Culinary Competitions

The Culinary Club conducted a Culinary Competition on 15.03.2022. The competition was held between 11.00 a.m. and 12.30p.m under the theme “Fireless Cooking”.  It was open to all the students of various departments. Students have enrolled their names enthusiastically to the convener for the Culinary Competition. Totally 6 teams (12 students) have participated in this competition. The participants have prepared different delicious dishes and the judgment was given by Mrs.Deepalakshmi, Assistant Professor, FS&PM and Dr.H.Geetha , Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil.

Extension Activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on “Benefits of Breast Feeding for Lactating Mothers and Infants”

FAGAS, an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) for Lactating mothers at a Primary Health Centre, Valayankulam on 15.03.2022. 13 students of II Year FSPM briefed the advantages of breast feeding for both lactating mothers and infants. Our students highlighted some dietary guidelines, suggested some healthy meal patterns and distributed pamphlets to them.

SLCS SAMAJ SEVA – Outreach Programme on “Creating Basic Awareness on Consumer Rights”

The Consumer Awareness Club along with ZEAL, Department of BBA Association organized SLCS SAMAJ SEVA – Outreach Programme on  “Creating Basic Awareness on Consumer Rights” on 15.03.2022 (World Consumer Rights Day) (Tuesday) at Valayankulam Village, Madurai District.

The Program started at 10.00 a.m.wherein Dr. K. Rajesh Kumar – HOD BBA and Mr. B. Vairamuthu – Assistant Professor, BBA along with the Students of I BBA and II BBA participated in the event. The participants took a rally along the Aruppukottai Road National Highway and reached Valayankulam village. They also created awareness among the consumers about the basic consumer rights by carrying the Placards with messages on consumer rights.

26 students from I BBA and 29 students from II BBA (Totally 55 students) including the members of Consumer Awareness Club were benefited by this programme.  The programme was well appreciated by the village people.

Swachh Bharat – Cleaning drive at Samanar Hills, Keelakuilkudi

ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an outreach activity, “Swachh Bharat – Cleaning Drive” at Samanar Hills, Keelakuilkudi on 15.03.2022.  26 students from I BBA and 29 students from II BBA participated in this outreach activity along with Dr.K.Rajesh Kumar, HoD – BBA & Mr.B.Vairamuthu, AP – BBA. This program was organized under the banner of  SLCS Samaaj Seva activity of our college. Students collected plastic waste in the surrounding areas, thereby applied their skills inculcated from the Environmental Studies Course which was taught to them in their I Semester.

 

NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP ON “NEW TRANSFORMATION IN ACCOUNTING EDUCATION”

                          The Department of Commerce (HONOURS & ACCA) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted a National level workshop on “NEW TRANSFORMATION IN ACCOUNTING EDUCATION” on the eve of celebrating Indian accounting association foundation day on 15.03.2022 (Tuesday). The workshop was started with the welcome address given by Dr. D.Selvaraj, Head of the Department, Commerce (ACCA) and the Presidential address was given by the Principal Dr. R. Sujatha.

                  Dr.A.Mayil Murugan, Professor of The Madhura College, Dr.Rosy Godwin, Professor of Lady Doak College and Dr.Harjit Singh, Professor of The Amity University were the key speakers of the program.  They shared information on recent trends and transformation in Accounting Practice. They also shared information on market expectation from the current accounting graduates.

Totally, 248 students and 12 Faculty members participated and got benefitted through the session.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AND AWARENESS OF ITS EFFECTS ON HEALTH

Hebert William Henrich Association of Fire and Industrial Safety department organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an Outreach activity on “ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AND AWARENESS OF ITS EFFECTS ON HEALTH” at Kariapatti on 14/03/2022. Our Department faculty members Mr. A.Jaiveer Kumar & Mr.V.Dhamotharan along with I & II year students have conducted the activity. Totally 2 faculty members and 9 students participated in the event. They created awareness on effect of alcohol consumption among the Auto mobile drivers and also insisted the people to wear Mask and Helmet while driving. The students also explained that Drinking alcohol is associated with a risk of developing health problems such as mental and behavioral disorders, including alcohol dependence, major non communicable diseases such as liver cirrhosis, some cancers and cardiovascular diseases, as well as injuries resulting from violence and road clashes and collisions.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize not to consume alcohol while driving and highlight about health issues related to it. The Auto drivers render their Cooperation & the involvement of the faculty and the students were commendable to reach out the maximum number of population in the society. Totally 20 people got benefited through the awareness campaign.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM ON “JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN IT INDUSTRY”

The Department of Computer Science and Networking jointly organized a Career Guidance programme on “Job Opportunities in IT Industry”on 14.03.2022 for the II &III year students of B.Sc Computer Science &B.Sc Networking at SLCS Auditorium. Totally 101 students participated in this session.

Mr.Baburajan,Senior Consultant, Tata Consulting services was the chief guest. Mr.Aathi Gopal, Head, Dept. of Networking delivered a welcome address and introduced the chief guest.Mrs.R.Sujatha, Principal delivered a presidential address.

The resource person Mr. Baburajan shared his industrial experience among the students.

 He explained the interview procedures of Tata Consulting Services. He also explained   TCS online recruitment procedure for the different domains such as B.Sc CS, BCA, etc,. He revealed the nuances and tips for solving TCS interview online test such as Aptitude, Numerical, Technical, Verbal and Communication.

He encouraged the students to develop their in-depth subject knowledge and to attend the interviews with self-confidence.He clarified all the queries raised by the students.Finally Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Dept. of CS delivered a vote of thanks.Overall the session was very useful for the students to prepare for their upcoming interviews.

Industrial Visit to R.S.Mills, Dindigul.

The Department of Commerce B.com ( B&I) organized an Industrial Visit to R S Mills in Dindigul  on  14.03.2022 for the B.Com (B&I) II  Year students. This visit helped the students to understand the manufacture of various types of Roasting machine and process of roasting nuts, grains, seeds. They were accompanied by faculty members Mrs.V.Padmavathy, Head of the Department and Mrs.R.Nithyakalyani, Assistant Professor, Commerce.  Totally 64 students   got benefited  through this visit.

FACE PAINTING COMPETITION REPORT

The members of Internet Club conducted the “FACE PAINTING” competition on 14.03.2022 at Drawing Hall, Department of Animation. The theme of the competition was Environment Conservation. Students from I and  II year of various departments participated in the event. The club coordinator  Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya , delivered the welcome address and announced the rules and regulations of the event. Two students participated per team. Totally 20 students participated in the event. This event helped the students to bring out their creative ideas and talents. Students portrayed the environmental issues and measures to be followed to conserve it. Finally three teams got shortlisted by the judges for awarding prizes. It was really a creative session which exhibited the artistic skills of the students.
