The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department conducted an Extension Activity at Eliyarpathi on 07.04.2022, Thursday, between 09:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. Totally 30 students from I& II Year B.Sc., Animation and 2 Faculty members participated in this event.The students were informed about how trees and plants are linked to our basic needs for good food to eat and clean air to breathe. The following points were shared to the students
- Trees give us clean water to drink, air to breathe, shade and food to human beings, animals and plants.
- Tree provide habitats for numerous species of fauna and flora, firewood for cooking, materials for buildings and places of spiritual, cultural and recreational importance.
Each student was given with one sapling and asked to plant it. The students enjoyed and eagerly participated. Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar, Asst. Prof., and Mr.S.Saravanan, Asst. Prof., accommpanied the students. Totally 30 different varieties of saplings were planted by the students.
The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Departmentconducted an outreach programme “Feed the kids” on 06.04.2022, Wednesday at vision school (schools for differently abled students) at Perungudi, Madurai. The students of I & II Year B.Sc., Animation and PG Diploma in Animation Techniques students came forward to provide the lunch for 30 students studying in the school. Mr. N. Naveendra Kumar and Mr. S. Praveen kumar Asst. Professors of the department accompanied the students.Students were provided with nutritious food.
Students of I & II Year B.Sc., Animation and PG Diploma in Animation Techniques along with the students from vision school (schools for differently abled students) at Perungudi, Madurai Organized a rally on “World Autism Awareness Day”, as an outreach programme on 06.04.2022, Wednesday between 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. The main purpose of this rally is to educate the people about Autism as “Always Unique Totally Interesting Sometimes Mysterious”. Totally 20 students participated in this event and 2 Faculty members accompanied them.
The Department of Animation organized a Career Guidance Programme on “Importance of Rotoscopy in the Feature Films” through Alumni Interaction on 01.04.2022, Friday between 03.00PM and 04.00PM. The Programme was started by Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Assistant Professor of the department. The Resource person for the event wasMr. Prem Kumar, Roto Artist, BOT VFX, Chennai. He is a well-known alumnus from the 2014–2017batch and he is very much eager to talk to the students about the“Importance of Rotoscopy in the Feature Films”. He inspired the students by discussing the various software’s and plugins which is used in the Rotoscopy sector. Through the discussion forum, he encouraged students by expressing his insights. The Session ended fruitfully. Totally 28 students (II year) were benefitted from this programme.
Our department faculty Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Participated in the BRIDGE 2022, an event organized by ICT Academy of Tamilnadu, on 28th March, 2022 at Nagercoil, on the theme “A high impact industry institute interaction”. Thiru T. Mano Thangaraj,Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu, was the chief guest. The event focused on Bridging Skill Gapfor Better Employment, Identifying New Generation Workforce, and Industrial Partnership for Talent Development, Future-Ready Skills Roadmap, and Recruitment Trends.
The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a field trip on 21.03.2022, Monday for II year B.Sc., Animation students and PG Diploma in Animation Techniques.The studentswere taken to the Azhagarkovil. The studens enjoyed the trip. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof., Mr.N.Naveendrakumar., Asst. Prof., and 29 students participated in this field visit.The students were taught Photography and drawing by the staff members, They developed skills in drawing and live portrait sketches. It was a one day tour to enhance the student’s skill in drawing & photography. The education tour started at 9.00 AM and was over by 01.00 PM.
The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department conducted an outreach programme “Clean the Society” at AzhagarKovilareaon 21.03.2022, Monday, between 01:30 P.M. and 04:30 P.M. Totally 29 students and 3 faculty members participated in this event. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., insisted the students about the natural resources conservation and Protection. Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar, Asst. Prof., shared with the students about the impact of Plastic cover usage and its disposing methods. Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof., addressed the students about waste Management system. The students collected all the waste materials and dropped at the dustbin.
Art & Media Club, the students of SLCS had an opportunity to participate in the “Art from Waste Competition” in the Animation Classroom – Iheld on 11.03.2022 from 02.00 pm to 03.30 pm.
“BEST OUT OF WASTE” is one such craft which follows this environmental friendly principle and at the same time creates useful and attractive objects out of waste products. Young hands and imaginative minds came together in a creative burst of energy. Mind-blowing, beyond expectation, fantabulous ideas were demonstrated by students. They prepared very creative and innovative models and art items from different waste materials. They used reusable and recyclable materials like newspapers, shoe boxes, bangles, ice cream stick’s and much more. From these items, they created an amazing array of display items and useful everyday objects leaving everyone totally impressed. The values like preservation, recycling, conservation, reduce, reuse etc. are imbibed on the young heart and minds by demonstrating this noble act of caring our environment.
Totally 20 Students from various departments participated in the competition.
Art & Media Club, the students of SLCS had an opportunity to participate in the “DrawingCompetition” in the Drawing Hallheld on 10.03.2022 at 11.00AM to 12.30PM. The students made beautiful sketches on paper.
The theme of the competition was“The World after Covid-19”. The main objective of this competition is tolearn and engage in skillful learning through the medium of Art. All the Students participated with great enthusiasm, zest and exhibited their creativity.The competition provided a platform for theircreative expression. The Winners of the competition will be honored in the Annual Day 2022.
Totally 46 students took part in this program.
The Department of Animation conducted an Workshop on “Paper anatomy models making” on 10.02.2022 and 17.02.2022 (Thursday and Thursday) In Drawing Hall. Mr. S. Praveen Kumar, Instructor, Dept. of Animation handled the “Miniature Sculpting” Workshop for the students. He thought a new and creative way to make 3D models with simple papers and tape, which leads them to make different fascinating characters .They, also learned how to make their own character with physic and balance. This led them to understand the balance of an object in real life and how to keep the same balance in models while making it in 3D software’s. The Students enjoyed the activity and ended productively.
Totally 23 students on 10.02.2022 and 13 students on 17.02.2022 were participated in this programme.
