Extension Activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on “Importance of Healthy Diet during Pregnancy”

FAGAS an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) for pregnant women at Govt.Rajaji Hospital, Madurai on 10.02.2022.  13 students of I Year FSPM briefed the importance of dietary habits, distributed pamphlets and gave counselling on the importance and various dietary strategies to be followed during pregnancy.

AWARENESS PROGRAM ON SAFER INTERNET

The Internet club celebrated the SAFER INTERNET DAY on 10th February, 2022 and organized an awareness program on Safer Internet.  Ms.S.Madhu Varshini, II FSPM, delivered the welcome address. Students of Internet club participated in the session. Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya, Club Coordinator, addressed the gathering. In her speech, she explained the various attacks and its countermeasures to be followed while browsing the internet. Further, she elaborated on Key points that students have to undergo to build up a smarter and safer browsing experience. The session helped the students to know about hackers and their fraudulent activities. Students learnt the steps involved in ethical hacking. Totally 22 students were benefited by attending the session. Ms.S.R.Tharuni , I CS(SSS), delivered vote of thanks.This interactive session was useful to the students.

Service to Old Age Home”, Rojavanam Madurai

The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA organized an Outreach program Activity at Rojavanam Old Age Home”, Uthangudi, Madurai under “SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA” on 09.02.2022. We were extended warm greetings. We were able to provide some grains and grocery items to the inmates of old age home. We observed that there were two types of people, one who were abandoned and the others were suffering from some sort of disabilities. No matter what the cause was, what made us to think most was their age. They were longing for love and affection. The old age people were very compassionate and friendly. They were happy throughout the day with their beautiful smiles and didn’t reflect their problems even for a second. To break their monotony, our students rendered very good service. Later our Students addressed the inmates as “Thaatha/Paati”, and had a long happy conversations with them. The day turned out to be fruitful with real enjoyment. The head of the home was overwhelmed by our presence and our small contribution. They were happy to spend that day with us. Though the time spent with them was just a few hours, however, it taught us the lesson for a lifetime. 13 students of our I, II and III year ACCA visited and served them.

VALUE ADDED COURSE ON “MONEY MANAGEMENT SERVICES”

The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a VALUE ADDED COURSE ON “MONEY MANAGEMENT SERVICES” from 03.01.2022 to 07.02.2022 through online. The course was resourced by Mr. Utkarsh Upadhyay, ISDC, BangaloreA lecture was delivered on the role and importance of the finance function, basic finance management knowledge and effectively using standard business terminology. All the III Year ACCA students (15 students) participated in this course.

 

 

Seminar on “Key result areas for holistic development”

ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a seminar on “Key result areas for holistic development” on 07.02.2022. Mr.S.Makeshwar, Founder, Mak Enterprises & Trainer– Mak soft skill Academy (Alumni of BBA), was the resource person. Totally 57 students comprising I and II year BBA participated and got benefited through the program. The resource person explained in detail various skills needed for overall personality development and the competencies needed for career development.

Free Diabetes and ENT camp

ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity “Free diabetes and ENT camp” on 06.02.2022 in association with Harshini Multi Specialty Hospital, Madurai. 47 villagers from Solanguruni, Valayankulam, Eliyarpathi and Nedumadurai (neighboring villages) participated and got benefited through the camp. Lion Dr.M.G.Rajinikanth, MD of Harshini Multi Specialty Hospital presided over the camp. 4 students from I BBA and 1 student from II BBA helped towards the successful conduct of the camp under the guidance of Dr.B.Meenakshi Sundaram & Mr.B.Vairamuthu, faculty members of BBA. The villagers thanked the organizers for this noble initiative and wished that many more camps are conducted in the near future. This activity was organized as a part of the Samaaj Seva initiative promoted by our college.

Trekking and Forest Survival Training Program

Herbert William Henrich Association of Department of Fire and Industrial Safety and NSS, jointly organized the “Trekking and Forest Survival Training Program” for teaching and non-teaching faculty at Shenbaga Thoppu, Srivilliputhur on 05.02.2022. Department staffs and forest officers clearly explained forest survival techniques and benefits of trekking like, it reduces heart diseases, improves fitness, reduces weight, helps to lower the blood pressure. FIS staff members explained the rules and regulations of forest trekking and organized them as two teams and forest officers also participated in this trekking program.

 The faculty members and students gave the feedback on the trekking experience as a stress buster. Totally, 80(teaching, non-teaching faculty members and drivers) were benefited through this training program.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON COVID VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, Hebert William Henrich Association and Government Hospital, Reddiapatti,  jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “COVID VACCINATION CAMPAIGN” at Reddiapatti Village near Aruppukottai on 05/02/2022. Our Department III year student Mr.C.Rohith assisted the activity. This initiative created the awareness among the people to do vaccination and to ensure the safety. They also insisted the people to wear Mask and Maintain Social distancing to avoid the spread of the deadly disease. During this activity the student guided the people about the importance of vaccination.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of Vaccination. The Authorities and Staff members from the Government Hospital render their Cooperation & the involvement the students were commendable to reach out the maximum number of population in the society and by creating awareness. Totally 30 people got vaccinated through the COVID vaccination awareness campaign.

Work shop on “Creativity of Bar Flaring ”

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Workshop on “Creativity of Bar Flaring” for the first year students (38 students) on 4.2.2022. Mr.K.Velmurugan, alumnus of MCHM (batch 2016 to 2019),  presently working as Bar Tender Steward, Big Bang Theory Resto Bar, Chennai, demonstrated on various skills of flaring using with bottles and showed card tricks to the students’ community. The students enjoyed and acquired the knowledge on flaring, and it also provided the students a hands-on experience in a no-pressure environment. At the end of the session flaring tricks were tested by the students. The program was conducted successfully.

WEBINAR ON “A REAL TIME APPROACH OF C LANGUAGE”

Technofest, an association of Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization), organized a webinar on “A Real Time Approach of C Language” for I B.Sc CS (SSS) students. The workshop was held on 04/02/2022 from 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM. The workshop  started with the welcome address by R.Divya, I B.Sc. CS(SSS). The presidential address was delivered by Dr.R.Sujatha, Prinipal. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HoD, Department of CS (SSS) introduced the Chief Guest Dr.S.Prasanna, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.

          The Chief Guest elaborated on the importance of learning basic programming language C. He explained the various real time applications of C language for the better understanding. Also he explained the importance of C programming to get employment in software development. Finally vote of thanks was delivered by A.Deepak, I B.Sc. CS (SSS). The association members of TechnoFest, S.Sasi Regha, & S.Gokulakannan of I B.Sc. CS(SSS) compered the entire session. Totally 33 students attended the session and got benefitted.
