Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Motivational Talk on Directions for Getting a Start- Up Loan”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through Motivational Talk on Directions for Getting a Start-up Loan on 21.07.2022 at Thirumangalam. Totally, 13 students of III Year FSPM briefly emphasized the importance, scope, types of start-up and also counseled the entrepreneurs on the value of numerous schemes, loans funding support and incentives. Finally, entrepreneurs were motivated to start-up in food and health care products. Totally 15 members got benefited through this outreach program.

Extension Activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) through “Awareness Program on Food Safety”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Extension activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) through “Awareness Program on Food Safety” at SLCS’s Community Radio- Shyamalavani on 07.06.2022.  In Commemoration with “World Food Safety Day”, 13 students of II Year FSPM emphasized the safe and nutritious food ensuring the health and wellbeing of every human being. This program is beneficial to those who pay their attention towards mobilization of action to prevent, detect and manage food-borne risks and to improve their health. The public got benefited through this extension activity.

Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Nutri guidance for cooking the nutraceuticals food”

FAGAS, an Association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through Nutri guidance for cooking the nutraceuticals food” on 03.06.2022 at Kappalur. Thirteen students of II Year FSPM gave a briefly explained to housewives about the cutting and cooking practices to minimise the wastage of food and enhance the nutrients in the cooked food. Finally the students counselled the house wives that preliminary cooking practises not only enhance the nutritive value of the food but also the minimise the harmful effects during cooking.

  

Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Hygiene and Balanced diet in Anganwadi centre ”

FAGAS an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Hygiene and Balanced diet in Anganwadi centre ” on 02.06.2022 at Oometchikulam.  Thirteen students of II Year FSPM conducted a playful activity on the basis of common health and hygienic practices among the children in the age group of 3-5 years. Finally the students trained the children  to draw  the common health and hygiene practices.

Extension Activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on “Art from Waste”

FAGAS, an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) through art from waste for 6-16 Years old  children at Madurai Seva Sangam, on 14.05.2022.  Twenty five students of I and II Year FSPM actively participated and one of our first year student train the children regarding pencil art and gift article from dried leaves. Finally our students organize an cultural program to entertain for those children in orphanage and they shared their happiness with utmost satisfaction.

Administrative training program on “Dietary Approaches to Manage Stress”

FAGAS, an Association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management, organized an Administrative training program on “Dietary Approaches to Manage Stress” on 13.05.2022 at the Seminar Hall. Eleven members of Non Teaching Staff eagerly participated in this program. Dr.S.Geethanjali was the trainer for this administrative training program. She trained the non teaching staff on the theoretical aspects as well as the practical knowledge in the field of food innovations. This program mainly focused on how to manage the stress using diet The  staff members actively participated in this training session with utmost satisfaction.

Workshop on “Application in Food Industry for Innovation”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Workshop on  “Application in Food Industry for Innovation ”  13.05.2022 at Seminar Hall. Totally 25 students(Thirteen I year students and 12 II year) students from FS &PM eagerly participated in this program.. Dr.S.Geethanjali was the trainer for this workshop and focus to enhance the theoretical knowledge in the field innovation in food industry. The trainer spoke about the various applications and it’s in our daily life like smart farming, smart office management as well as smart home management in current trends .At the end of the session the students gathered an appreciable level of knowledge about the different techniques career opportunities in food   industries with utmost satisfaction.

Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj seva) on “Importance of value added products

FAGAS, an Association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj seva) at Kavanur entitled Importance of value added products” to the farmers on 28.04.2022.  Thirteen students of I Year FSPM educated the farmers by interacting with them on the use and benefits of value added products.  They insisted on exploring the current farming practices followed by the farmers involved in paddy seed production, their reason for the adoption of seed production and the constraints faced by them. Totally 13 students of FSPM  participated in this outreach program.

Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Health and hygienic practises among the Street vendors”

FAGAS, an Association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Health and hygiene practices among the Street vendorson 24.04.2022 at Thirumangalam. Thirteen students of I Year FSPM gave a brief explanation about the health and hygienic practices including environmental causes around the stall, personal hygiene, and food storage facilities at the stall, utensil maintenance, and licensing among the street vendors. Finally the students counselled the street vendor’s that street food not only provides convenience for many people but also the livelihood for millions of low income people, making a great contribution to the economy of many developing countries.

Value Added Course on “Basic Medical Coding ”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management have organized a Value added course on “Basic Medical Coding ” from 12.04.2022 to 21.04.2022 through this link http://meet.google.com/mav-hnze-fbp  . 14 (III year) students and 13 (II year) students from FS &PM totally 27 students eagerly participated in this program.. This course was presented to the students which included theoretical and hands- on training program with coding aspects. Head trainer Mrs.A.Regina Elizhabeth, was the trainer for this value addition Program and began the activity with an elaborate explanation of anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, and payer rules and policies.  At the end of the day students gathered an appreciable level of and theoretical and practical knowledge about the medical coding with utmost satisfaction.
