MENTOR MEETING REPORT

A Mentor Meeting for the Even semester 2020 – 2021 was conducted on 19.03.2021 in F41 class room. All mentors in the department met their mentees separately at 12.35 PM. Students shared their grievances and various personal problems to their mentors.

INTERNET CLUB- BRAIN GAME COMPETITION

                The members of Internet Club conducted the competition “Brain Games” on 12.03.2021 in Academic Lab. All I, II and III year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

                   Totally 64 students participated in this event. Two students participated per team. This event was a memory based one which includes speed maths, fast paced exercises. These games cultivate fast thinking skills of the students. Finally three teams had been shortlisted for awarding prizes. It was really an entertaining and informative event for the participants.

ALUMNUS INTERACTION

The Department of Networking organized an Alumnus interaction session for the  I B.Sc Networking students on 10th March 2021  in the  Linux lab. Mr Prasanna Kumar  spoke about the requisite skills to become a successful entrepreneur. He said that the line of action should be initiated right from the present day for those with passion in this field. He, also, mentioned the various opportunities available and the rewarding experiences that one can attain in this field.

The topics of interaction were:

  1. Higher studies
  2. Placement
  3. Entrepreneurship

Students shared their grievances and various personal problems to their mentors. All mentors enquired about the grievances of their mentees.

Webinar on “Amazon Web Services”

The Department of Computer Science, SLCS and Accent Techno Soft (ATS), Coimbatore jointly organized a Webinar on “Amazon Web Services” for the II B.Sc Networking students on 15.02.2021. Mr.M.Athigopal, HoD, Dept. of Networking, introduced the Chief Guest .Mr.K.Santhosh Kumar, Social Media Analyst, Accent Techno Soft (ATS), Coimbatore was the trainer. The Session was organized by Mr. J.Rajkumar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computer Science.Total 40 Students (15 Students from Networking and 25 Students from Computer Science) participated in the Webinar, which was conducted through Google Meet. The session started with an introduction to Cloud Computing, followed by its importance.

The key terminologies of Cloud Computing were explained by the trainer, after which, the students raised their queries and clarified their doubts. This webinar was useful for the students, who got to know the various services of Cloud Computing. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs.N.Anuradha,HoD, Department of Computer Science. The webinar ended with the students giving a positive feedback.

EXTENSION ACTIVITY

Department of Networking organized an Extension Activity wherein six students and two faculty members went to Therkkuvasal Nadar Higher Secondary School at Madurai on 13.02.2021. Mr M.Athigopal Head of the Department and Mr V.Deepan Chakkaravathy, Instructor, from the Department of Networking addressed the students of the school about computers and its functions.

 The students of SLCS assembled and shifted the systems in the new computer laboratory and checked the hardware and software configuration. Students demonstrated the computer and its functionality. It was a good exposure for the students and also a hands-on experience for their career growth.Totally 96 students were benefited in this program.

FDP on E-Content & MOOC Development

The Department of Computer Science, Department of Networking and ICT Committee of SLCS together organized a one-day FDP on E-Content & MOOC Development for all staff members in F40 hall at SLCS on 15th December, 2020. Mr N. Ramkeerthi, Producer, EMRC, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai was invited as the chief guest for the event.
Mr. M/ Athigopal, HoD, Department of Networking gave a warm welcome to the chief guest and everyone present there.
Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, SLCS delivered the presidential address.
Mrs. N. Anuradha, HoD, Department of Computer Science introduced the chief guest.
Mr. M. Ramkeerthi, the chief guest, spoke about his attachment with the former Principal of SLCS, Dr. R. Ramamoorthi and started his session by explaining the teaching aids that a teacher employs to pass on knowledge to a larger group. He, then, explained various aspects of e-content, e-learning, different learning styles, incorporation of instructional designs, forms of e-content elements, components of e-content and voice cadence for educational communication. His speech was so enlightening and beneficial that everyone could create e- content and use them in an effective manner.
Finally, Dr. P. Joe Arun Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Networking, proposed the vote of thanks.

Mentor Meeting Report

The Department of Networking conducted an Online Mentor Meeting on 16-10-2020 (Friday) at Linux Lab. Mr M.Athigopal, Head of the Department met his mentees between 11.50 AM and 12.40 PM. During the mentor meeting, students shared their difficulties and grievances with the mentor.

Career Counseling Program on Opportunities in Networking Field

The Department of Networking organized a Career Counseling Program on Opportunities in Networking Field, for the I B.Sc. Networking students on 25th September, 2020. Ms B.Lakshmipriya, an Alumna spoke about the career path to be pursued and emphasized that students have to choose a career that is closed to their heart. Students got clarity about choosing a career and also the various opportunities in the Networking field. She urged them to opt for a career with self motivation and interest as this will lead to success and fulfillment of dreams. She further added that students must match their interest and skills with an aptly chosen career. Totally 16 students got benefited by this program.
