The Department of DSA and AI & ML organizes a Seminar on “Exploring Career Paths in Emerging Technologies” to provide students with valuable insights into the rapidly evolving technology landscape. The seminar will serve as an effective industry-academia interaction, enriching students’ understanding of career opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and other emerging technologies. The session aims to equip participants with knowledge of future career prospects, industry expectations, and the skills required to excel in the digital era.

SEMINAR ON THE FUTURE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT IN THE DIGITAL ERA

The Department of Honours organizing an insightful seminar on “The Future of Chartered Accountancy in the Digital Era” with the objective of familiarizing students with the evolving role of Chartered Accountants in today’s technology-driven business environment.

The seminar focused on the rapid digital transformation taking place in the fields of accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management. The resource person highlighted how emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) are reshaping the accounting profession and creating new opportunities for Chartered Accountants.

DSA & AI&ML Association Inauguration

The Department of Computer Science (Data Science & Analytics and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) successfully organized the Association Inauguration on 18 July 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at TVR Hall. The event marked the beginning of the department & association activities for the academic year and inspired students to actively
participate in technical, academic, and leadership initiatives.
The programme commenced with a warm Welcome Address delivered by Yogalakshmi S (III B.Sc., CS (DSA)), who extended a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. The gathering was then addressed by the Head of the Department Mrs.N.Anuradha, who formally inaugurated the department associations. During the address, the Head introduced Mrs.B.Gomathi as Association Staff In-Charge and officially launched the ThinkAI Association, and announced the office bearers for the academic year.

CA CRASH COURSE

The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS), Madurai, organized a CA Foundation Crash Course for the I and II Year students from 20th July 2026 onwards. The programme was conducted daily from 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at S2 Hall, Subbalakshmi Block, in association with SN Academy, with the objective of preparing students for the CA Foundation Examination.

The crash course was designed to provide focused coaching on the CA Foundation syllabus through systematic and exam-oriented sessions. Experienced faculty members from SN Academy delivered comprehensive lectures, emphasizing conceptual understanding, problem-solving techniques, and effective examination strategies. Study materials, including notes, practice questions, and model test papers, were provided to help students strengthen their preparation.

Regular assignments, practice exercises, and mock tests were conducted to assess students’ progress and enhance their confidence. Interactive sessions encouraged students to clarify their doubts and improve their understanding of key concepts. The programme aimed to build a strong academic foundation, improve analytical and problem-solving skills, and equip students with the knowledge and confidence required to succeed in the CA Foundation Examination.

The CA Foundation Crash Course received an enthusiastic response from the students, who actively participated throughout the sessions. The programme proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing their exam readiness and supporting their academic and professional aspirations in the field of Chartered Accountancy.

one-day Workshop on Windows Server & Network Security

The Department of Computer Science of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (Autonomous), Madurai, is organizing a one-day Workshop on Windows Server & Network Security on 31st July 2026 (Friday) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pandya Hall (F16).

The workshop is designed to provide students with practical knowledge of Windows Server administration, network security, and modern IT infrastructure management. With the rapid growth of digital technologies and increasing cybersecurity challenges, this programme aims to equip participants with industry-relevant skills required for careers in system administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

The technical sessions will cover a wide range of essential topics, including Windows Server Management, Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO), Hybrid Cloud Integration, Threat Landscape and Network Hardening, Next-Generation Firewall Configuration, and Security Best Practices. These topics are carefully selected to help students understand current trends in enterprise networking and information security.

Fresher’s Day-02.07.2026

The Fresher’s Day program for the I B.Com (Banking & Insurance) students was organized on July 02, 2026, by the Department of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) and Commerce (CA & FinTech) in collaboration with the CUENTAS Club.

The event began with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. M. Sowndarya of II B.Com (B&I).

The program was organized by the second and third-year B.Com (B&I) students, showcasing their leadership and organizational skills. During the event, the II and III year students shared their college experiences and offered valuable guidance to the first-year students, helping them feel welcomed and motivated.

To make the event more enjoyable and interactive, the II and III year students conducted a variety of fun games for the I year B.Com (B&I) and I year B.Com (CA & FinTech) students. The enthusiastic participation of the first-year students created a lively and friendly atmosphere throughout the program.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. R. Srinithi, a II B.Com (B&I) student.

Alumni Interaction 30.06.2026

The Department of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) & Department of B.Com (Computer Application and FinTech) organized an Alumni Interaction Session on 30 June 2026 at Chola Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The session was conducted by Mr. Prakash, an alumnus of the 2014–2017 batches, and Ms. C. Abinaya, an alumna of the 2020–2023 batch.

The programme was organized for the first-year B&I students to provide valuable insights into the Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF), its curriculum, the courses offered, and the diverse career opportunities available in the banking and finance sector. The speakers shared their academic experiences and professional journeys, motivating students to enhance their knowledge and career readiness.

A total of 125 students from the first and third years participated in and benefited from the interactive session.

Career Guidance Program cum Alumni Interaction on “Hospitality Job Opportunities in the Cargo Shipping Industry”

The Department of Marine Catering & Hotel Management organized a Career Guidance Program cum Alumni Interaction on 30 June 2026 for the first-year students on the topic “Hospitality Job Opportunities in the Cargo Shipping Industry”. Totally 75 students actively participated in this event. Mr. Aravindha Samy, Chief Cook, Fleet Management Pvt, Mumbai, an alumnus of the 2014–2017 batch, shared his experience in the cargo shipping and hospitality industries. He explained the duties and responsibilities of a General Steward, the documents required to join a ship, and the sign-on and sign-off procedures. He also discussed safety drill practices and the contract period followed in the shipping industry. The session was informative and motivated the students to explore career opportunities in the maritime hospitality sector.

 

CERTIFICATE COURSE ON “ADOBE INDESIGN”

The School of Animation and Media Studies (SAMS) at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science has successfully conducted a Value-Added Course on Adobe InDesign from October 23 to October 28, 2025. This certificate program, held daily from 8:50 AM to 1:30 PM in the Animation Academic Lab 1, was specifically designed to enhance the technical competencies of students in the field of digital publishing and layout design. Under the expert guidance of Mr. B. Venkatesh, Assistant Professor at SAMS, 23 dedicated students engaged in a rigorous curriculum that balanced theoretical principles with practical, industry-standard applications.

The course commenced with a deep dive into the fundamental role of design principles, where students explored the complex structure of professional brochures, including various fold types and specific print requirements. Participants moved beyond basic software usage to master layout planning through the strategic implementation of grids and guides, ensuring a disciplined approach to whitespace and alignment. Significant emphasis was placed on typography hierarchy and visual balance, teaching students how to direct the viewer’s eye and communicate information effectively through structured page design.

Throughout the week, the Animation Academic Lab 1 served as a hub of creativity and technical problem-solving. The 23 student participants transitioned from conceptual sketches to finished digital assets, gaining a thorough understanding of page sizes and the nuances of preparing files for professional printing. The hands-on nature of the workshop allowed for real-time feedback and troubleshooting, ensuring that every participant could confidently navigate the Adobe InDesign interfaces to create high-quality media products.

The successful completion of this course marks a significant milestone for the participating students, who now possess a specialized skill set that is highly sought after in the media and animation industries. By bridging the gap between creative vision and technical execution, the program achieved its goal of preparing students for the demands of modern graphic communication. This initiative reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to providing value-added education that empowers students with professional tools, ensuring they remain competitive and proficient in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

 

SLCS – SAMAAJ SEVA – EXTENSION ACTIVITY Mobile Phone Usage awarness– 16.02.2026

P. Roy Choudhury Association organized an Extension activity programme for rural area people at Solankuruni on Febrauary 16, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm on Mobile phone usage awareness. It was organized by School of Animation and Media Studies, the event aimed to promote the importance of Mobile Awareness and to create awareness about the responsible use of mobile phones among village communities. Mobile phones have become an essential part of daily life, even in rural areas. While they offer many benefits such as communication, education, and access to information, improper use can lead to problems like addiction, misinformation, and health issues. This extension activity was conducted to create awareness among rural people about the safe and effective use of mobile phones, to encourage the use of mobiles for educational and productive purposes. Totally 10 students from SAMS and 1 faculty members were participated in the event.
