D.P.Roy Choudhury Association of Department of Animation organized a Career Guidance programme cum Alumni Interaction on “Modern Techniques of Compositing in Feature Films” on 29.11.2022 at 08.30 a.m. through Google Meet.

Mr. S. Saravanan, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation welcomed the gathering.
Mr. Arvind Karthikeyan (2011-14 batch), Senior Compositor, Phantom FX Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, acted as the chief guest of the event.

The main objective of this event is to gain the comprehensive understanding on how to create a CGI shot, as a whole. He addressed that compositing is a vital part of the process in creating visual effects (VFX) for movies, TV and animations. The compositor combines elements filmed during production with Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) created by other artists to blend them together seamlessly. Compositors also fix problems in the footage that occur during filming, and find methods to enhance VFX shots to match the director’s expectation. All the final outputs are assembled by compositors, who can transform a shot into something spectacular at the end.

This event helped the students to learn the tips, tricks and applications of compositing in post-production visual effects. He also addressed that “Never learn alone, as you’ll have immediate access to a forum of fellow students to share work, ask questions, and improve together.”

The programme endedsuccessfully and received a positive feedback from the students. Totally, 28 students from III year Animation were benefitted through this event.
