CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL BIRD DAY

The Department of Animation & D. P. Roy Choudhury Association jointly celebrated the “National Bird Day 2022” on 05.01.2022 (Wednesday) between 02.00pm and 03.30 pm. Ms. Madhubala and Ms.Thrisheetha from II year Animation created an Awareness Poster on “Save Birds” and they distributed it to every department of the college. They created awareness among the faculty members about the importance of protecting the interest of birds and the key role played by the birds in protecting the environment.  They also stated that about 12 per cent of world’s 9,800 bird species may face extinction within the next century. They requested the members they met to keep away a small amount of water in their home which may be a reason for the Life of a single bird. The Faculty members congratulated the students and also encouraged them to take more initiatives in the future.

Birthday Celebration of Savitribai Phule

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized Birthday Celebration of Savitribai Phule on 03.01.2022 at Academic Lab-I between 02.30 pm and 03.15 pm. The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms.Madhubala from II Year Animation. Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor of the department shared the importance of the event and he stated that she was the first female teacher and ardent champion of ending caste discrimination and illiteracy. She played an important role in improving women’s rights in India. Her sacrifices and struggles as a social reformer will be remembered for a long time. The Chief Guest for this function was Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal, SLCS. She made the students realize the importance of education, especially girl children, by giving examples of her own experiences. She inspired many students to take the challenges of life and how one can be successful in uplifting the downtrodden and the marginalized. The event was followed by Screening of the biography film of Savitribai Phule. Ms. Harini from I year Animation proposed the vote of thanks.

Totally 52 students participated in this programme from I & II year Animation.

Life – Skills Meditation Programme

Mr. S. Praveen kumar, Instructor, Department of Animation conducted a “Life – Skills Meditation Programme” for the B.Sc., Animation I, II Year and P.G. Diploma in Animation techniques Students on 15.12.2021, Wednesday between 09:00 AM and 12:30 PM at Drawing Studio. He coordinated the students to experience the benefits of meditation and to calm the mind. The main objective of the programme is to induce the ability of creativity. The students took part very actively in the programme and all the students gave positive feedback. Totally 60 students participated in the workshop.

Campus Recruitment Drive 2021 – Pixstone Images Pvt. Ltd.

Department of Animation organized a Campus Recruitment Drive 2021 on 15.12.2021, Wednesday at Animation Academic Lab for the final year students.“Pixstone Images Pvt. Ltd.” from Chennai conducted the Technical Test and Interview for the students. Totally 12 students from the III Year attended the interview. The Technical test was conducted by Mr.Jawahar, Manager. The HR interview was conducted by Mr.Joseph, HR-Head.

BOARD OF STUDIES MEETING – 2021

The Department of Animation conducted its Board of Studies Meeting for the newly introduced programme PG Diplomain Animation Techniques on 09th Dec 2021 (Thursday) at 04.00 P.M. through the Google Meet at Animation Academic Lab. Mr.P.KishoreKumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof. and Chairman of the BoS welcomed the gathering and explained the skeleton of the entire programme and introduced new courses for the upcoming academic year (2021-2022, Odd Semester). Dr.Thangaraj, Professor, Department of Computer Science, School of Information Technology, Madurai Kamaraj University, was the University Nominee. Dr.Elango, Professor & Head, Department of Electronic Media (PG), St Thomas College of Arts and Science, Koyambedu, Chennai took part in the BoS meeting as the Subject Expert. Ms.Saranya, Graphic Designer, Royal sign and awnings Studio United states, was invited as theIndustry Expert. Mr.Mahesh, PG Diploma student attended as the student representative.

All the members gave their valuable suggestions and recommendations about the syllabi. Faculty members Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Mr.S.Saravanan, Mr.S.Praveen Kumar, Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar, Mr.M.Shanmuga sundaram and Mr.A.R.R.Arul Prince attended the meeting.

 

Workshop on Personal Interview and Resume Building

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a Webinar on “Personal Interview and Resume Building” on 08.12.2021 between 11.30 A.M. and 12.30 P.M. for the I, II & III Year Animation Students. Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering.

The Resource person for this webinar was Mrs. Udhaya Shri, HR – Business Partner, BYJUS Chennai. This webinar was organized with an intention to empower students to perform better in their job interviews.

She covered various important aspects to be known by a fresher attending a job interview. She emphasized on the need to identify one’s own personal strength and weakness. She advised the students on how to present oneself during an interview and gave an insight into how to face challenging tasks during the process. She also stressed on the importance of every day preparations that is required by the students towards both conceptual knowledge and technical knowledge. On the whole the Programme ended fruitfully. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. S. Saravanan, Assistant Professor. Totally 88 students were benefitted through this programme.

Parents Teacher Meeting

The Department of Animation conducted the Parents Teacher Meeting for the II & III Year Animation students on 10.11.2021 (Wednesday) between 03.00pm and 04.00pm.  Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering with welcome address. The main objective of the meeting was to create a common platform, where teachers and parents come together to discuss student’s performance and devise ways to enrich their learning experience. The Parents were informed about the Academic Performance of the Students (Course wise) in the Continuous Internal Assessment – II (2021-22 odd semester). They also informed regarding the Attendance and the Status of the Assignment submissions of individual student.  Parents were encouraged to appreciate student’s participation in all academic activities. The PTM came to an end with the conclusion that the progress and development of the students depend on the joint efforts of parents and teachers. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. S. Praveen Kumar, Instructor of the Department. The Feedback was collected through Google Form.

International Animation Day 2021

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a one-day Session on “Thol Pavai koothu” for the I, II & III Year Students of Animation Department on 28.10.2021, Thursday at the Auditorium. The Program commenced with a welcome address by Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, HOD i/c cum Asst. Prof., Department of Animation.

Kalaimamani Mr.A.Muthulakshmana Rao & his team performed a program on shadow puppet and shared their experiences. The Guest, Principal, Dean and HoD awarded the shield & certificate for the best students under different categories. The students actively participated; all the students gave positive feedback. Totally 100 students participated in the program.

Animation Training Workshop

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a One day “Animation Workshop” on 23.10.2021, Saturday at Auditorium for the I & II Year students of Animation and Visual communication Department. The Workshop commenced with a welcome address by Mr.S.Praveen Kumar,  Asst. Prof., Department of Animation.

The programme started with lighting the kuthuvilakku. The Resource persons of the workshop were Mr.Saravana Kumar Pazhani–VFX Head, “Kreatuz Grafix”, Chennai, Mr.Rajesh – Chief Sub Editor, “The Hindu”, Madurai and Mr.BalaSeyameshwaran, proprietor of Seyamesh Solution (our alumni).Mr.Rajesh – Chief Sub Editor, “The Hindu”, Madurai addressed the students on the work flow of Digital painting and gave a demo session. Mr.Saravana Kumar Pazhani–VFX Head, “KreatuzGrafix”, Chennai gave a technical session on VFX production. Mr.BalaSeyameshwaran, proprietor of Seyamesh Solution addressed the students on recent trends and industry workflow.

Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal gave the Presidential address of the programme. Dr.S.Priya, Dean Academics and Dr.K.Archunan, Vice principal gave the felicitation address. Mr.P.Kishorekumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Department of Animation briefed about the programme. Mr.BabuShajan Kevin, Head i/c cum Asst. prof. Department of Visual communication introduced the guests and Mr.R.R.Arul Prince Raj, Asst. Prof., Department of Visual communication delivered the Welcome address. The Workshop was compered by C.Hemalatha III Year student and S.Madhubala II Year student from Department of Animation. The students took part very actively in the workshop and all the students gave a positive feedback. Totally 120 students participated in the workshop.

Workshop on Visual Effects

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a one day workshop on “Visual Effects” for the II & III Year Students of Animation & Viscom on 22.10.2021, Friday in the Auditorium. The Workshop commenced with a welcome address by Mr.S.Praveen Kumar, Asst. Prof., Department of Animation. The trainer of the workshop was Mr.Saravana Kumar Pazhani–VFX Head, Kreatuz Grafix, Chennai coordinated the students, He showed the students on how to utilize the Chroma key studio and took a technical class by doing cloning and crowd creation using Roto for the students in the Auditorium. The Workshop was compered by C.Hemalatha III Year and S.Madhubala II Year student from Department of Animation. The workshop provided the students with the Basics of Visual Effects techniques, industry workflow and opportunities during the session. The Students took part very actively in the workshop. They felt workshops like this will give them the right foundation and insight into future ventures and all the students gave a positive feedback. Totally 150 students participated in the workshop.
