INDIAN ARMY DAY

The department of Languages of SLCS salutes the sacrifice of soldiers who were martyred protecting the country and its citizens. In remembering this, the department celebrated the Indian Army Day on January 17th, 2022 (since January 15th, 2022 was a holiday). The students were given a task to take up a e-quiz to know more facts about the act of valour of our majestic Indian Army. Totally 176 students participated in the e-quiz circulated through the google form. The e-certificates were also sent to all the participations.

Saluting all the Indian Army men for their bravery, dedication and patriotism. Happy Indian Army Day!

CAREER COUNSELING ON PRINCIPLES OF SAFETY MAMAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized a one day Career counseling program through our Alumnus for 40 students of UG F&IS on 17/01/2022. Our College Alumnus Mr.M.Vengadesh, (2018-2021 Batch) Safety-superviser, Shakthi Auto component limited, Tiruppur was the resource persons for the program. He shared his Industrial experience & job opportunities in Safety Management System. He explained the responsibilities and importance of the safety profession. He also gave assurance for the internship and placement assistance. He also gave useful suggestion and ideas to the B.Sc (Fire and Industrial Safety) students for a bright future. At the end of the program an interactive session was arranged for the I,II,III Year UG FIS and PG students students who participated in the program. The students of F&IS and engineering graduates felt very happy for arranging such a useful Career guidance  program which helped them to build their Career for a bright future.

Thiruvalluvar Day 2022 Celebration

The Students Forum celebrated Thiruvalluvar Day on 15 and 16 of January.  It was celebrated as a part of Pongal celebration. Since Thirukural is sent every day to students to their mail id, in the name of PURL KURAL, they were very enthusiastic in participating in an online story writing and drawing competition. They were instructed to write stories and draw pictures and sent it to the mail. Thiruvalluvars insight brought about in his 1330 couplets or Kurals helped the students to learn virtues of daily life. In total 60 students participated and benefitted from the program. Webinar on National energy conservation day

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, Environmental Health and Safety club and eco club celebrated the National energy conservation day awareness program through online on 12.1.2022. The B.Sc., F&IS students, Environmental Health & Safety club and Eco club students’ members participated in this program. Totally 56 participants (35 members from 2 clubs and 21 students from F&IS) got benefitted through the webinar. Mr.B.Sateesh Prabhu , Assistant Professor of F&IS gave the guest lecture on National energy conservation day. He elaborately explained the theme of national conservation day of this year and the importance of energy conservation .He also explained the employment opportunity in the field of renewable energy. The theme of National conservation day 2022 ‘Azadika Amrit Mahotsav: Energy Efficient India” and ‘Azadika Amrit Mahotsav: Cleaner Planet’ was insisted towards the students.

Webinar on “Introduction to Six Sigma”

The webinar on the topic“Introduction to Six Sigma” was organised by the “Lakshya” Department Association of MBA Program on 12th Jan’ 2022 at 10.30 am through Google Meet (YouTube Live). Mr. Venkatesh Ravi, MBA from TSM – BIZP  Consultant was the key note speaker of the session. The various aspects of Six Sigma was comprehended through this session. The webinar was organised to enhance the students’ capability to face the competitive world. Totally 75 MBA students (I- MBA 67 & II MBA 8) were benefited out of this event and Prof. P. Selvam was the event co-ordinator of this webinar.

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY / YUWA DIVAS 2022

The Students Forum, Students Corner Club in association with NSS celebrated the NATIONAL YOUTH DAY / YUWA DIVAS 2022 on 12th January, 2022 and organized a Quiz Competition on the life of Swamiji Vivekananda. Students enthusiastically participated in the quiz competition and gained lots of insights. The responses were scrutinised by Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics and Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya, Coordinator, Students Forum. The quiz was shared in a Google form and 284 responses were collected from students and faculty members. The quiz enlightened the students to honour the ideals and thoughts of Swamiji Vivekananda who had tremendous faith in youth. Students learnt moral and ethical values through this quiz. Totally 284 students were benefited by attending this online quiz.            E-Certificates were issued to the students.

Visual Session on “Information Security Awareness”

The Techie Quest Club conducted a Visual Session on “Information Security Awareness” for the club members on 12.01.2022 via Google Meet. The student’s coordinator Mr. Abdul Riyan welcomed the gathering and conducted the event. He briefed the required information about security measures and their importance in the IT industry. The event was conducted for a group of 17 students, they enjoyed and said that it was a new concept and it would be very useful for them in their future endeavors.

The sole aim of the activities conducted is to impart skills to the target group that will help to build their confidence and thus inculcate a sense of social responsibility among the students.

Webinar on “Professional Values and Ethics in the Food Service Industry”

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Webinar on “Professional Values and Ethics in the Food Service Industry” for first and second year students (71 students) on 11.1.2022. Mr.G.Nanthakumar, alumnus of MCHM (batch 2001 to 2004) presently working as General Manager, Thapovan Resort, Kodaikanal, has been invited as the resource person. In his speech, he created awareness among the students about the “Professional Values and Ethics in the Food Service Industry” and he insisted on the aim of Food Service Industry is to increase profit and secure employment and the scope of ethics in the food industry in relation to food safety.

    Furthermore, he briefly elaborated the ethics and principles such as Employee Relations, Food Safety, Supplier Standards, Public Health Issues, and Consumers worried about new technologies. He added that food production is more complex than any other process and several ethical issues are raised in relation to agricultural practices and the food supply chain. Lastly, the pre-cautionary principle and framework for ethical decision-making in the food industry are highlighted for the business owner level and on the frontline.

       This program helped the students to understand the professional values and ethics in the Food Service Industry. Besides, it gave a good exposure for all the participants.

Health and Nutrition club – World Vegan Day Celebration

To commemorate “World Vegan Day”, Department of Food Science and Processing Management and Health & Nutrition Club jointly organized an Online Quiz Contest on the theme “Future Normal” for the students on 1.11.2022 through Google forms-(https://forms.gle/qc1jrT93yAMR1vfE7). This activity is conducted to create awareness, highlight the benefits of veganism for animals, humans and the environment.  Totally, 335 members participated and got benefited through this program.
