  4. Job responsibility of each and every individual position and persons,

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

The department of marine catering and hotel management has organized the teacher’s day celebration at training Restaurant on 05.09.2019. All teaching and non teaching members are participated for this function. Student has expressed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day.  This day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – second President of India.

Totally 100 staff participated in this event.

SEMINAR ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized a Seminar on “ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY “ held on 29.08.2019.   We have invited as chief guest Mr.P.Srinivasan, Assistant Professor working in IPHC,  Mekelle University, Ethiopia . He has delivered a wonderful and use full message to the students community in the terms of entrepreneurship in Hospitality industry.

SEMINAR ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

Food Safety Management Training

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized certificate programme on Food Safety Management offered by the Food Safety Training for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students from 21.08.2019 to 22.08.2019 for two days.

202 students from MC&HM & 27 students from FS&PM actively participated in this programme. The chief guest DR. PASUPATHY VENKAT Food Safety to FHRAI, SIHRA, HRAI, HEAI, TNBF, Diamond Trainer on FOSTAC, Chennai provided wonderful session related to various Safety, Food Law and Regulation in food. Finally the students were evaluated by giving them a written Test and feedback.

COURSE COMMITTEE MEETING

Dept of MC&HM conducted Course Committee Meeting on 16.08.2019at 12.30 p.m. for the I, II  and III year students.

The following points were discussed in this meeting:

  1. Students deficiencies related to the course with remedial actions
  2. Current syllabus
  3. Lesson Plan and Subject Coverage.
  4. Teaching methodology
  5. Department Activity

Career Counseling Program

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Career Counseling Program for third year students on 02.08.2019. Mr. Shankar, presently working in China as Technical Manager in Chemistry, shared his experience to the students. The following points were discussed with students in that session.

  1. The food habits in China.
  2. Herbs available and usages as food
  3. Job opportunity in the Hotel Industry in China

Extension Activity

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an extension activity in Nedumadurai Government School on 31/07/2019. Our Department faculty members Mr.C.SURESH KUMAR HOD, Mrs G.S. Subbulakshmi, Asst Prof, Mr.P. Anand, Asst Prof ) presented  a PPT presentation and detailed explanation were given to the students to create awareness  of  food safety and hygiene  in their day- to -day life.

FOSTAC Food Safety Training

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management faculty members attended a one day workshop on “Food safety training & certification offered by FOSTAC organized by “IDHAYAM PARIKSHAN & TAMILNADU BAKERY FEDERATION” on 29.07.2019 at VIRUDHUNAGAR.

Three faculty members participated in this workshop and the Chief Guest Dr.PASUPATHI has given wonderful session related to various aspects in food safety

BRIDGE COURSE

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a bridge course for the first year students from 2.7.2019 to 4.7.2019.   Mr. C. Sureshkumar, Head of the Department addressed the students and informed about the rules and regulations, Department Discipline, Academic details, Syllabus, Lesson plan, Attendance, Department Activity for the Academic year 2019, introduced the faculty members and Courses handling staff , and handed over the Bridge course manual, lesson plan, time table, attendance log sheet to the class representative. The respective staff members started their bridge course according to the schedule given by the Head of the Department.
