OUT DOOR CATERING (ODC) at Madurai Drive Inn Restaurant, Madurai

Six second year students from the department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management were given an opportunity at Madurai Drive Inn Restaurant, Madurai , to be a part of outdoor catering (ODC) on 25.7.21. They were able to gather knowledge about outlet operation procedures, Mise en Place work, Buffet arrangement and table setting for restaurant. This opportunity motivated and gave hands- on experience to the students.

Career Opportunities in banking sector

The Department of Commerce – B.Com (B&I) organized career counseling program for III B.Com B&I students on 24.07.2021 Mr.V.Vijavel, Deputy Manager, IndusInd bank and also our alumni, interacted with our students and informed our students the opportunities that are available in banking sector. Further he explained how to prepare for the bank exams. He also insisted on the significance of Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF) exam, which we offer as value added course to our students. The session was interactive and 65 students got benefited through this program.

TECH TALK – 24.07.2021

A  Tech Talk event was conducted on 24.07.2020 for the students of I and II B.Sc. CS (SSS) by the department of Computer Science through Google Meet. Ms.K.Shahithya, II B.Sc. CS (SSS) gave the welcome address.

Mr.S.Balamurugan&Mr.S.Srivatsav of II B.Sc. CS (SSS) presented a paper on “Ethical Hacking”. They also demonstrated how to find whether Google account is breached using “https://haveibeenpwned.com/“. Mr.T.S.Ramji&Mr.Aathithiyan of II B.Sc. CS (SSS) presented a paper on “Block Chain Technology”. Mr.Sakthivel&Ms.V.Nivedha presented a paper on XSS (Cross Site Scripting). They demonstrated various kinds of XSS such as Reflected , Stored XSS &DoM based XSS. This session was very useful to all the students. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms.R.Rajalakshmi of III B.Sc. CS (SSS).

CAREER COUNSELLING ON “JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN SOFTWARE INDUSTRY”

The department of Computer Science (SSS) organized a career guidance program on “Job opportunities in software industry” on 24.07.2021. The students from III B.Sc. CS (SSS) participated in the event through the Google Meet.

Mrs.Anuradha, Head, Department of CS (SSS) delivered the felicitation address. She explained the importance of learning innovated tools and techniques related to software industry and also she shared the placement record of passed out students. She mentioned that 27 students from 2018 – 2021 batch got placed in various companies like TCS,Infosys, Triemp, SMI, CMA-CGM, Wipro. Mrs.V.Gayathri, Career Counselling In-charge, CS (SSS) encouraged the students to concentrate more on their placement activities and recruitment process.

Google sheet was forwarded to students and they were asked to fill their willingness for “Placement” and “Higher Studies”. Before filling their choice they were advised to ask confirmation from their parents.Students Placement & Higher Studies willing details are attached with this report. Totally 42 students from III B.Sc. CS (SSS) participated in the event.

ASSOCIATION MEET –KALAISARAL

Kalaisaral, the Association Meet was conducted by the TechnoFest Association Members on 24.07.2021 through the Google Meet. Students from II and III B.ScCS (SSS) participated in the event. Ms.K.Shahithya of II B.Sc C.S (SSS) compered the programme. The event  started with the welcome address given by Ms.Meha Priyadharshini of II B.Sc CS(SSS).Mrs.N.Anuradha Head of the Department gave the felicitation address. She encouraged the students to work as a team and to conduct more events in upcoming association activity.

Non-technical events were conducted for the edutainment of the students. Ms.M.Deepthi and Ms.N.Sivashankari of  II B.Sc CS (SSS) and Mr.Ajay Mathesh and Mr.S.Badrinarayanan of II B.Sc CS hosted a connection event and Quiz programme, respectively. The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.R.Rajalakshmi of III B.Sc CS (SSS).

Webinar on “Eco System of Sony Filmmaking – FX3”

The Medius Coronet Association of Visual Communication department conducted a webinar on “Eco System of Sony Filmmaking – FX3” on 24.07.2021 at 11:30a.m. The resource person   Mr. Musthafa Basha Sony Specialist handled the session via Google meet. Ms. S. Susmitha from II B.Sc Visual Communication delivered the welcome address.

Totally 38 (II B.Sc-12, III B.Sc-23, II M.Sc-3) students participated in the webinar. Students actively participated in the session by posting their queries and it was clarified by the resource person. Students were also given tasks during the session they responded well. Due to the positive response and interest from the students, the resource person expressed his willingness to handle another session in the forthcoming days.

The session concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Illakiya M, final year student of B.Sc Visual Communication. The students gathered lots of information and they requested the department members to conduct many more sessions in future.

Webinar “Time and space complexity of algorithms in data structure”

The department of Computer Science(Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Time and space complexity of algorithms in data structure” for the students of II B.Sc CS(SSS) for inculcating the knowledge of data structure in software development.

The webinar was presented by Dr.S.Prasanna, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Thiyagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.The webinar was arranged through GMeet on 24/07/2021 from 11.00AM to 12.30PM.

Our principal Dr.R.Sujatha delivered the presidential address and advised the students that the active participation of such webinars will give spark for their further research in their academics. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, delivered the felicitation address and shared the importance of data structure in software development. The resource person Dr.S.Prasanna clearly explained how to measure time and space complexity of algorithms used in all kinds of data structures.

Students learnt different types of data structures used in programming languages. They learned about the difference between built-in data types and user defined datatypes. The selection of data type for the program helps to increase the efficiency of the program. The time and space complexities are also the base reasons for the efficiency of the program. The students got clear idea about how to measure time and space complexites of the program through some real-tme examples. The time complexity measurement was explined for the looping statements like ‘for’, ‘while’ loop and decision-making statements like ‘if’, ‘ladder-if’.

As a whole, the webinar was an informative session for the students and gave a clear insight about the importance of data structures in software domain.

The association members of TechnoFest Association, Department of CS(SSS) made the arrangements for the entire session. Ms.Pooja Shri, II B.Sc CS(SSS) compered the entire session and Nivedha.V, II B.Sc CS(SSS) welcomed the gathering. Finally Mr.Santhose kumar, II B.Sc CS(SSS) thanked the gathering by proposing vote of thanks.

Totally 52 students from II B.Sc CS(SSS) attended the session and got benefitted. Students were given the feedback form to give their feedback about the session.

 

 

Collaboration Activity- “Nuances of South Indian Breakfast”

        The department of Hotel Management and Catering Science, GTN Arts College, Dindigul and the department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai have jointly organized a student  faculty exchange programme(Collaborative Activity) on 22.7.21 from 11.00 a.m to 12 .30 p.m, through Google meet. The title of this programme is “Nuances of South Indian Breakfast”. Dr.Chef.M.S.RajMohan, Head, Department of Hotel Management and Catering Science, G.T.N Arts College, Dindugal was the resource person for this webinar. He has delivered on the importance of the breakfast, types of breakfast, and nutritive values of Indian breakfast. The exchange program provides an opportunity to develop their cooking skills in the area of breakfast cookery. Through our exchange program, we are able to bring leadership quality, innovative thinking, and creative skills of the students enabling them to become an entrepreneur in this field. This programme has ended with an effective interaction session with our students.Totally 40 students got benefited through this program.

 

SLCS Samaaj seva – Extension Activity -“Awareness Programme on Covid-19” & “Millets Usage in Ancient Periods”

As part of an extension activity, Marine catering and Hotel Management Department students did a programme in  Shyamalavani  Community Radio on 22.7.21 from 11.00 a.m to 12.30 p.m. Mr.R.Gopinath of third year MC&HM student spoke about the “Millets usage in Ancient Periods”. Under the title he spoke about varies millets used in Tamilnadu, types of millets, medicinal and nutritional value of millets and new dishes made from millets like varahu briyani, kelvarahu dosai, Ragi Puttu and biscuits. Mr.T.Prabhu, second year MC&HM gave an  awareness speech about COVID-19 transmission, identification of symptoms, safety measures, demonstration of use of mask, hand washing, purpose of vaccination. This type of extension activity by the students will be useful for the betterment of the rural community.

WEBINAR ON “EFFECTIVE USE OF N-LIST FOR LITERATURE SURVEY TO DESIGN A NEW FOOD PRODUCT”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Webinar on “Effective use of N List for literature survey to design a new food product” on 21-07-2021 at3.30pminF26roomthroughthishttps://meet.google.com/lookup/fcfel7kuiq?authuser=0&hs=179 link around The resource person of this webinar is Mrs.M.Guna Sundari, the Asst. librarian of our college, explained about the steps involved in N-list link for downloading the e-books and e- journal. The resource person also enlightened the students about how to do a literature survey which is a part of Food design and its practical course. This webinar would definitely help students to get an idea about N-LIST for downloading E-journal and books which will be useful for the students to identify the problem and to develop a new food product. The session was interactive and the resource persons answered the participants queries. Totally 25 students of FSPM I&II year got benefited from this webinar. The feedback of this webinar was collected from the students and the feedback showed that the students were highly satisfied with this webinar.
