French Cuisine

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have organized French cuisine workshop for Lady Doak College (French department) – Madurai on 04.10.2017 at 9.30 a.m. Around 66 students & 2 faculty members from department of French have participated in the workshop. We have invited Chef . Nethaji Dasarathan , Food and beverage Director , Royal Caribbean Curise Lines , USA . Dr.P. Saravanan, Principal, SLCS. Mr. C.Sureshkumar, Head of the department gave the welcome address. The chief guest and inaugurated the function. Chef. Nethaji Dasarathan describes the origin of the French cuisine and its importance. Chief Guest demonstrated four delicious dishes and the student participants also actively participated in preparation work and they prepared two dishes to share with us. The day was wonderful for them and they gained good knowledge and got benefitted and we provided participants certificates for them and the workshop session was completed at 3.00 p.m.

WORLD TOURISM DAY 2018 – SEMINAR

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized a seminar on world tourism and its digital transformation conducted on 27/09/2018 in the seminar Hall.

The outcomes of this seminar is a unique opportunity to raise awareness among the students on the potential contribution of digital technologies to sustainable tourism developments while providing a platform for investment , partnership towards a more responsibility and inclusive tourism technologies.

WORLD TOURISM DAY – RALLY

The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management students has participated in swatcch bharath awareness rally is held on 27.09.2018 for World Tourism Day- 2018 organized by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (Madurai chamber) . More than 40       MC&HM  students took part in this programme. Carrying placard and banners, and the participants distributed pamphlets to passers by Swatcch Bharath mission initiatives

Fusion cuisine

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized one day skill development program on fusion cuisine to the final year students.

Our department head Mr.C.Sureshkumar take a session in successful manner and deliver his knowledge in the title of modern technique and etiquette of fusion cuisine.

Alumni Interaction

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management  alumni student  Mr.Vivek (2014-2017 batch ) interact our department final year  students and  he share his experience to the students in the title of current scope of shipping industry and discus about following points:

  1. Duties and responsibility of general steward
  2. Documents are required to join in ship
  3. Sign in / sign off procedure
  4. Safety drill practices
  5. Discus about contract period

Parents Teachers Meeting

The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have conduct parents teacher meeting to our department students on 08.09.2018 , The professors has explained to the parents about their progress report ,attendance , and behavior of the student in the class hours  and their extracurricular activities.

The parents also suggest increasing the student’s skill through remedial class and practical hour’s .and the parent are given their feedback in the feedback form.

Teacher’s Day Celebration

The department of marine catering and hotel management has organized the teacher’s day celebration on 05.09.2018

We celebrated the day by cutting the cake and the principal Entire teaching and non teaching staffs are attended they enjoyed by cutting of cake on that day. Principal sharing their wishes to the all teachers by the way of presenting the memento to all the teaching staffs. It was a memorable day.

Totally 45 staff participated in this event.

Leadership Training Program

he department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management students are participated in the Leadership Training Program on 03.09.208 & 04.09.2018 the program was organized by the memory of the late M.T Pai, arranged by M.R.Pai Foundation, Mumbai, at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College, Madurai.

The following Points were discussed:

  • Setting & Achieving goals
  • Sharpening vital skills
  • The power of habits
  • Effective communication
  • Coming together – A beginning
  • Understanding self & others

9 students participated and they have gained the knowledge about the leadership quality.

Leadership Training Camp

ODC at Marriott

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has sent 12 students for the outdoor catering (ODC) in Marriott hotel Madurai.  There are 12 students are participated in this program

In view of this we have sent the students in two batches as per the hotel requirements 21.08.2018 to 31.08.2018 and 01.09.2018 to 02.09.2018.  And they getting the knowledge in the aspect of outlet operation procedures mise en place work and many industry modern techniques
