Administrative Training Programme on Internet Safety

The Nettings Association of the Department of Networking organized an Administrative Training Program for the non teaching staff members of SLCS on 25/04/2022 at Seminar hall. Mr.M.Athigopa1,HoD/Networking explained the steps to be followed to delete web history and chrome browsing history in the mobile phones. Through this session ,non teaching staff members gained a basic knowledge on how to secure mail account by adding or updating account recovery options ,how to manage passwords, protect their password from hackers and how one can limit the storage space by deleting google web-browser history and google search history.They also learnt how to handle phishing emails and avoid gratuitous situation. Totally 13 members were benefitted by this program.

PARENTS TEACHERS ASSOCIATION MEET

The Department of  Networking organized the Parent Teachers Meet through online mode on 22.04.2022 at 3.30 p.m  to the students  of Second year. The Parents interacted with the Head of the Department and course teachers. The discussions were on class Test, continuous internal assessment marks, student’s attentiveness in online classes and forthcoming end semester examination .The concept of the PTA meeting was on sharing the information with students and parents about performance in the classroom and the initiatives taken by course teachers. The Course teachers requested  the parents to motivate their children by giving ample environment for their study  to score good marks in final examination.

Life of Entrepreneurship

The Department of Networking & Career Counselling Cell jointly organized a Career Guidance program on “Life of Entrepreneurship” on 13.04.2022 for the  I and II year students. Mr.M.Athigopal, Head, Dept. of Networking introduced the Chief Guest, Mr.Hari Prasath, Thanvi Technologies, Madurai. The Resource person shared his industry experience and the current technical knowledge needed to become an Entrepreneur.  He clarified all the queries raised by the students. This session was very useful for the students.  25 students were benefitted through this career guidance program.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

On 30.03.2022, an alumni of Networking Department, Mr.CM.Kishore Ravi, Network Engineer, Gavs TechnologyChennai and Ms.M.Janani (Batch: 2016 – 2019) interacted with the students of II B.Sc Networking & I B.Sc Networking. They advised the students to complete certification courses and also insisted to prepare for the interview during the college days itself. They enlightened the students on current IT technologies like Azure, AWS and availability of job opportunities in IT & Networking domains. They enlightened the students on the skills required to become a Network administrator and also Cloud Solution Architect.Overall 27 students got benefitted and clarified their queries during this interactive session.

AWARENESS PROGRAM ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

The Internet club and Techie Quest club jointly celebrated the WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION DAY on 17th May, 2022 and organized a AWARENESS PROGRAM ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES.  Mr.S.Sugumar, II B.Sc FSPM., Student member of Internet club, delivered the welcome address. The students of Internet club and Techie quest club participated in the session. Mr.V.Deepan Chakkaravarthy, Instructor, Department of Networking addressed the gathering. In his speech, he explained the use of information technologies and their importance to stay healthy, connected, and independent on a physical, emotional, and financial level. Further, he elaborated on FOSSEE (Free/Libre and Open Source Software for Education) which helps knowledge enrichment of the student’s .The session helped the students to get aware of technologies such as Network Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics which are used in real time environment.       Totally 25 students (12 students of Internet club and 13 students of Techie quest club) were benefitted by attending the session. Ms.K.Rekshambigai of I B.Com (Hons), Student member of Techie quest club, delivered the vote of thanks. This interactive session was useful to the students.

FACE PAINTING COMPETITION REPORT

The members of Internet Club conducted the “FACE PAINTING” competition on 14.03.2022 at Drawing Hall, Department of Animation. The theme of the competition was Environment Conservation. Students from I and  II year of various departments participated in the event. The club coordinator  Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya , delivered the welcome address and announced the rules and regulations of the event. Two students participated per team. Totally 20 students participated in the event. This event helped the students to bring out their creative ideas and talents. Students portrayed the environmental issues and measures to be followed to conserve it. Finally three teams got shortlisted by the judges for awarding prizes. It was really a creative session which exhibited the artistic skills of the students.

Extension Activity -SLCS Samaj Seva “Awareness Programme on Ethical Hacking”

Mr.M.Athigopal and Mr.V.Deepan Chakkaravarthy of the Department of Networking along with five students of Networking Department conducted an Extension Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) on 09/03/2022 (Wednesday) for the benefit of the students of  Government  Higher Secondary School at Vallalpatti near Chettiyarpatti. Through this activity, the school students gained valuable information on the  topics  such as  method of identifying weaknesses in computer systems and computer networks to develop counter measures that protect the weaknesses and how to improve the security posture of an organization . The students gained  knowledge on how Ethical hackers use the same tools, tricks, and techniques that malicious hackers use, but with the permission of the authorized person . Since it was a beginners’  level program, the school students got the basic ideas of Ethical Hacking and its Applications. Totally 65 students were benefited through this extension activity

MIME COMPETITION

The members of Internet Club conducted the “MIME” competition on 09.03.2022 at seminar Hall. Students of   I and II year from various departments participated in the event. The club coordinator Ms.T.Shunmuga Priya, delivered the welcome address and announced the rules and regulations of the event. The theme of the event was “No War, Only Peace”. Totally, 11 students participated in the event. This event helped building cooperative nature among students. Students actively depicted scenes with innovative ideas and expression.  Finally two teams were awarded prizes. It was really an entertaining and informative event for the participants.

Webinar on “Cyber Forensics”

The Department of Networking through NETKINGS organized a webinar on “Cyber Forensics” on 05.03.2022.The program was started with the prayer. Ms.R.K.HariLakshmi,II Networking delivered the welcome address. Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. Dr.S.Priya, Dean, Academics, delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal introduced the chief guest Mr.S.Kabilan, Security Engineer, Invygo, Coimbatore. He enlightened students on Kali Linux operating system with execution of its commands. He explained briefly the techniques used in cyber forensics for scanning the networks and enumeration concept. Also there was a hands on session on social media hijacking.  The chief guest also explained ethical hacking tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, Aircrack-Ng and network security algorithms such as RSA, DES, and AES were also discussed. The students who participated got an exposure towards bug bounty and Catch The Flag (CTF) events, which will be helpful for their employability. Totally 27 students from I & II Networking were benefited through this webinar. Ms.P.Susmitha ,  II Networking proposed the Vote of thanks.
