Workshop on Data Driven Business Decision

A Workshop on Data-Driven Business Decision was organised by the Lakshya Association of the MBA Department on April 11, 2023 at 9 a.m. in the Seminar Hall.

Dr J K Sharma, Executive Director, IIMT University, Greater Noida, spoke on the objective of decision-making, better insights on data mining, cost reduction, competitive advantage, and improved customer experience.

 

Totally, 123 students (68 I- MBA, 9 – Anna University, 46 – BBA)and 8 faculty members participated in the workshop, Dr R Sivajothi and Dr K S KarthikBabu were the coordinators.

 

A five-day Value-Added Course on “Linguaskill Certification – Prelims” (CEFR Level – B1)

In an endeavor to prepare the 1st-year MBA students, numbering 75, into Industry-Ready from communication aspect, RL Institute of Management Studies in association with Voice Training and Research Pvt. Ltd, Madurai conducted a five-day Value-Added Course on “Linguaskill Certification – Preliminary” from 20th to 24th of March 2023 on its campus.

Dr. M. Subramanian, Head of the Department, MBA prefaced his Keynote address emphasizing the maiden endeavor that RLIMS pursues in enabling the students to appear for the Linguaskill Certification. He also reiterated that many organizations require Linguaskill-Qualified candidates.

Mrs. Mouli Devi, Trainer at Voice Training and Research Pvt. Ltd, Madurai walked all the students about the nitty-gritty about the four tenets of the English Language such as “Listening, Speaking, Reding and Writing”. She precisely pointed out that acing this Linguaskill Exam with merit will certainly stand all the students in good stead, not only during their career start but also throughout their career journey.

“This Linguaskill certification is accepted and trusted by thousands of leading employers and organizations worldwide. It is a mark of excellence, opening doors and giving you the skills and confidence to thrive” the trainer said. She also spoke on the examination format and simple strategies that students must employ during the placement preparation period, to pass this examination at ease.

She further added that as many as 146 organizations including Higher Education Institutions in India are accepting this certification. Hence, the demand for BEC-qualified students has progressively increased of late.

The trainer provided the students with ample exercises to prepare them for the exam. She also conducted an assessment on the last day of the training to understand the learning ability of the students.

Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – Distribution of Stationery and Personal Grooming Kit to School Children

Lakshaya Association, Department of MBA, organized an Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on 1st March 2023, at N.M.R.Subburaman Memorial Primary School, K.K. Nagar, Madurai.

Stationery, personal grooming kits and groceries were contributed by our students.

Totally, 56 Second Year MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. S. Sekar and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

REPORT OF FREE TANCET COACHING

R L Institute of Management Studies in association with Dinamalar conducted a two-day free TANCET Coaching Class for the final-year UG students on 25.02.2023 and 26.02.2023 at The Madura College. The curtain of the program drew open with the prayer song following which Dr.M.Subramanian, HOD, RLIMS welcomed the TANCET aspirants.

Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the inaugural address by underscoring the paramount importance of managing time effectively to attain goal in one’s life. Dr. V. Joseph Paulraj, Professor and HOD of MBA, Anna University Regional Campus, Madurai, enlightened the participants on how to scrape through the TANCET examinations at ease and about the various strategies the participants must employ to secure good score in the exam. The technical sessions were handled by the faculty members of RLIMS.

  • Business situation analysis – Dr. S. Sekar, AP, RLIMS.
  • Reading compreh`ension and verbal reasoning – Mr. Sivakumar, Trainer – Time Institute, Madurai.
  • Logical Reasoning and Data Sufficiency – Dr. K. S. Karthick Babu, AP, RLIMS.
  • Quantitative Ability – Dr. R. Sivajothi, AP, RLIMS.

The coaching enabled the participants to acquire a great deal of insight into the TANCET examination and its various aspects. In order to access the understanding level of the participants, quiz programs were conducted during the sessions. Around 220 Under Graduate final-year students from different colleges across Madurai participated in this program.

Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – Awareness Programme on “Vrkshaaropan Kaaryakram”

Lakshaya Association, Department of MBA, organized an Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Vrkshaaropan Kaaryakram” on 18th January 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at RN Middle School, T. Pudhupatti Village, Madurai. The event was organized to create awareness on tree plantation and its impact on the environment. The students planted various trees within the school campus . Totally, 29 MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. R. Sivajothi and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

Industrial Visit to Naga Foods

The “Lakshya” Association of MBA department went on an Industrial visit on 09.01.2023 to Naga Foods, Dindigul. Students learned practical knowledge gained exposure to new technologies, career insights, networking opportunities, and enhanced their learning experience.

Totally 55, students and 3 faculty members participated in the industrial visit, Dr Sivajothi , Dr S Pugalanthi and Dr K S KarthikBabu were the coordinators.

Industrial Visit to V.O.C. Port – Tuticorin

Department of MBA organized an Industrial Visit to “V.O.C. Port” at Tuticorin on 26th December 2022, for the I year students . The industrial visit aimed to orient the students about the logistics sector.

Totally, 62 MBA students  and 4 faculty members participated in the program. Dr. R. Sivajothi and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

 

Retail Bazaar Sodh Yatra

Retail Bazzar Shodh Yatra was organised by Lakshya Association of MBA department on 02/12/2022 and 03/12/2022 at 9 a.m at Masi Street, Madurai.

Retail BazzarShodhYatra outcomes:

  • Identification and documentation of grassroots innovation and traditional knowledge.
  • Exchange of ideas and knowledge among the participants from different regions and backgrounds.
  • Raising awareness on the importance of imbibing local knowledge and innovation
  • Creating opportunities for innovation to showcase their ideas and products to customers.
  • Totally 75, students and 6 faculty members participated in the Retail BazzarShodhYatra, Dr Sivajothi and Dr K S KarthikBabu were the coordinators.

MIC – MAC – MAN – Talk

Lakshaya Association, Department of MBA, organized a National Level Colloquium on the title “MIC – MAC – MAN – Talk” on 21st November 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The event was organized to enlighten the students with Micro, Macro and Managerial Economic concepts and its application in decision making.

The program commenced with Prayer. Dr. M. Subramanian, HOD – MBA welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha – Principal, inaugurated the program. Dr. K. Archunan – Vice Principal and Dr. S. Priya – Dean Academics felicitated the program.

In the first session, Dr. R. Sujatha – Principal – Subbalakshmi Lakshmipahty College of Science, Madurai, started the discussion on the theme “How do Savings and Investment Decisions Impact Personal Financial Goal?

Through the session, students were able to get an insight into various investment avenues and the application of Micro Economic concepts.

In the second session, Dr. S. Puspharaj, Associate Professor & Head – Department of Econometrics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, discussed “How Prudent Business Decisions were Taken?”. The students were able to relate the application of Economic concepts in business decision making.

The third session was handled by Dr. Gaurav Shreekant, Assistant Professor in Amity Business School on the theme, “Is India ready for a Cashless Economy?”The students were able to understand the application of Macro Economic concepts in policy formulation.

The fourth session was handled by Dr. C. Muthuraja,  Associate Professor & Head (PG & Research), Department of Economics’ The American College, Madurai, on the theme ”How does climate change affect economic activity?” The students were able to understand the role and importance of the external environment, particularly the climate in bridging the gap between production and consumption.

Totally, 131 MBA students ( I Year – 70 , II Year – 61) participated in the program. Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep and Dr. R. Sivajothi were the coordinators.

Symposium on Finnovate’22

Symposium on Finnovate’22 was organised by the “Lakshya” Association of MBA department on 18.11.2022 at 9 am in the Auditorium.  The key speakers are as follows:-

Ms Srividhya, Senior Advisor – ICICI Securities Chennai. She explained the fundamentals and scope of Stock Market in India.

Mr Kathirvel Srinivasan, Asst. Vice President, Tata Capital, Mumbai, highlighted the emerging trend of artificial intelligence in Digital Lending in Banks.

Mr Patrick Mathews, Regional Branch Manager, Kotak Mutual Funds, Madurai, gave an insight into the mutual funds and its various policies.

Totally, 99 MBA students participated and got benefited through this program.
