Industrial Visit to Sea Blue Ship Yard @ Cochin

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized an Industrial visit to Sea Blue Ship Yard at Cochin on 04.11.2022.  The purpose of this visit is to learn the various processes of maintenance and repairing works and also rebuilding the existing ships.  Mr. E. Tojen, Director – Operations, presented the details of the various departments that is functioning towards repairing and rebuilding the ships.  He further explained the safety measures that they follow during their work. Students learnt in detail on the various steps involved in repairing and maintaining different types of ships and had a great learning experience during this visit.

The students also visited the ship yard and had a practical exposure of the repairing and maintenance work. Totally, 30 students from III BBA were benefited by this visit.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN CYBER SECURITY DOMAIN

The Technofest Association, Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization), organized a session on Career Opportunities in Cyber Security Domain for II& III B. Sc CS (SSS) on 04/11/2022. Ms. S. Shruthikaa, Senior Analyst at Ernst & Young LLP, Chennai, acted as the resource person. S. Bala Ganesh, III B. Sc CS (SSS) welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal. The keynote address was given by Mrs. D. Padmapriya, Head of the Department. The chief guest introduction was delivered by Mrs. N. Anuradha, Assistant Professor. The resource person explained the importance of learning Cryptography and its implementation through Java programming. She explained job opportunities in cyber security domain by sharing her own experience as a Cyber Security Analyst. Totally, 71 students participated in the event and they made the event interactive and got all the doubts clarified.  Finally, vote of thanks was delivered by S. Jeyaraman, III B. Sc CS (SSS).

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA –OUTREACH ACTIVITY ON “EMERGENCY RESCUE AND FIRST AID”

         Herbert William Henrich Association of the Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an outreach activity on “EMERGENCY RESCUE AND FIRST AID” at Vellimalai Reserve Forest, near Dindigul, on 02/11/2022. Totally, 3 faculty members Mr.I.Vivek Ramkumar, HoD i/c & Mr.B.Satheeshprabu and Mr.R.Brameshwaran, Assistant professors along with 34 FIS Students (I year, II year, III year, P.G.Diploma) conducted the activity. They conducted an activity on emergency rescue and first aid. This initiative created awareness on taking necessary steps in emergency situations. The students gained knowledge on how to rescue and offer first aid. During this activity students planted samplings to save our environmental health.  The aim of this campaign is to spread the importance of safety measures during the emergency rescue periods. Finally, to test the fitness of the students, we all went to a trekking to sirumalai hills was organized.  Around 15 Peoples get benefitted from the activity.

Career Guidance Programme on “Expectations from the Fresher in the Advertising Sector”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Programme on “Expectations from the Fresher in the Advertising Sector” on 02.11.2022 at 12.00p.m. in the Animation Academic Lab– III of our college premises.

Mr.S.Saravanan, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering.  Ms. Dhivya, Human Resource Manager, Menorah Stationaries – Madurai,was the chair person of the day. She explained, “Employment opportunities for a fresher in India have increased in manifold over the last few years. The only way to have an edge over others in the job market is to assess yourself and hone your employable skills accordingly. Employers look for certain basic qualities and if you can groom yourself to meet their expectation, you can secure your dream job in no time”. She also insisted, “Talk to seniors who are already in the job or use the internet to develop the relevant skills in the Advertising Sector. Whatever skills you mention as your strengths, to impress your employer, should be kept ready with ideas to support to achieve clarity. Basically, you should be strong in fundamentalsof the designing software and be good in analytical & communication skills”. She concluded her speech by saying, “Sound communication will help you to grab the attention of all and you can easily carve a place for yourself in the organization.”

The programme concluded effectively and received a positive feedback from the students. Totally,28 students were benefitted through this event.

Ship In Campus (T.S. Meenakshi) Visit at RLINS

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized a Ship in Campus visit to R L Institute of Nautical Sciences on 01.11.2022.  The purpose of this visit is to learn the infrastructure arrangement within the Training Ship T.S. Meenakshi, including Boilers, Generators, Main Engine, Propeller, Crank Shaft and other auxiliary machines that enable the ship for smooth sailing. Mr. Jothimurugan and Mr. R. Ramasamy, the Ship in Campus in-charges explained in detail the working nature of the ship. Totally, 56 students from I BBA were benefited by this Ship in Campus visit.

Factory Visit to VVV & Sons Edible Oils Limited

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized a factory visit to V.V.V. & Sons Edible Oils Limited on 31.10.2022.  The purpose of this visit is to learn the processing of edible oils such as Sesame oil, Ground Oil and Mustard Oil. Mr. Sivamurugan, HR Manager, presented the details of their well known brands such as Idhayam, Mantra and Sambandhi sesame etc.  He further explained the cleaning process they undergo for sesame seeds that brings about quality for their products. Students learnt in detail on the various steps involved in manufacturing oil and had a great learning experience on Oil production process. Finally, one month free samples for oil pulling were given to all students. Totally, 49 students from II BBA & III BBA were benefited by this factory visit.

Outreach Program (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on “Together We Rise”

                     Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Outreach Program (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) “Together We Rise” for working women in a textile shop on 31.10.2022. Our students educated the general public, particularly women, about breast cancer, its identification, treatment, the necessity for an effective, long-lasting preventive cure, and the importance of self-examination to check for lumps or other solid growths in the breasts. If there is a persistent lump in the breast or any change in the breast tissue, always consult a doctor for a clinical breast examination. Totally 13 students of II FSPM participated in this outreach program and 25 members got benefited through this activity.

Students Achievement in ACCA Exam

Mr. J.Sanjay and Ms. B.Kothaiandal, of B.Com., (Honours) ACCA 2019 Batch, successfully passed the Knowledge Level Examination in ACCA papers of Financial Reporting (F7) and Financial Management (F9) conducted by The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK on 31.10.2022. They are going to appear for Auditing & Assurance (F8) ACCA paper and they have applied for a job to work with various MNCs in India. The academic performance is highly appreciable and career guidance is given by our Professors, Principal and the Management. The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA appreciated the remarkable performance of Mr. J.Sanjay and Ms. B.Kothaiandal in the ACCA Exams.

 

Fresher’s Party

The Department of Commerce B.Com (Banking and Insurance) celebrated the “Fresher’s Party” on 30.10.2022.  The fresher’s day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. The celebration started at 2.00 PM at the RLINS Annexure Building, Seminar Hall. The fresher’s were formally welcomed into the B&I Department. The jury and other guests of honor were also introduced. Event started with a self introduction of 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year students. Everyone was impressive in their own way. Later on, the fun team of 3rd year and 2nd year students took over the stage in their own way of attracting the audience. After that, an excellent dance performance was given by 1st years. The senior students conducted games for the fresher’s, which is a real fun ever in college days. After completion of games seniors warmly welcomed our faculty members and distributed sweets. Finally, the  fresher’s were called on to the stage by seniors to give a small gifts and sweets to remember the day.

Career Guidance Programme cum Alumni Interaction on “Recent Trends in Gaming Industry”

D.P.Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance programme cum Alumni Interaction on “Recent Trends in Gaming Industry” on 29.10.2022 at 11.30 a.m. in the Animation Academic Lab – I of our college premises.

Mr.M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering.  Mr.SanthanaBharathy (2011-14), Lead Game Developer, Sports Tech Pvt. Ltd., acted as the alumni and guide.

He addressed that the COVID-19 pandemic inadvertently led to a tremendous growth in the gaming industry, as people had to stay home to be safe. Movies and online gaming became major sources of entertainment and the implementation of newer technologies in game production led to radical transformations, making online gaming even more outstanding and interactive than ever before. He also explained the concepts of AR Gaming, Gaming with Crypto-currency, Gaming and 5G, Cloud-based Gaming, Competitive Gaming and e-Sports. With the increasing use of smart-phones globally, the mobile gaming industry is expected to continue its upward growth and cross over 1.5 billion users by 2022. He concluded that the gaming industry is expected to latch onto this trend of invest and profit from the segment of players.
