Workshop on “Effective Tips & Tricks in the VFX Industry”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a “Workshop on Effective Tips & Tricks in the VFX Industry”on 03.09.2022 in Animation Academic Lab– I of our college premises.

The programme started with the prayer song and the welcome address was given by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation.
Mr. Mathan, VFX Team Lead, B2H Studio, Chennai,was invited as the chief guestof the day.The demand for skilled VFX Artists is constantly on the raise.

This workshop gave an advanced training on the latest VFX software and plug-ins in which the students can develop their skills required for the topmost recruiters. The session facilitatedthe students with themeaningful tips & tricksthat honethe VFX skills further. He stressed on the idea, “Junior Artists are like sponges. Your higher-ups are not expecting you to know everything. In fact, companies are most likely hiring you based on your simple skills being done exceptionally well. Remember that technical skills are significant but not everything – your social skills will really enable you to set off in this industry.  Above all, remembering to really get a firm grasp on yourself prior entering these industries will help you immensely!”

The Programme ended fruitfully and totally 28 students were benefitted through this program.

Professional Training Programme on “Training of Teachers for the Visual Effects Industry”

Department of Animation organized a Professional Training Programme on“Training of Teachers for the Visual Effects Industry”on 03.09.2022 atChroma Studio of Animation Department, SLCS.

The programme started with the prayer song and the welcome address was proposed by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation.
Mr. Mathan, VFX Team Lead, B2H Studio, Chennai,was the chair personof the event. He stated that the VFX industry has been growing by leaps and bounds over the years, with technology playing a major role in its growth. The VFX industry have been growing rapidly due to a sustained demand ensuring a promising future for those who are specialized in them. He insisted that the academicians should always help the artists and technologists in the industryto reach their full potential by empowering them with the tools and workflows needed to adapt to the global pipeline. He also discussed some advanced plug-ins which is an essential part to be known by the students when they are appearing for the recruitment process.

The Programme ended fruitfully and totally 5faculty membersbenefitted through this program.

Career Guidance Program on “Opportunities in VFX Industry & Recruitment Process”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Program on “Opportunities in VFX Industry & Recruitment Process” on 03.09.2022at 11.00 a.m. in the Seminar Hallof our college premises.

The program started with the prayer song and the welcome address was delivered by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation.
Ms. Bhanu, Project Coordinator cum HR, B2H Studio, Chennai, was the chief guest of the day. She addressed the students that India’s Visual Effects domain or VFX & Animation industry, has been in high demand in recent years. It has ushered to a new era of success in the field of Media and Entertainment (M&E). A career in VFX is today a rewarding and creatively satisfying option for young minds. However, the projected growth of the industry has a lot of aspiring VFX artists excited.
Students got insights of the various roles on-offer in the VFX industry of India. She concluded her speech stating that the VFX industry in India is thriving and the VFX career path promises a whole bunch of career options.

The Program ended fruitfully and totally 92 students were benefitted through this program.

Career Guidance Program cum Alumni Interaction on “Entrepreneurship opportunities in VFX Industry”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) – SLCS organized a Career Guidance program cum Alumni Interaction on “Entrepreneurship opportunities in VFX Industry” on 22.08.2022 at 11.00 a.m.

Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering. Mr.Dhanabal (2011-14 batch), 3D AR/VR Lead, Techmahindra, Bangalore, acted as the chief guest of the event.

He remarked that the VFX industry is a fast emerging and an indispensable part of film making, and the cutting edge work carried out by Indian studios has catapulted the country to the global VFX scene. In the developed countries, the governments are offering grants, labor tax credits, and subsidies to domestic companies engaged in VFX work to help them retain artists as well as their expansion efforts. Eventhough VFX industry is not popular internationally; it is definitely gaining popularity in India. He concluded enlightening with completely rewarding opportunities for young minds in the VFX Sector. There are hundreds of tools and technologies for creating visual effects, but your business success is determined more by your artistry than by your technological abilities.

The program received a positive feedback from the students.
Totally,79 students were through this event.

Career Guidance Program on ”Importance of Art in Animation and the Opportunities behind”

D.P. Roy ChoudhuryAssociation, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Program on “Importance of Art in Animation and the Opportunities behind” on 18.08.2022 at 11.00 a.m. in theAnimation Academic Lab.

Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering.  Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Lecturer cum Eminent Artist, Govt. college of Fine Arts, Chennai, was the chief guest of the event.

He owned the stage and enthralled the enthusiastic audience with his illustrations.He said that,‘Art is an appearance of illustration where the focal purpose is to express a visual demonstration of a design, thought, or mood for applying in video games, films, animation, or comic books before it is put into the ultimate creation. The upcoming junior artists like you need to have understanding of brainstorming, concept mapping, and aesthetic issue in all kind of Art domain’.

The animation industry as it has developed a strong hold over TV content, movies, gaming and advertising. As the entertainment, education (e-learning) and gaming industry is increasingly becoming dependent on special effects, a career in animation offers concrete and lucrative prospects globally.

The program concluded with a positive feedback from the students.
Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this event.

Field Visit to Print-n-Pack Expo

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Field Visit to“Print-n-Pack Expo- 2022” on 13.08.2022 atIda Scudder Auditorium, Velammal Hospital Campus, Madurai.

Print-n-Pack Expo – 2022 is an annual printing and packaging expo organized by Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA). In this fair, 130 stalls were displayed. Machinerymanufacturers, inks, chemicals and services of printing and packaging field, from all over India participated in the fair. To add more significance, Seminars and Workshops on various hot topics were conducted.

The main objective of this field visit is to gain access to the latest trends and technology in Printing Sectors and also to imbibe knowledge from the experts’ talk on emerging pressure-sensitive labels, requirements, basics of colour in printing, maintenance of machines, etc. The Students interacted with the dealers in the stalls and clarified their doubts.

Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this visit.

Know the Unknowns of Mathematics”

D.P.Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Workshop on “Know the Unknowns of Mathematics” on 12.08.2022 at 09.00 a.m. in the Animation Academic Lab-I of our college premises.

Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Siva Subramanian, Head & Asst. Prof, Dept. of Mathematics, SLCS,acted as the resource person.

He started the workshop with a series of basic mathematical functions such as, Basic arithmetic’s, geometry etc.The Animation characters’ movements functionswith translation, rotation and scaling in the animation studios, which needs calculation in every aspect. In regard to the area of Graphic Design, the mathematics plays a vital role in the creation of designing materials like banners, posters, advertisements, packaging etc.

The workshop concluded efficiently and receivedpositive feedback from the students. Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this event.

Workshop on Innovative Practices in Clay Modeling

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, in association with Institution Innovation Council – SLCS organized Two Days Workshop on “Innovative Practices in Clay Modeling” on 27 & 28 July, 2022 at our college premises.

The Program started with the prayer song and Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the presidential address and the felicitation address was given by Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics.

Mr.Radhakrishnan, Freelance Sculptor, Govt. College of Fine Arts, Kumbakonam, acted as the chair Person. He was very  much skilled in Sculpting with the variety of materials like Clay, Wax, Plaster of Paris, etc. The objective of this workshop is to enable the students to learn the art of Sculpting, as a part of our culture. He briefed on the nuances, tips & techniques in Clay Sculpting. At the end of the workshop, the students were able to understand the concepts of Traditional Sculpting.  Students learned to enhance the techniques in real-time sculpting than in 3D Sculpting. Totally, 53 Students were benefitted through this program.

OUTREACH PROGRAMME ON “ART THERAPY” AT ADAIKALAM OLD AGE HOME, THIRUNAGAR

D. P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized an outreach programme on “Art Therapy” at Adaikalam Old Age Home, Thirunagar, on 22.07.2022 at 02.00 p.m. Mr. Vishwa, Founder of the Old Age Home, welcomed the gathering. The Students from II & III years actively performed and showed their talents like, Singing, Dancing, Playing Music Instruments, etc. The senior citizens were admired by the students’ talent. The dejected parents over there were happy to say that the students’ talent made them forget their pain. The students learnt how to take care of their parents as well as to help the needy as a way of life. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. prof., Dept of Animation. Mr. N. Naveendra Kumar, Instructor, Dept of Animation, made all the arrangements.

Totally, 10 students & 50 old age people got benefitted through this program.

Bootcamp on UNREAL ENGINE

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Departmentorganized three days hands-on training session titled “Boot Camp on UNREAL ENGINE” from 19.05.2022 to 21.05.2022 for I, II year B.Sc., Animation & Visual Comminication students and PG Diploma in Animation Techniques. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief guests – Mr. Karan Parik, Founder GREEN RAIN Studio, Mumbai and Mr. Rajesh, Technical head, Scopick Edutech Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Karan Parik, the authorized trainer of UNREAL ENGINE, interacted with the students and trained them. Mr. Rajesh, inspired the students by sharing his experience and the growth of VR & AR in Gaming Industry. The students felt the program very useful and learnt new things with UNREAL ENGINE. They also learnt and practised the software taught by the trainer and showed the output. Totally 54 students were benefited by the program.
