 Beneficiary                 : Lady Doak College Students (136 STUDENTS)

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management, in collaboration with the Department of French, Lady Doak College, organized a two day workshop on “Cuisine Française” on 8.11.2022 and 10.11.2022 (2 days). Totally, 136 students from various departments at Lady Doak College actively participated in this workshop. Mr. C. Suresh Kumar, HoD, Department of MC&HM, Mr. P. Anand and Mr. E. Jacob Jebaraj, Assistant Professors, Department of MC&HM, prepared a 14-Course French meal to the students. A brief presentation of French culinary traditions and customs was also made by the chefs. Handpicked students from Lady Doak College tried their hands at the preparation of certain dishes under the guidance of the kitchen staff. It was a very interesting program that gave a great learning experience for students and faculty members.

International Accounting Day” Celebration – “Seminar on IFRS for Business Reporting

   Royal Charter Association of Commerce (Honours) ACCA organized a “Seminar on IFRS for Business Reporting” in commemoration of “International Accounting Day” on 10.11.2022 at Seminar Hall. The program commenced with a prayer song. The association members hosted the program. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr. D.Selvaraj, Head of the Department, Commerce (Honours) ACCA. He informed that, every year on November 10, we celebrate International Accounting Day. The day of honour is declared in 1494 when Italian mathematician, Father of Accounting “Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli” wrote a book with bookkeeping procedures. The Resource Person, Dr.  G.Venkatesan, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, Sona College of Arts & Science, Salem, briefed on the significance of the celebration and the main objective of IFRS is to develop the public interest of a single set of high quality, understandable and enforceable global accounting standards. It requires high quality, transparent and comparable information in financial statements and other financial reporting to help the participants in the world’s capital markets and other users make economic decisions. Totally, 52 students motivated and benefitted through this program.

The World Tourism Day – 2022

To Commemorate “The World Tourism Day” Library Managing Club & Readers Hub jointly organized a Competition the topic of Tourism related Essay writing and Drawing on 08/11/2022 at 12.40 pm in Library. The programmed was inaugurated by Mrs. M. Gunasundari, Asst. Librarian. The Drawing competition 5 students were participated and 18 were participated in Essay Competition.  Participants list were attached.

Talent Exposure program

Department of Languages & Extra Curricular Cell organized a Talent Exposure program for students to show case their talent on 08.11.2022 at 11 a.m at our college premises. The objective of this event is to make the students understand the importance and contribution of exposing their talents and extra-curricular activities for the betterment of their future and celebrate young generation as a wealth that cannot be ceased. Totally, 24 students participated in the program. Students enjoyed a lot and made the day a memorable one.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO “ANNAI IDLY”

FAGAS Association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Industrial visit to Annai idli, Madurai, on 08.11.2022.  The students of I, II and III year FSPM (Totally 37 students) and two faculty members participated in the visit. It was an informative and interesting visit and the students learnt the processing methods and the factors affecting storage conditions in cereal and pulse based products especially idli, Chapathi and curd. Mr. Vel Murugan, Factory Manager, explained the history, industrial development and technological aspects involved in processing. In general, the visit helped to gain some technical inputs to improve the shelf life by proper storage to avoid decay, contamination and spoilage.

Webinar on “Role of chemistry in Food Industry”

FAGAS Assoiciation of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Webinar on “Role of chemistry in Food Industry” on 07.11.2022 through google meet (https://meet.google.com/zho-dpnb-mev). Mr. P. Edwin Deepak, Quality control Officer, Chemplast Sanmark Private limited, Mettur, highlighted the importance and role of chemicals in food industry and how it is processed with preservatives. The session was interactive and the resource person answered all the queries raised by the participants related to the program. The feedback of the program was collected from the students and the analysis showed that the  program was highly informative to all the students. Totally, 35 students and 5 faculty members participated and got benefited through this program.

 

Industrial Visit to Sea Blue Ship Yard @ Cochin

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized an Industrial visit to Sea Blue Ship Yard at Cochin on 04.11.2022.  The purpose of this visit is to learn the various processes of maintenance and repairing works and also rebuilding the existing ships.  Mr. E. Tojen, Director – Operations, presented the details of the various departments that is functioning towards repairing and rebuilding the ships.  He further explained the safety measures that they follow during their work. Students learnt in detail on the various steps involved in repairing and maintaining different types of ships and had a great learning experience during this visit.

The students also visited the ship yard and had a practical exposure of the repairing and maintenance work. Totally, 30 students from III BBA were benefited by this visit.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN CYBER SECURITY DOMAIN

The Technofest Association, Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization), organized a session on Career Opportunities in Cyber Security Domain for II& III B. Sc CS (SSS) on 04/11/2022. Ms. S. Shruthikaa, Senior Analyst at Ernst & Young LLP, Chennai, acted as the resource person. S. Bala Ganesh, III B. Sc CS (SSS) welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal. The keynote address was given by Mrs. D. Padmapriya, Head of the Department. The chief guest introduction was delivered by Mrs. N. Anuradha, Assistant Professor. The resource person explained the importance of learning Cryptography and its implementation through Java programming. She explained job opportunities in cyber security domain by sharing her own experience as a Cyber Security Analyst. Totally, 71 students participated in the event and they made the event interactive and got all the doubts clarified.  Finally, vote of thanks was delivered by S. Jeyaraman, III B. Sc CS (SSS).

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA –OUTREACH ACTIVITY ON “EMERGENCY RESCUE AND FIRST AID”

         Herbert William Henrich Association of the Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an outreach activity on “EMERGENCY RESCUE AND FIRST AID” at Vellimalai Reserve Forest, near Dindigul, on 02/11/2022. Totally, 3 faculty members Mr.I.Vivek Ramkumar, HoD i/c & Mr.B.Satheeshprabu and Mr.R.Brameshwaran, Assistant professors along with 34 FIS Students (I year, II year, III year, P.G.Diploma) conducted the activity. They conducted an activity on emergency rescue and first aid. This initiative created awareness on taking necessary steps in emergency situations. The students gained knowledge on how to rescue and offer first aid. During this activity students planted samplings to save our environmental health.  The aim of this campaign is to spread the importance of safety measures during the emergency rescue periods. Finally, to test the fitness of the students, we all went to a trekking to sirumalai hills was organized.  Around 15 Peoples get benefitted from the activity.

Career Guidance Programme on “Expectations from the Fresher in the Advertising Sector”

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Programme on “Expectations from the Fresher in the Advertising Sector” on 02.11.2022 at 12.00p.m. in the Animation Academic Lab– III of our college premises.

Mr.S.Saravanan, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering.  Ms. Dhivya, Human Resource Manager, Menorah Stationaries – Madurai,was the chair person of the day. She explained, “Employment opportunities for a fresher in India have increased in manifold over the last few years. The only way to have an edge over others in the job market is to assess yourself and hone your employable skills accordingly. Employers look for certain basic qualities and if you can groom yourself to meet their expectation, you can secure your dream job in no time”. She also insisted, “Talk to seniors who are already in the job or use the internet to develop the relevant skills in the Advertising Sector. Whatever skills you mention as your strengths, to impress your employer, should be kept ready with ideas to support to achieve clarity. Basically, you should be strong in fundamentalsof the designing software and be good in analytical & communication skills”. She concluded her speech by saying, “Sound communication will help you to grab the attention of all and you can easily carve a place for yourself in the organization.”

The programme concluded effectively and received a positive feedback from the students. Totally,28 students were benefitted through this event.
