.

WEBINAR ON DIGITAL LITERACY

The Internet club and Techie Quest club jointly celebrated the WORLD EDUCATION DAY on 24th January, 2022 and organized a WEBINAR ON DIGITAL LITERACY.  Mr.S.Bala Ganesh, Student Coordinator delivered the welcome address. Students of Internet club and Techie quest club participated in the session. Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics addressed the gathering. In her speech, she explained the importance and benefits of Open Education Resources (OER) for teaching-learning process. Further, she elaborated on creative commons and its usage. The session helped the students to learn creative works and educational access resources. Totally 44 students (21 students of Internet club and 23 students of Techie quest club) were benefitted by attending the session. Ms.S.R.Tharuni of I CS, delivered vote of thanks.    This interactive session was useful to the students.

Webinar on “Introduction to DevOps”

Netkings, an Association of Networking Department organized a webinar on “Introduction to DevOps” on 24.01.2022.The program was started with the prayer. Ms.P.Susmitha,II Networking delivered the welcome address . Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. Dr.S.Priya, Dean, Academics, delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal introduced the chief guest Mr.P.Sathish Kumar, IT Security Engineer, Orion Innovation, Chennai. He enlightened students on DevOps, DevOps Security tools and DevOps Database Administrator. He explained briefly the developments and operations of tools designed to increase an organization’s ability to the students. The chief guest also explained DevOps security tools available for security practices such as Codacy, Aqua Security, Whitesource, Burp Proxy, LogRhythm SIEM and CyberArk. The students who participated got an exposure which will be helpful for their employability. Totally 27 students from I & II Networking were benefited through this workshop. Mr.P.Praveen Kumar ,II Networking proposed the Vote of thanks.

 

SLCS – Samaaj seva- Extension Activity on “Digital Literacy”

Mr.M.Athigopal and Mr.V.Deepan Chakkaravarthy of the Department of Networking along with five students of Networking Department conducted an Extension Activity on the topic “Digital Literacy” on 07/01/2022 (Friday) for the benefits of the students of  KN Nadar Higher Secondary School at Koodakovil. Through this activity ,  the school students gained valuable information on the following topics  of  “ Impact of Cyber Security in society such as identifying fraudulent data access and  monitoring criminal activities, Internet Connectivity and Computer components needed for the interactive  communication process”.Totally 60 students were benefited through this extension activity.

WORKSHOP ON “SERVER CONFIGURATION USING AWS”

Netkings, an Association of Networking Department organized a two day “Workshop on Server Configuration using AWS” on 27th and 28th December, 2021 for I and II Year Networking students. The session started with the prayer. Welcome address was given by Ms.R.K.Harilakshmi – II Networking. Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal, Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal, Dr.K.Archunan. Dr.S.Priya, Dean Academics delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal, Head of the Department, introduced the chief guest. The Resource person of the workshop was Mr.Nantha Kumar Rajasekaran, Founder & CEO of NervyGrid, Madurai. He explained on Cloud Computing and its opportunities in the Cloud Platform. His brief explanation made everyone aware about Cloud industries and AWS-EC2 Computing configuration, SSH using PuTTy Tool with hands on approach. He also focused on today’s industrial needs in the IT sector. He shared his experience as an Entrepreneur. At last he cleared all the queries raised by students. At the end of the session he gave advice on the prospects of the career to every student. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.E.Ponsakthi,II B.Sc Networking . Finally the program came to an end with the National Anthem. Totally 27 students were benefited through this workshop.

WORKSHOP ON “CLOUD COMPUTING”

Netkings, an Association of Networking Department organized a one day workshop on “Cloud Computing” on 24.12.2021.The program was started with the prayer. Ms.P.Susmitha,II Networking delivered the welcome address . Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. . Dr.S.Priya, Dean academics delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal introduced the chief guest Mr.G.Aravind Raj, Networking Engineer,Vectra Technosoft Pvt.Ltd,Chennai. He explained briefly about Cloud Computing,  Services, Models, Virtualization and  Cloud security challenges. The chief guest also explained  different open source tools available for cloud configuration named as OpenStack, CloudWatch,Infrastructure Manager, Cloud Monitoring Tool, AppDynamics and  Solar Winds.He also deliberated upon using EC2 services and accessing a host server remotely.  Totally 27 students from I & II Networking, were benefited through this workshop.
