INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO “Naga Foods”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Industrial Visit to Naga Foods– Dindigul on 26.11.2022. It was an informative and interesting visit and the students learned the processing of maida, sooji and whole wheat flour based food products and their preservation techniques, which inhibit microbiological or biochemical changes and thus allow time for distribution, sales and home storage. Ms. Soniya, Marketing BTL Manager Naga Foods, explained the history, industrial development and technological aspects and professional ethics involved in food processing. Totally, 35 students of FSPM actively participated in this industrial visit.

 

Factory Visit to Naga Foods, Dindigul

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized a factory visit to Naga Foods, Dindigul, on 26.11.2022.  The purpose of this visit is to learn the processing of wheat products into Rava, Maida, Vermicelli, Pasta and Pizza. Ms. Sofia, Marketing Manager of Naga Foods, gave a valuable presentation of their well established brands such as Naga, Savorit, Kolo and Oyalo.  She explained the food processing involved in manufacturing the above products. The students were served to taste their product- Red Cheese Pasta. Students learnt in detail on the various steps involved in manufacturing the above food products. Finally, Samples of Savorit Pasta and Kolo snacks were provided to the students. Totally, 18 students from III BBA were benefited by this factory visit.

Workshop on “Corporate Grooming &Etiquette, HR Round Interview and Group discussion”

D.P.Roy Choudhury Association of Department of Animation & CDC-SLCS jointly organized a Workshop on “Corporate Grooming & Etiquette, HR Round Interview and Group discussion”on 25. 11. 2022 at 11.00 a.m. in the Animation Academic Lab-I.

Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation welcomed the gathering.Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics,stressed the importance of this training program and also assured that many more programs will be introduced in future for preparing students for job interviews.Mrs.NithyaShanthakumar, Soft Skills Trainer, New Delhi, was the chief guest of the event.

The main objective of this event isto instill the confidence among students by improving their personality.These aspects are often neglected by the students but they forget that these are the important pillars of one’s personality and often the key for success.It also plays a vital role in improving communication skills among students. Students should be expressive and smart enough to present themselves in front of the public. She also expressed her views in such a manner in which our students learnt to imbibe all those tactics and apply it happily.

The programendedsuccessfully and received a positive feedback from the students. Totally,61 students from I& III Year Animation were benefitted through this event.

WORLD MILK DAY CELEBRATION

To commemorate “WORLD MILK  DAY, FAGAS Association, Department of Food Science and Processing Management, celebrated World Milk day with the theme- “Dairy Net Zero” on 25.11.22 at 11.30 am in our college. The program was inaugurated by                          Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, Dr. K. Archunan, vice Principal and Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics. .Dr. K. U. Pavitra Krishna, Head of the department, introduced the students to the Principal and explained that the day provided an opportunity to focus on the types of milk and created awareness on our healthy diets. Totally, 37 students actively participated in the entire program and got benefited.

GUEST LECTURE ON INDUSTRIAL ORIENTED APPLICATIONS USING C

Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a session on Guest Lecture on Industrial Oriented Applications Using C for I B. Sc CS (SSS) on 24/11/2022. Dr. T. Chandrakumar, Associate Professor, Dept of Applied Mathematics and Computational Science, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, acted as the resource person. Ms. J. S. Divya Dharsini, I B.Sc. CS (SSS), welcomed the gathering. The chief guest introduction was given by Mrs. D. Padmapriya, Head of the Department. The resource person explained the importance of learning C and its implementation through Java programming. She explained job opportunities in C domain by sharing her own experience. Totally, 60 students participated in the event and they made the event interactive and got all the doubts clarified.  Finally, vote of thanks was delivered by S Divya, I B. Sc CS (SSS).

International Journalist Remembrance Day – 2022

Commemorate “International Journalist Remembrance Day” we the Library Managing Club & Readers Hub jointly organized a seminar on “Journalism” on 23rd November, 2022 in the Library at 12.40 pm. the programme was inaugurated by Selvan. M. Aswin, II year B.Com(B&I).

Mrs. Jansy Rani, Asst. Professor Dept of Viscom, the special invitee of our programme delivered a valuable speech about the “Journalism”

In this, she explained about the current trend and the importance of Journalism. She explained the Library importance & read the newspaper of student. How to work the Journalist in newspaper 0.Industry. Totally around 60 First year & Second year students were participated in this programme. All the students got benefited in this programme.

Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Raising Awareness on Diabetes Management for All”

To commemorate “World Diabetes Day”, FAGAS Association of Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an (Outreach Program SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Raising Awareness on Diabetes Management for Allon 23.11.2022 at TVS Nagar & Anupannadi between 4.00-6.00 pm to raise awareness on diabetes as a global public health issue and what needs to be done, collectively and individually for better prevention, diagnosis and management of the condition on the theme ‘Access to Diabetes Education‘. Our Students realized that everyone must contribute and understand his/her social responsibilities towards society. Totally, 11 students participated and 20 members got benefited through this activity.

Field Visit to Thirumalai Naiyakkar Mahal

D. P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Field Visit to Thirumalai Naiyakkar Mahal on 23.11.2022 for students of I B.Sc. Animation & P.G. Diploma in Animation Techniques.

The main objective of this trip is to understand the artistic blend of Dravidian and Islamic style of Art &Architecture. Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace is a place worth admiring and exploring. It was built in 1635, by the King Thirumalai Nayak who had the vision of creating a masterpiece for royal stay. It was designed as a residence for the king by an Italian architect. The interior of this palace mesmerizes everyone with its intricate paintings, design and sculptures. Paintings on the roof of the palace are worth noticing. Along with courtyard, the dancing hall of the palace is also worth exploring. This palace is one of the must visit places of history and those who love to explore architectural fineness of bygone eras. The sound and light shows conducted every evening at the palace, makes the visit to this palace even more exciting. Now under the protection of Tamil Nadu Archaeological Department, this palace was declared as a national monument immediately after independence.

Students visited the Exhibition of royal lifestyle of the Palace, organized by the Tamilnadu Archaeological Department. The students sketched the Palace from their perspective and made use of this trip as an outdoor study.

The Visit ended fruitfully and totally 36 students were benefitted through this visit.

Highlights of the Session:

The Resource Person Mr. R. Karthikeyan, CEO of Jeyaram Bakery, spoke to the students about the importance of hygiene in food units, the license required to start a food business, the availability of bank loans and how to approach the bank manager for a loan, the importance of food safety certificate, the employee’s provident fund, the ESIC facility for workers, the importance of hard work, and accepting and learning the latest technology in your industry. This seminar enhanced the development of the concept for sustaining the food business and made it a memorable experience.

Outcome(s) of the activity:

·         Students were able to plan a business, describe the competition, target customer and financial expectations for their business concept.

·         Student revealed the results of their business to the class, as ‘GO’ or ‘NO GO’ business idea.

MIC – MAC – MAN – Talk

Lakshaya Association, Department of MBA, organized a National Level Colloquium on the title “MIC – MAC – MAN – Talk” on 21st November 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The event was organized to enlighten the students with Micro, Macro and Managerial Economic concepts and its application in decision making.

The program commenced with Prayer. Dr. M. Subramanian, HOD – MBA welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha – Principal, inaugurated the program. Dr. K. Archunan – Vice Principal and Dr. S. Priya – Dean Academics felicitated the program.

In the first session, Dr. R. Sujatha – Principal – Subbalakshmi Lakshmipahty College of Science, Madurai, started the discussion on the theme “How do Savings and Investment Decisions Impact Personal Financial Goal?

Through the session, students were able to get an insight into various investment avenues and the application of Micro Economic concepts.

In the second session, Dr. S. Puspharaj, Associate Professor & Head – Department of Econometrics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, discussed “How Prudent Business Decisions were Taken?”. The students were able to relate the application of Economic concepts in business decision making.

The third session was handled by Dr. Gaurav Shreekant, Assistant Professor in Amity Business School on the theme, “Is India ready for a Cashless Economy?”The students were able to understand the application of Macro Economic concepts in policy formulation.

The fourth session was handled by Dr. C. Muthuraja,  Associate Professor & Head (PG & Research), Department of Economics’ The American College, Madurai, on the theme ”How does climate change affect economic activity?” The students were able to understand the role and importance of the external environment, particularly the climate in bridging the gap between production and consumption.

Totally, 131 MBA students ( I Year – 70 , II Year – 61) participated in the program. Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep and Dr. R. Sivajothi were the coordinators.
