Webinar on Creative Lighting Techniques “Mr. J. Pandiaraj”

The Department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on Creative Lighting Techniques for our Students on 18.09.2020. The inaugural session started at 02.00 pm. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor, gave a brief introduction about the college and the department. Mr. J. Pandiaraj, Assistant Cinematographer, Chennai was the guest of honor. He has worked with Mr. Rajiv Menon, renowned cinematographer, for various advertisements as lighting supervisor and camera operator. Mr. Sivarajan, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address.

During the session the guest presented on various types of lights used in films and he also demonstrated by playing the subsequent clip. The students were asked to identify where the lights were placed. They actively responded. He covered seven major areas of lighting used in films. He used references from classical movies to commercial films. He also shared his experience working as a lighting supervisor with various leading cinematographers in the film industry. The session went on well with a total number of 42 students participating actively. He gave the students exercises relating to lighting. Later, the students asked their queries. He responded to each and every students query and also provided career guidance. Students enjoyed the session very much and thanked the management for providing such a wonderful opportunity and expecting more such events in near future.   Mr. C. Webinar on Short Film Making with Sony Video Cameras

The Department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on “Short Film Making with Sony Video Cameras” on Tuesday, September 15 at 11:30 a.m – 1:45 p.m. The resource persons were Mr. Musthafa Basha Sony Specialist & Mr. R. Ahamed Abdullah Compositing Artist, D.I Online Editor, Rotoscopy Artistheld, handled the sessions via Google meet. A total number of 50 students participated in the webinar. Mr. C. Sivarajan, Instructor, Department of Visual Communication delivered welcome address.

The webinar session was initially handled by Mr. Musthafa Basha from 11.40 am to 12.30 pm and he covered the following topics during the live session.

  • Film making trends
  • Current trend & its shift
  • Basic structure of film making
  • Digital film Production
  • Multiple Line-up Knowledge
  • Codecs & Quality
  • Log

Then last session was handled by Mr.R.Ahamed Abdullah from 12.30 p.m to 1.45 p.m and he covered the following topics during the live session.

  • Post Production
  • Compositing
  • I (Color grading)

            The resource person also showed a demo of the color correction process by using the industry professional software like Davinci resolve. A clip from an advertisement was taken and it was demonstrated with the basic of color values.

Then, he also showed a demo of how simple visual effects can be done in short films. For this purpose, a clip was taken from a Telugu movie and it was composited with another clip to match the sequence by using motion tracking technique

The students and faculty members of the department attended the session. Students actively participated in the session by posting their queries and it was clarified by the resource persons. They also shared their professional experience and provided career guidance to the participants. Students were also given tasks during the session and our students responded well. Due to the positive response and interest from the students, the resource person expressed their willingness to handle another session in the forthcoming days.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by S. Abirami, final year student of Visual Communication. The students gathered lots of information and they requested the department members to conduct many more sessions in future.

Webinar on Awaken yourself to witness your own English

The department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on the topic “Awaken yourself to witness your own English” by Mr. Jegan Prakash for our students on 05.09.2020. A total number of 59 students participated in the event. The session was inaugurated at 04.00 pm. Mr. C. Rajavardhan, Instructor gave a brief introduction about the college and the department. The session was planned to create interest in English among students and teachers. Mr.Jegan Prakash, Director of English Clinic, Madurai was the guest of honor. He has wide knowledge and acted as a trainer in various MNC’s across the globe. Mr. Sivarajan, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address.

The guest spoke about the importance of English in the students and pointed out the common errors made by many while speaking English. He discussed his experience as trainer for past the 10 years and emphasized that “Practicing speaking in English makes us speak the language well”, he motivated the students to speak English regularly. At the end of the session students asked their queries, which were clarified by the guest. Students enjoyed the session very much and thanked the management for providing such a wonderful opportunity and are expecting more such events. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks. The event was a grand success.

WEBINAR ON ACTING THEORY II

The department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on Acting Theory II on 08.08.2020, as a continuation a webinar conducted on 01.08.2020. A total number of 50 students participated in the event which started at 04.30 pm. Mr. Rajavardhan, Head i/c gave an introduction to the acting theory. Mr. Shan Sudhakar, the expert for the day, provided tips along with co- actor and student Miss Aishwarya Manian on acting and provided career guidance. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor gave his tips on acting. Mr. Sivarajan, proposed the vote of thanks and the function concluded with the National Anthem.

Interaction with “Oh My Kadavule” Director through Webinar

The department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on direction for its students on 03.08.2020. A total number of 79 students participated in this event.  The session was inaugurated at 10.30 am. Mr. Rajavardhan, Instructor spoke about the college and the department of Visual Communication. Mr. Ashwath Marimuthu (Director, Oh My Kadavule), Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on Screenplay and Direction. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address. Mr. Sivarajan proposed the vote of thanks and the function concluded with the National Anthem.

Mr. Ashwath Marimuthu gave an elaborate lecture on the New Technology, Screenplay, Direction and the new technology used in film making. Students enthusiastically participated in this event and asked many technical oriented questions. The chief guest answered all the questions and at the end of the session he provided career guidance to the students. The program was a grand success.

WEBINAR ON THEORY OF SCIENTIFIC METHOD OF ACTING

The Department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on THEORY OF SCIENTIFIC METHOD OF ACTING for its students on 01.08.2020, a total number of 50 students have been participated in the event.  The inaugural session which was started by Mr. Rajavardhan, Head i/c briefed about the Department of Visual Communication. Mr. Shan Sudhakar, was the expert for the day. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address. Mr. Sivarajan proposed the vote of thanks and the function concluded with the National Anthem.

Mr. Shan Sudhakar said that acting is a type of Communication and covered aspects of acting. He explained the role of actors and the important role of characters. He also explained live expression. Mass media can instruct people and educate them. At the end of the session he provided career guidance to the students. The session was appreciated by the students.

WEBINAR ON TECHNOLOGY SESSION ON SONY ALPHA SERIES

The department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar, TECHNOLOGY SESSION ON SONY ALPHA SERIES for its students on 25.07.2020. A total number of 79 students participated in this event.  The inaugural session started at 10.30am with Mr. Rajavardhan, Instructor, giving the inaugural address. Mr. Sathesh, Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on Camera techniques. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address. Mr. Sivarajan proposed the vote of thanks and the function concluded with the National Anthem.

Cinematography and Studio Light was the topic of the session, Mr. Sathesh gave an illuminating lecture on New technology Bit rates, Codec’s, Cinema camera and Lighting. He also gave hands – on practice in camera handling to the students and also provided career guidance. The session was very beneficial to the students. They enthusiastically participated in this event and asked technical oriented questions, which were answered by the guest. The program was a grand success.

Webinar on Action Sunday with Actor “Mr. Kanna Ravi”

The Department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar, Action Sunday with Actor “Mr. Kanna Ravi” for its students on 19.07.2020. The inaugural session started at 04.00 pm. A total number of 55 students participated in the event. Mr. C. Rajavardhan, Instructor gave the inaugural address. Mr. Kanna Ravi, the guest of honor, is an Indian film Actor, who has worked predominantly in the Tamil Film industry. He has worked in popular movies like Kaithi, Veera and Mandela, and upcoming film to hit theaters, with Yogi Babu in lead roles. Mr. Sivarajan, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address.

The guest started the session by sharing his acting career and added that his entry into the Tamil cinema was a daring move despite his family issues.  He discussed his experience in cinema, which motivated the students as to how to look at everything as an opportunity and make use of it. He also shared the experience which he faced in each of his films. Later, students asked their queries regarding choosing acting as a career and the chief guest provided career guidance. He responded to all the students’ questions and clarified them. Students enjoyed the session very much and thanked the management for providing such a wonderful opportunity and are expecting many more such events in the near future.   Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks. WEBINAR ON MEDIA FOR DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION

The Department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar on MEDIA FOR DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION for its Students on 14.07.2020. A total number of 60 students participated in the event.  The inaugural session started at 10.30am. Mr. Rajavardhan, Head i/c gave a speech about the department of visual communication. Dr. S. Arul Chelvan, Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on the topic. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address. Mr. Sivarajan proposed the vote of thanks and the function concluded with the National Anthem.

Dr. S. Arul Chelvan in his lecture on MEDIA FOR DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION, covered all the important points in the field of media. He explained, the role of communication, its importance and the important role Mass media plays in this. Mass media can instruct people and educate them. Projects like Educational Television and Gyan Darshan are a few such examples where media is used to instruct people and teach them basic skills. These basic skills also help the people to develop their standard of living. The session was appreciated by the students.

A Cool Eve with Director “Mr. S.D. Vijay Milton” through Webinar

The Department of Visual Communication conducted a webinar, A Cool Eve with Director – Mr. S.D. Vijay Milton for its students on 10.07.2020. The inaugural session started at 04.00 pm.Mr. C. Rajavardhan, Instructor gave a brief introduction about the college and the department.Mr. S.D. Vijay Milton, Producer, Director and Cinematographer of various blockbuster movies such as VazhakkuEnn 18/9, Goli soda, (won the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Film), 10 Endrathukklla (starring Actor Vikram) and as a Cinematographer for many Indian films, was the guest of honor. Mr. Sivarajan, Assistant Professor delivered the key note address.

The guest spoke about the film industry in the contemporary scenario and the various forms in it. He shared his 23 years experience in the cinema with a brief about each of his films. He urged the students to work dedicatedly for their passion in cinema to reach desirable heights. The session went on well with almost 59 students actively participated in the programme. The students asked their queries relating to film making and the career opportunities available. He responded to all the students queries and clarified their doubts. The students enjoyed the session very much and thanked the management for providing such a wonderful opportunity and an insight into the myths in the cinema industry.   Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks.
