Alumni Interaction

On 05.09.2018, alumni, Mr.S.Selva Kumar (Batch: 2011 – 2014) working as Senior Security Officer, Indigo Airlines interacted with CS & IT students. He interacted with the studentsI B.Sc CS ‘A’ & ‘B’ his work experience. He explained about the resources and infrastructure available in our college and advised the students to utilize them effectively. He also motivated the students to do many projects and to concentrate much on studies for better living.

Mr.S.Selva Kumar motivated the students to participate in competitions conducted by various colleges to gain self confidence and also he shared his work experience in Indigo Airlines. The session gave career guidance for the students.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

As a tribute to the great teacher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, his birthday has been celebrated as Teacher’s day in our department on 5th September 2018. Students expressed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day.

Celebration was started with prayer song and A.Sethuramanathan, III B.Sc CS welcomed the gathering. Our beloved Vice Principal Mr.K.Archunan delivered presidential address by sharing his own teaching experience in various institutions. Our department coordinator Mrs.N.Anuradha shared her own experience in teaching and also she discussed the role of a responsible student. Then faculties from our department, Maths and Language department were shared their own experience.

Few students shared their thoughts about teachers. Finally students played a skit. The session came to an end with vote of thanks by S.Sankaranarayanan, III B.Sc CS.

After this session, the students were given a chance to be a teacher on that day. They taught the technical concepts to their juniors. So P.Abirami of III B.Sc CS, S.Suryanarayanan of III B.Sc CS and S.Natraj Sharma of III B.Sc IT participated as teacher by taking lessons in present semester subjects for I & II year students.

 

Teacher’s Day Celebration

The department of marine catering and hotel management has organized the teacher’s day celebration on 05.09.2018

We celebrated the day by cutting the cake and the principal Entire teaching and non teaching staffs are attended they enjoyed by cutting of cake on that day. Principal sharing their wishes to the all teachers by the way of presenting the memento to all the teaching staffs. It was a memorable day.

Totally 45 staff participated in this event.

“Go Further with Nutrition’ ” – Guest Lecture

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a guest lecture on 4-9-2018 at 4.00 pm in the seminar hall on the topic of ‘Go Further with Nutrition’ The programme commenced with Prayer followed by Welcome Address delivered by Dr. K. Amrutha Veena – The Head of the Department. Key note was delivered by Dr.K.Aruchunan – Vice  Principal of SLCS. This was followed by guest lecture by Mrs. J. C. Jeyanthi All, Chief Dietitian, Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai. The programme ended with vote of thanks delivered by Ms. D. Subhashree –  Assistant Professor and national anthem. Around 36 Students of the department of Food Science and Processing Management and Marine Catering and Hotel Management participated in the lecture.

Leadership Training Program

he department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management students are participated in the Leadership Training Program on 03.09.208 & 04.09.2018 the program was organized by the memory of the late M.T Pai, arranged by M.R.Pai Foundation, Mumbai, at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College, Madurai.

The following Points were discussed:

  • Setting & Achieving goals
  • Sharpening vital skills
  • The power of habits
  • Effective communication
  • Coming together – A beginning
  • Understanding self & others

9 students participated and they have gained the knowledge about the leadership quality.

PEER TEACHING

On 02.09.2018, As part of teacher’s day celebration Peer teaching was conducted by the Department of Commerce. II & III year students engaged the classes for their junior students, i.e. II  year B.Com students handled classes to I year B.Com students.

ODC at Marriott

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has sent 12 students for the outdoor catering (ODC) in Marriott hotel Madurai.  There are 12 students are participated in this program

In view of this we have sent the students in two batches as per the hotel requirements 21.08.2018 to 31.08.2018 and 01.09.2018 to 02.09.2018.  And they getting the knowledge in the aspect of outlet operation procedures mise en place work and many industry modern techniques

Rendering a helping hand to flood victims in Kerala

Students from the Department of BBA proved that they would definitely become ethically and socially responsible citizens of future India by engaging themselves in a noble gesture of rendering a helping hand to the flood victims of Kerala. They donated dress materials and food to the flood victims by joining hands with Radio City on 25.08.2018.

Journalism – Guest Lecture

Department of Visual communication conducted a guest lecture titled  “Organizational Structure of Press” on 24/8/18, for Ist year B.Sc Viscom. Ms Dhivya Barathi from Dinamalar gave a lecture about all the aspects of news gathering and hierarchical structure of a news organization.
