Seminar on “Recent trends in Business & Commerce”

ZEAL, an Association of BBA, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a seminar on “Recent trends in Business & Commerce” on 25.03.2022 for final year UG commerce students of Parvathy’s Arts and Science College, Dindigul. Dr.K.Rajesh Kumar, HoD – BBA has addressed the session as the resource person. Mr.R.Gopi (II BBA), Ms.V.Gobika (II BBA) and Ms.C.Aarthy (I BBA) have accompanied the resource person as co-trainers. The resource person along with his co-trainers elaborated the current advancements in the field of business and commerce. The students felt the seminar to be very interesting and interactive. A total of 38 students participated and got benefited through this seminar.

Training Program on “Business English Certificate – Prelims” (CEFR Level – B1) 14th to 18th March, 2022

In an endeavor to mould the 1st-year MBA students numbering 65 into Industry-Ready from communication perspective, RL Institute of Management Studies in association with Voice Training and Research Pvt. Ltd, Madurai conducted a five-day Training Program on “Business English Certificate – Preliminary” from 14th to 18th of March 2022 on its campus. The curtain of the training program opened with the invocation of God, following which Mr. P. Selvam, Assistant Professor, RLIMS delivered the welcome address. He underlined the importance of possessing Business Communication Skills that plays a pivotal role in expressing oneself with assertiveness in the workplace.

Dr. M. Subramanian, Head of the Department, MBA prefaced his Keynote address with the maiden endeavor that RLIMS pursues in enabling the students to appear for the Business English Certificate Examination. He also reiterated that many organizations require BEC- Qualified candidates. ‘This batch must be fortunate enough to be offered with BEC-Prelims Training because this is the first kind of initiative our department undertakes ever since its inception,’ said Dr. S. Pugalanthi, Associate Professor, RLIMS in his special address.

Mrs. Gowri Solomon, Trainer at Voice Training and Research Pvt. Ltd, Madurai walked all the students about the nitty-gritty about the four tenets of the English Language such as “Listening, Speaking, Reding and Writing”. She precisely pointed out that acing this BEC-Preliminary Exam with merit will certainly stand all the students in good stead, not only during their career start but also throughout their career journey.

“This BEC certification is accepted and trusted by thousands of leading employers and organizations worldwide. It is a mark of excellence, opening doors and giving you the skills and confidence to thrive” the trainer said. She also spoke on the examination format and simple strategies that students must employ during the placement preparation period, to pass this examination at ease.

She further added that as many as 146 organizations including Higher Education Institutions in India are accepting this certification. Hence, the demand for BEC-qualified students has progressively increased of late.

The trainer provided the students with ample exercises to prepare them for the exam. She also conducted an assessment on the last day of the training to understand the learning ability of the students.

Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – “Ban Plastic Awareness”

Lakshaya, an Association of the Department of MBA, organised an Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) “Ban Plastic Awareness” on 12th March, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Alampatti Village in Maduri District. The event was organised to create awareness about non-degradable plastic waste and its effect on the environment. The students involved in removing the plastic waste in the surrounding place. 27 first year MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. S. Pugalanthi and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

Industrial Visit to Milky Mist

The “Lakshya” Association of MBA department went on an Industrial visit on 09.03.2022 to Milky Mist, Erode. Students gained knowledge of industry operations, understanding of safety and hygiene, gained exposure to career opportunities, and network opportunities.

Totally, 32 students and 3 faculty members participated in the industrial visit, Dr R Sivajothi and Dr D Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

Extension Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – “Social Media Awareness”

Lakshaya an Association of the Department of MBA, organised an Extension Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) “Social Media Awareness” on 3rd March 2022, at 12 noon at Eliyarpathi Village in Maduri District. The event was organised to create awareness about social media with regard to prevention of frauds in banking activities. The students briefed about phishing, vishing, smishing, brand spoofing and carding. 4 first year MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. S. Sekar and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

 

Seminar on “ Jewellery Appraiser Awareness Program“

“Jewellery Appraiser Awareness Program” was organised for the students of MBA and B Com (B&I) students by the Career Development Cell on 28th Feb, 2022, from 10.00 am to 12.15 pm in (F-25) Seminar Hall. The event was organised to gain more employable skills to our students. Mr. S. Thirupathi Rajan ,Managing Director – Gold Smith Academy Private Limited with his team was the Guest Speakers of this program. Dr. S. Sekar was the program Co-ordinator. ( Totally 155 Students) MBA- 33, B Com (B&I) III yr- 62  and B Com (B&I)  II- 60 – got benefited out of this program.

 

Report on “ Management Day Celebration “

 “Management day” was organised by the “Lakshya” the Department Association of MBA Program on 21st Feb 2022, from 2.15pm to 3.15 pm through Google Meet in F-32 hall. The event was organised to make them learn about Business analytics. Mr. Ananthapalli Gowtham Shankar – Certified Java Professional from WileyNXT- India (P) Ltd was the Guest Speaker of this program. Dr. S. Pugalanthi was the program Co-ordinator. Totally 31 I- MBA students got benefited out of this program.

 

SLCS SamaajSeva -“Gender Sensitization”

On 12/02/2022 (Saturday) first-year (4)and second-year (7)MBA Students took initiative and conducted an extension activity on GENDER SENSITIZATION for people of  Nedumadurai Village near Kariyapatti (Madurai).

Totally 50 women and men in and around the village participated in the activity and were benefitted. The aim behind this extension activity is to create awareness on Gender equality and importance of each gender and various opportunities available for both genders. We taught them about the importance of Gender and to overcome the obstacles. It was an eye-opening session for the villagers. Dr.S. Pugalanthi from our department was the faculty guide for the extension activity.

Guest Lecture on “Intellectual Property Rights”

Guest Lecture on “Intellectual Property Rights” focusing the importance of IPR was organised for II Year students on 4th February 2022 at 9.00 a.m.

The resources person for the guest lecture was Dr. K. Rajesh Kumar, HOD – BBA of SLCS. The guest lecture was felicitated by Dr. M. Subramanian, HOD – MBA Programme. The guest lecture was organised to facilitate the learning and understanding the various aspects of IPR especially the aspects related to ethics. 38 II-MBA students were benefited out of this program.

SLCS Samaaj Seva – “Mobile Banking”

SLCS Samaaj Seva – an extension activity on “Mobile Banking” was organised by the “Lakshya” the Department Association of MBA Program on 03rd Feb 2022, at 10.30 am in the SBI Bank, Valayankulam, Madurai. The event was organised to facilitate the awareness and various aspects of Mobile Banking for the customers who visited the Bank. Dr. S. Sekar was the program Co-ordinator and our 12 MBA students (I MBA-6 Nos & II- MBA 6 Nos.) organised this program. Totally 15 people from the valayankulam surroundings got benefited out of this program.
