Music Production workshop

Department of Visual Communication organized a two day Music production Workshop on 24/07/2019 and 25/07/2019 for B.Sc 3rd Year students.

The workshop was conducted by Mr.Vaangal Manikandan, a renowned Music composer. He gave lecture on the basics of music production, composing and mixing. The students learned devotedly.  A song was composed by the guest and students for music production project.

Short Film Making

On 26.02.2019, II nd year B.Sc. VISCOM Students have shot their short film – Film Making Project. As per their story, they have erected a simple “Emaloga set in the video studio. Our Principal Dr.P.Saravanan and Mr.M.Adhi Gopal, Head Networking Department inaugurated the shoot with Pooja.

Dance Unplugged

The students of Visual Communication department are filming the event “Dance Unplugged” multilingual Concert. This event was organized by the Meenakshi Mission Hospital and research centre Madurai for the treatment of children with cancer on 23 February 2019. As a media partner Visual communication department of subbalakshmi Lakshmipathi College of Science offered the video and photo shoot for the event.

Our department  has given Media Support to this  Multilingual Concert event. Visual Communication students have shot the video and photos of the entire event worth rupees one lakh. Dr.M.Raghukalidasan,HOD Viscom has received media partner award on behalf of  Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy college of science from the organizers as an appreciation for our contribution to the event coverage.

Guest Lecture on TV Production

Our Alumnus Mr.M.Vekatraman(2015-17)    M.Sc Viscom who works for  Sun TV gave a  Lecture  on television Production and reality shows  on 21/2/19  for first year  B.Sc Viscom Students.  He elaborated various practical difficulties involved in Television Production.

Board of Studies

 On 20/2/19 the Department of Visual Communication conducted BoS meetings for the Academic year 2018-19. University nominee Dr.Ilamparithi CFEMS- MKU and subject expert Dr.Shylaja Head-Visual Communication, American College participated in the meeting along with visual communication staff members of SLCS. The examination mode for Environmental studies (IInd Semester) has been changed from conventional method to online mode.

Students’ Project

The 2nd year M.sc Visual communication students finished their Television production shooting on 25 Jan 2019. They have done a game show called ‘Game Over’.  Six students from the college participated as three different team. The show had three rounds. Different students had taken the in charge of   different responsibilities of television productions like writer, program producer, Lighting director, operative cameraman, online editor, sound engineer and floor manager. Winners have rewarded with the cash prize.

National Level Seminar on Innovative Concepts In Media

Department of Visual communication on Sunday – 20 Jan 2019 organized a National seminar on “Innovative Concepts in Media”. Research scholars, students and academicians from various Institutions and media professionals participated in the seminar.  News 18 Tamilnadu Chief editor – Mr.G.Gunasekaran – the first media person from Tamilnadu to receive the “ RAMNATH GOENKA” award and Dr.D.Niveditha – professor – “Dept of EMMC from Pondicerry university” were the chief guests of the event.

Inaugural address stared with the prayer song, Ms.S.Poornima Bharathi of 1 year Viscom gave the welcome speech, Dr.M.Raghu kalidhasan,HOD,Dept of VISCOM introduced the chief guests and briefed about the seminar, principal Dr.P.Saravanan gave the presidential gave the presidential address with the message about neutrality in media and the importance of the seminar, Inaugural address was delivered by Mr.M.Gunasekaran, he elaborated the evolution of tamil news media, the importance of reading habit and also shared his experience about print and TV  media, the keynote address was given by  Dr.D.Niveditha, she has explained the various arts involved in film making.

More than thirty participants from across the country presented their research papers at three different venues in the college campus. Followed by the presentation, certificates were issued to the participants. Mr.K.Karthikeya of II year Viscom student delivered the vote of thanks. The seminar came to an end the National Anthem.

workshop on Screenplay writing and Direction

The session was inaugurated by our Vice Principal Dr K Archunan, welcome speech was given by our HOD Dr .M. Raghukalidhasan and Mr M Sivakumar Head- Dept of direction, L V Prasad film academy- Chennai handled the interactive session with our students. He has screened few short films and documentaries to our students to explain the nuances and different aspect of screenplay writing. In the second day, he made students to write script for one scene, he also explained about the screen time of an one page script. This workshop threw some light on screen play writing techniques to our students.
