FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON “DISCOVER YOUR SELF”

The IQAC & Faculty Induction Program Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Faculty Development Program on DISCOVER YOUR SELF” on 24.04.2023, 25.04.2023, 26.04.2023, 27.04.2023, 28.04.2023 & 01.05.2023 in the College premises. Mr. Vamsidhari Dasa, was the Resource persons. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Assistant Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Balarama Govinda Dasa, the Chairman of Thanga Mayil Jewelry delivered the inaugural address. The Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address.

Mr. Vamsidhari Dasa enriched the faculty members on the topics the Game of Life, Inner Self, Ultimate Genius, Manual of Life, Lasting Solutions, Real Eternal Love, The Happy Planet, True Unity in Diversity and Sublime Joy Through Sound. He also clarified the doubts regarding the topics.

The session was really an eye opener for all the faculty members. Totally, 68 faculty members participated in the FDP. Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep, Assistant Professor of MBA proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Seminar on “VETRI UNGAL KAYIL”

The IQAC, the Placement Cell & Yoga Club of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Seminar on VETRI UNGAL KAYIL” on 29.03.2023 at 11.30 am in the College premises for the welfare of the students. Mr. M. Rajakabir, Campaign Manager, P&G Gillete Safalta, Madurai, was the Resource person. Mr. Karthikeyan from I B.Sc., Computer Science, welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address. The Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan, delivered the Felicitation Address. Followed by him the Dean Academics, Dr. S. Priya, delivered the Special Address.

Mr. M. Rajakabir, demonstrated the importance of Grooming for the Professional Career and growth. He also projected a video which shows the importance of grooming. The students were also given a grooming kit from the brand Gillette. The session was really an eye opener for all the students. Totally, 262 students and 12 faculty members participated in the seminar. Mr.Tharun from I B.Sc., Networking proposed the Vote of Thanks.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON “STRESS MANAGEMENT”

The IQAC & ICT Academy Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Faculty Development Program on STRESS MANAGEMENT” on 23.03.2023, 24.03.2023 & 25.03.2023 in the College premises. Mr. K. Nirmal Kumar, Senior Manager, T & D, ICT Academy and Ms.Simi Kalakamb, Senior Trainer – Training & Development, ICT Academy were the Resource persons. Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Assistant Professor cum HoD I/C welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address. Followed by her the Dean Academics, Dr. S. Priya, Felicitated the gathering. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Assistant Coordinator, introduced the Resource Persons to the Forum.

Mr. K. Nirmal Kumar explained the range of strategies to help better to deal with stress and difficulty (adversity) in the life. The resource person insisted that managing stress can help to lead a more balanced and healthier life. He also conducted various activities to burst out the stress.

Ms. Simi Kalakamb detailed that stress is an automatic physical, mental and emotional response to a challenging event. She also explained the different types of stress management activities that one can do to make stress. They are Exercise, Utilize mindfulness, Try therapy and coaching, Time management, Spend time in nature and Eat healthily.

The session was really an eye opener for all the faculty members. Totally, 68 faculty members participated in the FDP. Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor of Animation proposed the Vote of Thanks.

 

PROFESSIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE TRAINING ON “PERSONAL INVESTMENT METHODS”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell & Placement Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Professional & Administrative Training on “Personal Investment Methods” on 10.12.2022 at 2.15 pm in the College premises for the welfare of the Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff Members. Dr. R.Sujatha, the Principal of SLCS & A Team from Bajaj Capital were the Resource Persons. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Assistant Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Dr.S.Priya, the Dean Academics graced the session through her active participation.

Dr.R.Sujatha enlightened the Staff Members by presenting and explaining about various investments. She also explained the importance of saving for future with her own experiences. The session was really an eye opener for all the students.

Followed by her, a Team from Bajaj Capital took over the session and explained about the plans which will be a helpful one for the staff members. Totally, 57 Faculty members and 11 non-teaching staff members participated in the training session. Mr.Maniraj, the Placement Officer proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Seminar on “CYBER AWARENESS”

The IQAC & Students’ Council and Welfare Committee of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Seminar on “Cyber Awareness” on 30.11.2022 at 11 am in the College premises for the welfare of the students. Mrs. Muhil, a leading Psychologist from Madurai, was the Resource person. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Assistant Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address. Followed by her the Dean Academics, Dr. S. Priya, introduced the Chief Guest to the Forum.

Mrs. Muhil, in her enlightening session, described and clearly stated the issues faced by today’s generation because of the Social Media. The Chief Guest initiated her speech with an ice breaker session which motivated the students to concentrate. She also projected some clippings how social media is manipulating & triggering the young generation. The session was really an eye opener for all the students. Totally, 262 students and 10 faculty members participated in the seminar. Dr. R. Bhagavathy Lakshmi, Assistant Professor of CS cum Students’ Council & Welfare Committee member proposed the Vote of Thanks.

23rd Graduation Day

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and R L Institute of Management Studies, Madurai, organized 23rd Convocation Day on 22nd October 2022. Dr. R. Lakshmipathy, the Honorable President, commenced the ceremony with an invocation and declared the opening of the ceremony.     Dr. R Sujatha, Principal, delivered the welcome address.

Shri. CA. T. N. Manoharan, Founder Partner Manohar Chowdhy & Associates Chartered Accountants, Chennai, as the Chief Guest, delivered the Graduation Day Address. In his speech, he mentioned that the job oriented courses offered by the college would immediately provide job to the students. He emphasized the students that curiosity towards education leads to success. He insisted on developing values like, self confidence, hardwork, perseverance and intelligence. He impressed the audience with the story of “French Revolution and the Three Cook” highlighting distinctiveness of working for wages, quality and contribution.  He enhanced on the point that, graduates should be disciplined which will help them to identify their talents and build their career. Totally, 423 candidates have been awarded with the degree.  Dr. R. Lakshmipathy, President of the college insisted the motto of the College ‘Learning for Better Living’. He reinforced that an employer looks beyond the Degree Certificate that an employee holds.

Lakshmipathy, Management Member, Dr. R Sujatha, Principal, Dr. K Archunan, Vice Principal, Dr. S Priya,           Dean – Academics, Dr. Meera, Controller of Examinations, Faculty Members, Non- Teaching Staff and parents participated with joy in the convocation ceremony.

ACADEMIC & ADMINISTRATIVE AUDIT (AAA)

The IQAC of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized Academic & Administrative Audit (AAA) for the Academic Year 2021-22 on 15.07.2022 (Friday). Major. Dr. N. Arun Nagendran, Associate Professor of Zoology, Former IQAC Coordinator, Thiagarajar College, Madurai was invited as the resource person for auditing the files.

The Audit was started by 08.50 am. The resource person visited all the departments. He audited the files and many questions were raised by the resource person to the faculty members regarding the files.

He shared many valuable suggestions and recommendations about the files maintained in the departments. He also appreciated few departments for the work and achievements done by the faculty and the students.

SEMINAR ON “QUALITY MANAGEMENT IN HEIs”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted a Seminar on “Quality Management in HEIs” on 15.07.2022. Major. Dr. N. Arun Nagendran, Associate Professor of Zoology, Former IQAC Coordinator, Thiagarajar College, Madurai, was invited as the resource person for the seminar.

IQAC Coordinator Dr. M. R. Sumathi delivered and introduced the resource person to the forum. The Principal Dr. R. Sujatha, the Vice Principal Dr. K. Archunan and the Dean – Academics Dr. S. Priya honored the session through their presence.

The resource person shared about the quality management that to be followed in the Higher Education Institutions. He insisted the members to give correct and complete data while compiling the SSR. He reiterated that the quality of the institution also lies in the grade given by the NAAC. So, high concentration and complete understanding should be given while preparing it.

The session was really an eye-opener to all the participants. Totally 36 faculty members attended the session. The IQAC Assistant Coordinator Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha proposed the Vote of Thanks.

ORIENTATION PROGRAM ON DIGILOCKER AND ACADEMIC BANK OF CREDITS

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized an Orientation Program on “Digilocker and Academic Bank of Credits” on 26.05.2022. Dr. M. R. Sumathi, IQAC Coordinator and Mr. N. Ramesh, Assistant professor cum NAD Coordinator oriented the students and faculty members about the importance and need of the Digilocker and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).

Dr. M. R. Sumathi, IQAC Coordinator, clearly stated and oriented about what is Digilocker? Benefits of Digilocker and how does Digilocker works? The students and faculty members were able to understand the concept of Digilocker through the detailed Presentation.

Mr. N. Ramesh, Assistant Professor cum NAD Coordinator, oriented the participants about what is Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and what is the importance of registering in the ABC? He also stated about the registration process of ABC. Finally the participants were able to understand the basic concept of ABC. He also informed the students that as an initiative of NAD Cell, the College will make arrangements of registering in the ABC.

Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal delivered the Presidential Address in the orientation program. Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics delivered the Felicitation address. Mrs. K. P. Maheswari, Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) cum Assistant Professor of Computer Science delivered the Welcome address. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) cum Assistant Professor of English introduced the Resource Persons and she finally proposed the Vote of Thanks. Totally 314 students and 21 faculty members participated and got benefitted through the orientation program.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON ROLE OF TEACHERS IN ENHANCING INSTITUTIONAL EXCELLENCE: NEP PRESPECTIVE

         Enlightening the teachers towards the NEP perspective with essential skills has become a mandatory one in all the higher education institution. Having this in mind, the IQAC of SLCS has planned and organized a Professional Development Program for the faculty members on the topic “Role of Teachers in Enhancing Institutional Excellence: Essential Skills for 21st Century Educators” on 23.04.2022.

Dr. A. Jonas Richard, Professor & Head PG & Research Department of Social Work from Kirstu Jayanti College, Bengaluru was invited as the Resource Person. Mrs. V. Padmavathy, HoD of Commerce – Banking & Insurance welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha, the Principal delivered the Presidential Address. The IQAC Assistant Coordinator Mrs. K. P. Maheswari, Asst. Prof of Computer Science introduced the Chief Guest in the forum.

Dr. A. Jonas Richard discussed on the topic “Essential Skills for 21st Century Educators”. It was a lively session. Many concepts such as knowing each other, making our mindsets as students think, standing on students’ shoes and considering the students as our children. All the above mentioned key points were explained through Ice-Breakers.

The program wound up with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. N. Anuradha, HoD, Computer Science department. Totally 53 Faculty Members participated actively and enjoyed the program.
