“Career Opportunities in IT Industry”

Department of Networking & Career Counselling Cell jointly organized a Career Guidance Program on “Career Opportunities in IT Industry“ on 28.12.2022, for the  I & II year students. Mr. M. Athigopal, Head, Dept of Networking, introduced the Chief Guest- Mr. Udhayasuriyan, CTS, Consultant, Chennai. The resource person shared the importance of core paper like Cloud Computing using AWS, Internet of Things and Devops and shared job opportunities that are available for CS and Networking students. Totally, 47 students from Networking and 94 students from Computer Science were benefitted through this career guidance program.

“Career Opportunities in Artificial Intelligence &Machine Learning”

Department of Networking & Career Counselling Cell jointly organized a Career Guidance Program on “Career Opportunities in Artificial Intelligence &Machine Learning” on 02.01.2023 for the III year students. Mr. M. Athigopal, Head, Dept of Networking, introduced the Chief Guest, Mr.Nanuswamy, President, Maxelerator Foundation, Madurai. The resource person shared the importance of Artificial Intelligence and its applications, Machine Learning algorithms & Data Science and Analytics concept. He shared the real time applications of AI & ML. He highlighted the job opportunities in IT sector. Totally, 16 students from Networking and 51 students from Computer Science were benefitted through this career guidance program.

Administrative Training Programme on SWOT & SKILL vs WILL

The NetKings Association of the Department of Networking organized an Administrative Training Program for the Non-teaching staff members of SLCS on 10.12.2022 at Seminar hall. Mrs.N.P.Rajeswari, AP/Networking handled the session about performance of SWOT analysis and SKILL vs WILL in a successful way. Through this session, non teaching staff members were gained basic knowledge about what is SWOT analysis & how to categories the person at SKILL vs WILL. They were eagerly attend the session and learnt how to analysis the SWOT, how to apply the SWOT in a practical manner. Totally, 8 members were benefitted through this program.

HANDS-ON TRAINING ON “DATA SCIENCE USING PYTHON”

Netkings Association of Networking Department organized Hands-on Training on “Data Science Using Python” on 28.10.2022. The session started with the prayer song. Ms.A.Harshitha, I B.Sc Networking, welcomed the gathering. Inaugural address was given by our Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal, Dr. K. Archunan. Our Head of the Department, Mr. M. Athigopal, introduced the Guest, Dr. L. S. Swasthimathi, Assistant Professor, SIES College of Management Studies, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. Our Chief Guest clearly explained the concept of Data Science, its process of gathering actionable insights from raw data that involves various concepts which include statistical analysis, data analysis & modeling, machine learning algorithms, preprocessing of data, etc. and gave hands on training using Spyder IDE (Python) with a sample dataset and demonstrated how to split training and testing data with logistic regression. Totally, 26 students got benefited by this hands-on training. The Vote of thanks was given by Mr. P. Prasanth, III B. Sc Networking, and the session ended with the National Anthem.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

Department of Networking organized an Alumni interaction session for I year Networking students on 26.10.2022. Our alumnus Maheswaran (2019-2022 batch), stressed the importance of pursuing certificate courses in areas of their interest. He created awareness about Linux (OS) and the opportunities available in the IT sector and also shared his work experience based on Linux (OS) environment. In total, 37 students benefited from this alumni interaction session.

GUEST LECTURE ON CLOUD AND NETWORK SECURITY

Department of Networking conducted Guest Lecture – “Cloud and Network Security” on 11.10.2022. The session started with the prayer song. Ms. D. Andal Priyadharshini, II B.Sc Networking, welcomed the gathering. Our Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, Inaugurated the session,    Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal gave the Felicitation Address and Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, delivered the Special Address. The Head of the Department, Mr. M. Athigopal, introduced the Guest Mr. Arun Mohan, System & Network Administrator, Freelance IT Consultant, Kerala. Our Chief Guest delivered an intellectual lecture on Managing CISCO routing, Cloud Administration and Configuring Storage Server, which helped students to configure Routers and Cloud Security services. Our Students interacted during the session and had a proposal for real time configuration and cleared their queries. Totally 26 students attended the seminar and got brief information about cloud and network security.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

Department of Networking organized an alumnus interaction session for the III year Networking students on 10th October, 2022. Our alumni, Mr. Sriram (2018-2021 batch), emphasize the students to do certification courses based on networking like Redhat, CCNA, etc. He instructed the students to enhance their knowledge in Linux because of its utilization in IT sectors. He focused on how to get eccentric job opportunities available through networking techniques. Totally, 16 students got benefited by this Alumni Interaction Session.

INFOTAINMENT 2K22

Department of Networking conducted Infotainment Association Meet on 22.09.2022. It is organized by III Year B.Sc NETWORKING students. The session started with the prayer song. K.Lakshmi Priya, II B.Sc NETWORKING, welcomed the gathering. Our Principal,          Dr. R. Sujatha, inaugurated the meet with her wonderful speech, Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal and Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, gave wonderful speech for the students. The Head of the Department, Mr. M. Athigopal, introduced the Guest of Honor Mr. M. Sasikumar, NOC Engineer, Incident Management | Tata Communications Limited and Mr. S. Balamurugan Senior Analyst | HCL Technologies, Madurai. Our Chief Guest delivered an inspirational speech, which motivated the students. He highlighted the impact of working technically and shared his experience in several IT industries and also interacted with the students regarding their carrier growth. The students cleared their queries during their interaction.

The students of II & III year B.Sc. Networking conducted game events for the I Year students. The students exposed their talents through various events and got prizes. The Vote of thanks was given by Praveenkumar .T of II B.Sc Networking and the meet ended with the National Anthem.

MENTOR- MENTEE MEETING MINUTES ON 02-09-2022

On behalf of the Department of Networking, the Mentor meeting for the odd semester 2022 – 23 was held on 02.09.2022  at 12.40 PM  in the Seminar hall. During the mentor meeting the students shared their difficulties and expressed their grievances to the mentor.

The following minutes were discussed:

  • The Mentor discussed about the subjects.
  • The Mentors gave instructions to the mentees regarding attendance and proper grooming.
  • The Mentors gave information about the Mentor-Mentee activity book.
  • The Mentors guided them to surf some websites for learning multiple languages through E-resources and to enhance their typing skills.
