Training program on “Stress Management”

ZEAL, an Association of BBA, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a training program on “Stress Management” on 09.03.2022 for top level employees of Ruby Food Products Private Limited, Madurai. Dr.K.Rajesh Kumar, HoD – BBA has been invited as the resource person. He elaborated the various reasons related to stress management and the ways and means to tackle it. The participants found the training program to be so dynamic and interesting. A total of 14 employees participated and got benefited through this program.

INSTRUMENT PLAYING

The members of Techie Quest Club organized an Intra College competition “Instrument Playing” on 08.03.2021 at 11.00 AM in F40 Hall. I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club co-ordinator Mrs.V.Gayathri, Assistant Professor of CS welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

Totally 06 students participated in this event. It is a single participant game. The game was organized in 2 categories such as Rhythm & Percussion.

HANDS-ON TRAINING ON MS-OFFICE TOOLS – I

The Department of Computer Science (SSS), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Hands-on Training on MS-Office Tools – I” on 07.03.2022 from 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM at our Internet Lab for the 8^th standard students from T.P.K.P.U Middle School, Nedumadurai. Six students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) gave training in MS-Paint to the school students. They explained all the tools and menus in MS-Paint. Finally they made the school students to draw car, house and scenery in MS-Paint. Overall 24 students from T.P.K.P.U Middle School, Nedumadurai got benefitted by involving themselves in this activity.

Webinar on “Cyber Forensics”

The Department of Networking through NETKINGS organized a webinar on “Cyber Forensics” on 05.03.2022.The program was started with the prayer. Ms.R.K.HariLakshmi,II Networking delivered the welcome address. Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. Dr.S.Priya, Dean, Academics, delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal introduced the chief guest Mr.S.Kabilan, Security Engineer, Invygo, Coimbatore. He enlightened students on Kali Linux operating system with execution of its commands. He explained briefly the techniques used in cyber forensics for scanning the networks and enumeration concept. Also there was a hands on session on social media hijacking. The chief guest also explained ethical hacking tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, Aircrack-Ng and network security algorithms such as RSA, DES, and AES were also discussed. The students who participated got an exposure towards bug bounty and Catch The Flag (CTF) events, which will be helpful for their employability. Totally 27 students from I & II Networking were benefited through this webinar. Ms.P.Susmitha , II Networking proposed the Vote of thanks.

Extension Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) – Awareness Program on Digital Transaction

On behalf of the Department of Networking,Ms.T.Shunmugapriya, Assistant Professor, along with three students conducted an Extension Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) on 04/03/2022 (Friday) for the benefit of the women belonging to self Help Group namely Alponsa at K.Pudur . Through this activity, the women gained valuable information on the topics such as how one can make simple, easy and quick transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and how can they make direct bank payments to anyone on UPI using their UPI ID or scanning their QR code with the app and how they can request money through the app from a UPI ID. She also elaborated on the benefits of app such as fastness, hassle-free and the cheapest way of money transfer, which any one can do from anywhere and at anytime(works on 24×7 basis) and prerequisites to use UPI is to have a bank account with a member bank.The laywomen gained knowledge on how to submit online application for Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Balika Samridhi Yojana, Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana Schemes. Totally 30 women were benefited through this extension activity.

SLCS Samaaj seva – 51st National Safety Day celebration

Herbert William Heinrich Association of Fire and Industrial Safety department celebrated the 51 st National Safety Day on (4.3.22). On behalf of the department, 51 st National Safety badges were distributed to all the students of Fire and Industrial Safety department. Second year students from the departments of Food science, MC&HM, Animation, Viscom, Networking, Computer Science and BBA participated in the program. Second year student Mr.A.Rahul took the pledge on the occasion of the 51 st National Safety Day along with the students and staff members. Mr.T.Vishwa, F&IS II year student gave the welcome address. The Principal, Dr.R.Sujatha, in her presidential address, emphasized that wearing of masks is mandatory during the covid-19 pandemic. Dr.S.Priya, Dean –Academics, gave the felicitation address. Our chief guests were Mr.K.R.Ravichandiran, EHS consultant and Mr.R.Prabhu, Manager- Environment, Safety and Health from TVS Sundram Fasteners. Mr.R.Brameshwaran , gave a brief introduction about the chief guest. The Chief Guest Mr.K.R.Ravichandiran spoke about the history of National Safety Council and the reasons for celebrating National Safety Day. He underscored the theme of the National Safety Day 2022, that is, “Nurture young minds. Develop Safety Culture.” He shared his experience on the behaviour based accidents in Industries.He, finally shared videos of the various types of road accidents. Mr D.Balaji, II year F&IS proposed the vote of thanks.

Totally 242 students got benefited through this program.

Webinar on “Penetration Testing Tools & Techniques”

The department of Computer Science (SSS) organized a webinar on “Penetration Testing Tools & Techniques” for the students of II B.Sc CS (SSS) on 03-03-2022 from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm at seminar hall. Ms.Subashini & Ms.Sivashankari of II B.Sc CS (SSS) compered the entire session.

The programme started with the welcome address delivered by Mr.Bala Murugan of II B.Sc CS(SSS). Mr.Aashiq Ahamad, Security Associate,Crossbow Labs,Bangalore was introduced by Ms.Anuradha . The special address was delivered by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department,CS(SSS). Mrs.V.Gayathri, AP,CS(SSS) gave a felicitation address and explained the purpose of organizing Penetration Testing Tools & Techniques of webinar.

Mr. Aashiq Ahamad, the resource person, joined the session through google meet and explained the role of penetration tester (Ethical Hacker) in the current IT industry. He further demonstrated the usgae of various pentest tools such as acunetix, Burp Suite, Indusface, Metasploit,etc., Totally 51 students of II B.Sc CS(SSS) particiapted in the webinar.

Finally the session ended with a vote of thanks rendered by Mr.Pranava Kumar of III B.Sc CS(SSS).

Career opportunities in shipping Industry

On 3.3.2022, the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a career guidance program to the second years (31 students) for creating awareness on shipping industry. Mr. Thirumalraj K, our department alumnus, is currently employed as a General Steward in Fleet Management at Mumbai. He shared his experience with the students about “Career opportunities in shipping industry”.He delivered the duties and responsibilities of shipping, importance of emergency station , maintenance of safety and life savings equipment which includes life boats and fire fighting drills. The student’s confidence was enhanced after attending this program.

Extension Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – “Social Media Awareness”

Lakshaya an Association of the Department of MBA, organised an Extension Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) “Social Media Awareness” on 3^rd March 2022, at 12 noon at Eliyarpathi Village in Maduri District. The event was organised to create awareness about social media with regard to prevention of frauds in banking activities. The students briefed about phishing, vishing, smishing, brand spoofing and carding. 4 first year MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. S. Sekar and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.
