Photography Club Farewell

During its operational tenure from 20.07.2024 to 08.02.2025, The Photography Club successfully met its core objective: to establish a dedicated, dynamic platform for visual arts. Our impact extended across three key areas:

  1. Technical Proficiency: Through tailored workshops, members achieved measurable improvements in areas like manual camera control, studio lighting techniques, and professional post-production workflows
  2. Campus Engagement: The club became the primary visual documentation unit for major institutional events, significantly enhancing the professional look of the institution’s promotional materials and archives.
  3. Community Building: We successfully fostered a collaborative creative atmosphere, resulting in mentorship opportunities between senior and junior students and the cultivation of a critical eye among participants.

PHOTOGRAPHY WALK

The department of school of animation and media studies organised “Photography Walk” a club workshop for the “Photography club students” on 23.08.24 from 12.40 PM.

In this workshop, aspiring photographers took their time and clicked some of the most scenic natural views inside campus. Mr.Naveen kumar.S, first gave the detailed view on how the picture should be clicked and gave the students about 30 mins to click a picture. This workshop was helpful for the students to get a clear picture on the subject.

Around 35 students participated in this workshop.

Photography Club inauguration “Shutter Start”

The department of school of animation and media studies proudly launched The Photography Club with a grand inauguration ceremony titled “Shutter Start” An Inaugural Vision” on 20.07.2024 at the PCR. The event aimed to formally establish a dedicated platform for students to explore, learn, and practice the art and technique of photography. The ceremony was a resounding success, attended by enthusiastic students, distinguished faculty.

Workshop on “The Art of Effective Communication”

The School of Animation and Media Studies organized a workshop on “The Art of Effective Communication” on December 2, 2024, for III B.Sc. Animation and III B.Sc. Visual Communication students. The session was conducted by Mr. V. Ganaga Sabapathy, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Entercon Training Services Pvt Ltd. A total of    34 students (III B.Sc. Animation – 22, III B.Sc. Visual Communication – 12) participated in the event. The workshop enhanced students’ communication skills through engaging activities that encouraged teamwork, collaboration, and personal development.

Mr. V. Ganaga Sabapathy shared valuable insights on key communication aspects, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and presentation techniques. The session featured interactive exercises such as team-building activities and public speaking drills. These activities allowed students to apply theoretical concepts practically, boosting their confidence and helping them develop essential communication skills.

The workshop provided an enriching experience by fostering an interactive learning environment. Students expressed improved confidence in delivering presentations, collaborating within teams, and handling real-world communication challenges. The session effectively prepared them for academic and professional success through enhanced interpersonal and communication skills.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT to TUTICORIN VOC PORT TRUST

An industrial visit to Tuticorin VOC Port Trust was organized for second year students (32 students) of Marine Catering and Hotel Management on 25.10.25. The students had a great opportunity to learn about the operations of the Tuticorin VOC Port Trust related to galley operations on cargo ships. The students also got the experience of witnessing a cargo ship, thereby learning its activities. The authorities at Tuticorin VOC Port Trust were kind enough to elaborately explain the day-to-day activities at the cargo galley. The students found the visit so useful and relevant to their studies.

World Bread Day Celebration

World Bread Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Marine Catering and Hotel Management Department on 16.10.2025. The event showcased 30 varieties of bread and 10 varieties of cookies, highlighting both traditional and international baking styles. A total of 52 students actively participated, preparing delights such as Turkish Pide, French Brioche, Garlic Baguette, and Japanese Curry Bread. The celebration provided valuable hands-on experience in baking techniques, creativity, and presentation. It successfully promoted teamwork, innovation, and appreciation for the global bread culture.

Educational Tour to Vagamon and Wonderla

The Department of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized an educational excursion to Vagamon and Wonderla from September 19 to 20, 2025. The tour provided students with a unique opportunity to explore the region’s scenic attractions, cultural heritage, and local cuisine. During the visit, students engaged with the local community, gaining insights into regional commerce and entrepreneurial practices. This hands-on learning experience not only broadened their understanding of tourism-driven business opportunities but also inspired them to consider launching startups in the future within the tourism sector.

SLCS-Samaj-Seva-Outreach Activity-An awareness program for the Selva Magal Thittam at Nedungulam on 04.10.2025

The Department of Commerce – B.Com (Banking and Insurance) organized an extension activity titled “Awareness Program on the Selva Magal Thittam (Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana – SSY)” at Nedungulam on 4th October 2025. The session was conducted by II Year B.Com (Banking and Insurance) students, with seven students actively participating under the guidance of the Head of the Department. The program successfully reached and benefitted approximately 25 members of the Nedungulam community.

        Ms. Rahmath Nisha, a II Year student, delivered a detailed presentation on the Selva Magal Thittam, explaining that the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is one of the most popular and high-performing small savings schemes. She highlighted the scheme’s significance in financially empowering girl children, emphasizing its long-term benefits, superior tax advantages, and steady growth in account numbers. She concluded by noting that the SSY has become an essential and trusted component of financial planning for families with daughters.

Outcomes of the Program:

  • The awareness program successfully promoted the objectives of the Selva Magal Thittam savings scheme.
  • Participants gained insights into effective money management and developed a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the scheme.
  • The initiative enhanced the community’s understanding of financial planning and fostered accountability for the Selva Magal Thittam.

Participants acquired valuable financial habits and a sense of duty in supporting the objectives of the scheme.

VALUE ADDED COURSE – MS-OFFICE

The Department of Commerce (B&I) successfully conducted a five-day value-added course on MS-OFFICE for II B.Com-B&I students from September 22-26, 2024. The expert trainer provided comprehensive, interactive sessions on the practical and theoretical applications of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint Presentations.

Outcome of the Program

  • The students gained skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office tools, enabling them to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations effectively.
  • In Excel, students learnt how to analyze data, create charts, and utilize formulas, enhancing their ability to manage and interpret information.
  • Students developed the ability to create visually appealing and engaging presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Students were able to apply what they had learned to real-world scenarios, improving their overall workplace performance.

SSI Education Institute from Madurai conducted the session effectively for all 47 students of II B.Com (B&I). The students worked on several programs using MS Office and became proficient in using the software. They were motivated and inspired to pursue careers where MS Office skills are essential.

               

SLCS–Samaaj Seva- Extension activity – “Monsoon Safety and Health Awareness” on 4.10.25

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an SLCS–Samaaj Seva Extension Activity titled “Monsoon Safety and Health Awareness” at Nedumadurai on 4.10.25. A total of 13 students and one faculty member actively participated in this program. The activity aimed to create awareness among the rural community about safety precautions and health practices during the monsoon season
