Workshop on Joy of International Cuisine

The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have organized a workshop on the topic “ Joy of International Cuisine 2019” on 27.4.2019 as an promotional activities, to create an awareness about the Marine Catering Course and many +2 students have participated in this program. Mr. Mohammed Sheriff, General Manager, GRT Regency Hotel, Madurai as a Chief Guest and delivered a speech to the student’s in a very constructive manner.

Seminar on “Syllabus Framing and Outcome Based Education ”

A one day seminar on Syllabus Framing and Outcome Based Education was organized by IQAC of SLCS and RLIMS on 23 rd April 2019, Tuesday.

Dr.V.K.Sivasubrsmanian Professor & Head Department of Chemistry K.L.N.College of Engineering &Technology in company with Prof.M.Murugeshwari, Department of ECE, K.L.N.College of Engineering &Technology along with  Dr. S. Theenathayalan, Associate Professor & Head Department of Economics, The Madura College were the resource persons for the seminar

Dr.R.L.Ramnath Advisor IQAC, gave a brief introduction about the seminar.Dr. B. Ramamoorthy, Principal, SLCS delivered the presidential address.The guest speakers Dr.V.K.Sivasubrsmanian Professor & Head Department of Chemistry K.L.N.College of Engineering &Technology outlined the need for Outcome Based Education and said that OBE stresses the learning process and  that  the Curriculum is designed in terms of the knowledge, skill and attitudes expected from graduates and aims to equip students for lifelong learning.

Prof.M.Murugeshwari, highlighted the key constituents of Outcome based Education, and brought out the relation between Programme Education Objectives ( assessed few years after graduation), Programme Outcomes (upon graduation) and Course Outcomes( upon course completion). CO Assessment tools for each course, PO Assessment tools for each course, Assessment of the attainment of PEOs, Assessment of the attainment of POs were detailed in the seminar. The speakers spoke about Blooms Taxonomy and they related it to OBE.

Dr. S. Theenathayalan, Associate Professor focused on Student Centric Approach in curricular design. He briefed how to evolve at a new technology to face opportunities and challenges in curricular design. Advantage, benefits, constraints and disadvantage of curricular updating were discussed in detail. The seminar was integrative and informative .Faculty of SLCS &RLIMS attended the seminar. The seminar was fruitfully sought after by the faculty of SLCS and RLIMS.

Seminar on “Introduction to Choice Based Credit System”

The college IQAC Cell organized a Seminar on Introduction to  Choice Based Credit System on 16.4.2019.Dr. S. THEENATHAYALAN, Associate Professor & Head Department of Economics, The Madura College was invited as the resource person for the seminar. Principal of SLCS, Dr. B. Ramamoorthy delivered the Presidential Address. The resource person Dr. S. Theenathayalan delivered an eloquent and comprehensive lecture on the meaning and objective of a credit system to be followed by institutions which go for NAAC Accreditation. The chief guest added that the CBCS system is essential to provide holistic education to students.  The flexibility multiple pathways, vertical mobility of  CBCS system was conversed. The interactive session also focused on UGC Guidelines on adoption of Choice Based Credit System.Faculty members of SLCS & RLIMS attended the seminar.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT: EARN WHILE LEARN PROGRAMME

Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) conducted workshop on “Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking” for +2 students at College premises on 11th, April, 2019. The Chief Guest was Mr.M.Nambi Krishnan, Training Operations Lead, HCL Technologies, Madurai.

The program was started with the Prayer Song. Mrs.K.P.Maheswari, Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. Prof.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department delivered felicitation address. Dr.B.Ramamoorthy, Principal, SLCS delivered presidential address. Dr.R.L.Ramnath, IQAC Advisor delivered special address.

The Chief Guest, Mr.M.Nambi Krishnan through his lively and interactive session created awareness on the “Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking”. He also delivered an intellectual speech about the requirements of software industries, the skills to be developed to get a job in software field. He shared about the opportunities in software field

T.Vigneshwaran, G.Divya Bharathi & K.K. Rajashree of III B.Sc CS jointly presented a presentation on the importance of the Computer learning and the Cyber Security. They explained about basics of ethical hacking and how data were stolen by demonstrating through Mobile Applications.

At the end of the workshop every participant was awarded a certificate of participation.  A vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs.S.Nirmala Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science.

Corporate Training

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized special corporate training Programme to the heritage hotel employees in the field of food safety & hygine practices on daily duties.

Mr. C.Sureshkumar, HoD has exchange the knowledge in the terms of good practices of food handling  procedures , safe working habits , food storage & purchase techniques to the employee to develop their self confidence and gives in terms of equipping staff members with the skills & techniques in various kitchen operations.

Valedictory Programme

A Cuentas Association valedictory for this academic year was conducted by the Department of Commerce on 06-03-2019. Students of all III B.Com (B&I) participated. Welcome address was given by K.Gowsiga of III B.Com, Mrs.V.Padmavathy, Head of the Department appreciated the academic achievers and also the students who participated in various co-curricular activities in the academic year 2018-2019. The Torch Bearers of the current academic year handed over their responsibilities to their juniors and Ms.K.Anjana of II B.Com delivered vote of thanks.

Green Initiative

ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai actively took part in a Green Initiative program by donating tree saplings on 05.03.2019. This activity was done in alignment with the conservation and preservation of our eco system

Farewell Programme

II & I year B.Com (B&I) students organized Farewell meet to III B.Com (B&I) Students on 02.03.2019. The programme commenced with Prayer song followed by Welcome Address delivered by Mr.M.Hariharan of II B.Com(B&I), Dr.K.Archunan, Vice-principal and Mrs.V.Padmavathy, Head of the Department conveyed their best wishes to all the outgoing students and Mr.Mukil Prabu of III B.Com(B&I) cherished his memories in SLCS. Many games were conducted by II & I year B.Com (B&I) students to entertain III year students. The programme ended with national anthem.

Short Film Making

On 26.02.2019, II nd year B.Sc. VISCOM Students have shot their short film – Film Making Project. As per their story, they have erected a simple “Emaloga set in the video studio. Our Principal Dr.P.Saravanan and Mr.M.Adhi Gopal, Head Networking Department inaugurated the shoot with Pooja.
