The Students Forum of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science
organized an awareness seminar titled “Creating Hope, Strength and Emotional
Resilience” on 10 September 2026 (Thursday) at the TVR Hall from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15
p.m., in connection with World Suicide Prevention Day.
The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students
about mental well-being, hope, emotional resilience, open communication, empathy, and
the importance of seeking support during challenging situations.
The session was addressed by Ms. Gayathri Mahathi K., MSW, PGDCG, Founder,
Aaliya Mindfulness Centre, who served as the Chief Guest and Resource Person.
During the session, the resource person addressed several aspects relevant to the emotional
and psychological well-being of young people. The presentation focused on Generation Z
and the challenges faced by today's youth, including the characteristics and challenges
associated with the adolescent brain.
The session also highlighted the influence of social media, including social media triggers
and the distinction between original IDs, group IDs, follower IDs and fake IDs. The
presentation further discussed the “AHA Effect” as a reward, connecting it with
behavioural and emotional aspects.
The seminar provided students with an opportunity to reflect on their emotional well-being
and understand the importance of healthy coping mechanisms, supportive relationships,
positive communication, and seeking appropriate help when facing emotional
difficulties.
The programme was informative and meaningful, creating greater awareness among students
about the importance of valuing life, developing emotional strength, maintaining healthy
relationships, and supporting one another. The session concluded with a positive message
of hope, resilience and responsible emotional well-being.
