PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The members of Photography Club conducted the “Mobile Photography” competition on 14.03.2022 through online, The theme of the competition was “Open theme”.The students from I and  II year of various departments participated in the event. The club coordinator  Mr. .A.Karthikeyan , posted the rules and regulations of the event in google form . Totally 53 students participated in the event. This event helped the students to bring out their creative ideas and talents. Finally three students got shortlisted for the three prizes ,which was announced by the judges. It was really a creative session which exhibited the artistic skills of the students. Totally 10 students got benefited through this programme

Workshop on “OTT & Film Making Techniques”

Medius Coronet, an Association of Visual Communication department, conducted a workshop, “OTT & Film Making Techniques” for its students on 09.03.2022 and 10.03.2022. Totally 25 students (I B.Sc-10, II B.Sc-12, II M.Sc-3) participated in this event. The inaugural session was started at 09:00 am. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, HoD i/c & Assistant Professor delivered the welcome address and chief guest introduction. Mr. J. Sabarish, Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on various topics such as the film language and the process of film making.

Mr. J. Sabarish shared his experience as a film maker and he also shared the process of film making for OTT platforms. The session was very beneficial to the students. They enthusiastically participated in this event and asked technical oriented questions, which were answered by the guest. Ms. G J Anushka of I B.Sc Visual Communication proposed the vote of thanks. The program was a grand success.

CELEBRATION OF WORLD RADIO DAY

The Department of Animation & Visual communication jointly celebrated the “World Radio Day 2022” on 14.02.2022 (Monday) between 11.00 AM and 01.30 PM. Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Department of Animation welcomed the gathering. Mr.BabuShajan Kevin, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Department of Viscom introduced the chief guest, Mr. John Raja Durai, Associate programming director, Music Broadcast Private Limited (Radiocity 91.1FM). He addressed the students that the World Radio Day is observed to recognize the contribution of the mass communication medium in providing news and entertainment across all strata of society. He advised the students to discuss the current affairs, general knowledge and narrate stories through Podcast. He inspired and motivated the students by sharing the tactics and nuances required to become a Radio Jockey. He stressed on delivering the content in one’s own style with creativity which is one of the most important factors needed for attracting audience though it might be in a grumpy, squeaky, soft or loud voice. He reinforced the idea that the nature of the voice is never an issue. He mentioned that at times, a person well prepared to deliver the content might be rejected and the one who talks with originality and confidence is selected.The students eagerly participated in the activity. Besides they got clarified their doubts with the resource person regarding taking up RJ as a profession. The event helped the students in understanding the medium of radio better. Totally 66 Students from both the departments participated in this event.

Seminar on “The Disposition and Development of Tamil Cinema”

Medius Coronet, an Association of Visual Communication department conducted a seminar, “The Disposition and Development of Tamil Cinema” for its students on 11.02.2022. Totally 25 students (I B.Sc-10, II B.Sc-12, II M.Sc-3) participated in this event. The inaugural session was started by 09:00 am. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, HoD i/c & Assistant Professor delivered the welcome address and chief guest introduction. Mr. N. Subramanian, Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on various topics such as the film language, film culture and the evolution of Tamil cinema.

Mr. N. Subramanian gave an illuminating lecture on the changing landscape of tamil cinema in the digital era. The session was very beneficial to the students. They enthusiastically participated in this event and asked technical oriented questions, which were answered by the guest. Ms. G J Anushka of I B.Sc Visual Communication proposed the vote of thanks. The program was a grand success.

WORKSHOP ON “FILM MAKING”

The Department of Visual Communication and the Department of Animation jointly organized a “Workshop on Film Making” for its students on 11.12.2021.Totally 97 students    (I B.Sc Viscom – 11, II B.Sc Viscom – 14, III B.Sc Viscom – 10, M.Sc Viscom – 01, II M.Sc Viscom – 03, I B.Sc Animation – 30, II B.Sc Animation – 28) participated in the workshop. The expert, Mr. Kasthuri Raja, Indian Film Director, went all out of his way in covering all important aspects of Film making, with the sole purpose of enabling students in taking up film oriented jobs. He elaborated on various topics such as screen face, acting skills, and so on. The students got due exposure on the topics discussed in the workshop.

Mr. Kasthuri Raja also shared his experience as a film director in directing various movies and reiterated that he had complete focus on his career. The webinar was welcomed by the students of both the departments. The students requested to conduct a number of similar events in the future days.

Media Support-Rasika Ranjana Sabha

The students of Visual Communication and the staff members of attended the Drama ‘Paandavi’conducted by Rasika Ranjana Sabha on 17-09-2021 at Tamil Isai Sangam, Madurai. The students captured full video coverage, edited the video and delivered it to them . They were fascinated by the quality of the video coverage and editing. Rasika Ranjana Sabha appreciated Department of Visual Communication for their contribution.
