SLCS Samaaj Seva – “Extension Activity Observing International Literacy Day”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, conducted SLCS Samaaj Seva – “Extension Activity observing International Literacy Day” at Valayankulam village, Madurai on 08.09.2022. Totally, 50 students of I BBA participated in the extension activity guided by Mr. B. Vairamuthu AP – BBA.  The above students prepared around 25 posters on the topic “Enhancing literacy among the villagers observing International Literacy Day”. They raised slogans towards development of literacy and explained the importance of it to the villagers, which keeps them educated and happy. The villagers from Valayankulam, Madurai, were benefited by the above extension activity.

FRESHER’S DAY

FAGAS Association from Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Freshers Day Celebration for I year students on 06.09.2022 in Seminar Hall at 12.00 am. The students were warmly welcomed to begin their new Programme. The seniors conducted different games to the juniors like Do the Dare; Do the Postures, Connection etc., after they introduce themselves to their seniors. The Students enjoyed their Freshers Day. The students exhibited their hidden talents on that day. The prizes were distributed to the students by the Head and Assistant Professors and the FAGAS association members.Totally 34students of FSPM participated in this program.

Teachers Day Celebration

           Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management (HEN Association) organized a special celebration for Teacher’s Day at training Restaurant on 05.09.2022. 59 teaching and non teaching staff members took part in this celebration. Students expressed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day. Various gifts, as a token of love, were given to all faculty members and High tea was provided by the MC&HM Department. The efforts of the students were appreciated by all the teachers.

 

 

Career counseling program on “Opportunity to work in Malaysia”

           Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management (HEN Association) organized a Career counseling program on “Opportunity to work in Malaysia” for all the MCHM students (50 students) on 05.09.2022. Mr. Trevor Rowland, CEO, Derby Consultant, Malaysia, created awareness among the students about the Career Opportunity in Malaysia. He gave a detailed guidance to the students for getting selected in their campus and internship interview. The students will be selected on the basis of their communication skills, overall technical knowledge as well as their personality. The students were able to get international exposure and job opportunity to work in Malaysia.

Investors Awareness Program for Students

Department of Commerce B.Com (Banking and Insurance) conducted an enlightening program titled, “Investors Awareness Program for Students” on September 03, 2022, at 11 am. Ms. Marina Jose Kanjikal, BSE-Investor Protection Fund (BSE-IPF), was invited as a chief guest and executives from Value Ideas Investment Services engaged B.Com (Banking and Insurance) students.

The session is based on National Stock Exchange (NSE) / Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The main objective of this Program is to educate and empower the students and create financial literacy so that they can make sound decisions on their personal finances. The Program also educated the audience not to invest in the wrong Financial Schemes (Ponzi Schemes) and end up losing their valuable earnings. Stocks and investments are complicated financial areas which are mandatory for a beginner-level investor.

The webinar aims to mentor and guide the students to develop a clear understanding of finance and investment, which will help them with their studies and future professional life. Mrs. V. Padmavathy, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Commerce B.Com (B&I), coordinated the Program.

The students from I & II years B.Com. Banking and Insurance (in total 159 students) participated in the awareness program. This program inculcates a learning experience in students to plan their investment by analyzing its future prospects. The program helped a lot to educate the students about Depository, Capital Market Practices, Rights and Obligations of the Investor.

 

Workshop on “Effective Tips & Tricks in the VFX Industry”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a “Workshop on Effective Tips & Tricks in the VFX Industry”on 03.09.2022 in Animation Academic Lab– I of our college premises.

The programme started with the prayer song and the welcome address was given by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation.
Mr. Mathan, VFX Team Lead, B2H Studio, Chennai,was invited as the chief guestof the day.The demand for skilled VFX Artists is constantly on the raise.

This workshop gave an advanced training on the latest VFX software and plug-ins in which the students can develop their skills required for the topmost recruiters. The session facilitatedthe students with themeaningful tips & tricksthat honethe VFX skills further. He stressed on the idea, “Junior Artists are like sponges. Your higher-ups are not expecting you to know everything. In fact, companies are most likely hiring you based on your simple skills being done exceptionally well. Remember that technical skills are significant but not everything – your social skills will really enable you to set off in this industry.  Above all, remembering to really get a firm grasp on yourself prior entering these industries will help you immensely!”

The Programme ended fruitfully and totally 28 students were benefitted through this program.

Professional Training Programme on “Training of Teachers for the Visual Effects Industry”

Department of Animation organized a Professional Training Programme on“Training of Teachers for the Visual Effects Industry”on 03.09.2022 atChroma Studio of Animation Department, SLCS.

The programme started with the prayer song and the welcome address was proposed by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation.
Mr. Mathan, VFX Team Lead, B2H Studio, Chennai,was the chair personof the event. He stated that the VFX industry has been growing by leaps and bounds over the years, with technology playing a major role in its growth. The VFX industry have been growing rapidly due to a sustained demand ensuring a promising future for those who are specialized in them. He insisted that the academicians should always help the artists and technologists in the industryto reach their full potential by empowering them with the tools and workflows needed to adapt to the global pipeline. He also discussed some advanced plug-ins which is an essential part to be known by the students when they are appearing for the recruitment process.

The Programme ended fruitfully and totally 5faculty membersbenefitted through this program.

Career Guidance Program on “Opportunities in VFX Industry & Recruitment Process”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Program on “Opportunities in VFX Industry & Recruitment Process” on 03.09.2022at 11.00 a.m. in the Seminar Hallof our college premises.

The program started with the prayer song and the welcome address was delivered by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation.
Ms. Bhanu, Project Coordinator cum HR, B2H Studio, Chennai, was the chief guest of the day. She addressed the students that India’s Visual Effects domain or VFX & Animation industry, has been in high demand in recent years. It has ushered to a new era of success in the field of Media and Entertainment (M&E). A career in VFX is today a rewarding and creatively satisfying option for young minds. However, the projected growth of the industry has a lot of aspiring VFX artists excited.
Students got insights of the various roles on-offer in the VFX industry of India. She concluded her speech stating that the VFX industry in India is thriving and the VFX career path promises a whole bunch of career options.

The Program ended fruitfully and totally 92 students were benefitted through this program.

Seminar On Roles And Responsibilities Of Safety Officer

            Herbert William Henrich Association, Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, conducted a seminar on “Roles and Responsibilities of Safety Officer” on 02.09.2022. The students of UG and PG Diploma participated in this program. Mr. Rabiq Ali, General Manager, Bunge India Limited, Trichy, gave the guest lecture on the topic. He explained the role of Safety Officer is crucial, as it entails protecting all members of the organization from risks, infections, accidents, injuries, etc. A safety professional who investigates the mishaps, accidents, near-misses also prevents similar occurrences in the future. A safety specialist would advice employees (whether new or experienced) to follow safety protocols and use PPE while working in factories to reduce the risk of injury. Furthermore, a safety expert would advice industries on waste management, as improperly treated chemical and biological waste from industries and the hazardous effects of it to people and the environment. Totally, 39 participants (34 students from F&IS Dept and 5 Faculty members) got benefitted through the seminar.

Professional Development Program on “Nutritional Guidance for Sedentary Working Women”

            Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Professional development program on “Nutritional Guidance for Sedentary Working Women” on 02.09.2022 at 12.00. The resource person, Mrs. Suganya, Chief Dietitian, Apollo Hospital, Madurai, gave guidance on the nutritional impact during physical activities and working hours. It was designed to meet 100% hands on experience in nutrition, diet and counselling for the sedentary working women. The program was completed successfully to the greatest satisfaction of faculty members and it helps to inculcate and follow that in their regular day to day activities.  Totally, 5 faculty members were benefited through this program.
