Department of Computer science and Information technology conducted TechTalk event on 3, August 2018 at MBA Seminar Hall. The TechTalk event was started with a devotional prayer song. T.Kaleeswaran of III B.Sc IT had delivered the welcome speech. K.J.Venkatesh of III B.Sc IT & C.Sowmiya of II B.Sc CS(SSS) had compered for the entire section. And the session continued with the power point presentation by the students, S.Sankara Narayanan and J.Sriram about  “Holo lens”, C.Shanmuga Priya and P.Archana about “Chat bot” and then R.Srivajan and R.Joan Joseph Rexith on “Optogenetics”. The session came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by N.Vignesh of  II B.Sc CS(SSS).

On 03.08.2018 alumni, Mrs.V.Jeyaletchumi (Batch: 2007 – 2010) interacted with CS & IT students. She shared her experience as a student and faculty in SLCS. She explained about the resource availability and utilization for the student community. She also motivated the students to do many projects and to concentrate much on studies for better living.

Mrs.V.Jeyaletchumi enlightens the students about the opportunities for security systems and its scope in industries and other sectors. The session was good career guidance for the students.

Department of Computer Science and Information Technology conducts Peer Teaching for students. In this method , senior student instructs their junior student in academics. Priety Leka M , II B.Sc CS(SSS) mentee of Mrs.Nirmala Devi S  had given her peer teaching  on 2, August 2018 at I B.Sc CS(SSS) class room(S4) . And the session was continued with the board presentation in the topic of Interrupt in Comp Organizations to I year B.Sc (SSS) students. The session came to an end with query section.

On behalf of Department of CS & IT an ICE BREAKING SESSION was organized to welcome the freshers on 27^th July 2018. The presidential address was delivered by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan followed by our Coordinator Mrs.N.Anuradha delivered the felicitation address. G.Divya Bharathi & K.K. Rajasree of III B.Sc CS had given awareness about online certification websites through their PPT. Then the session was continued with the games conducted by II year & III year students to I years. Few students exhibited their talents like playing keyboards, singing songs and mimicry. At the end of the session seniors had given a gift to their juniors as a token of memory.

And the session was continued with the board presentation in the topic of Arrays in Programming in C. The session came to an end with query section.

On behalf of the Department of CS & IT, an introductory mentor meeting for the odd semester 2018 – 19 was commenced on 20.07.2018 at different venues like S4, S5, G19, Academic Lab 1, and Academic Lab 2. All five mentors in our department met their mentees separately in above mentioned venues by 12.35 PM. During this meet, mentors conveyed the importance of mentor-mentee meeting to all the first year students. Students shared their grievances and personal problems to their mentors.All the mentors encouraged their mentees to do online certification courses.

On behalf of Department of CS & IT guest lecture program have been organized on 20^th of July 2018 for I B.Sc CS (SSS) ‘A’ & ‘B’ and II B.Sc CS (SSS) students. The session was started with the introductory address about the resource person by our department Coordinator Mrs.N.Anuradha. The resource person Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Pandurangan, Founder/CEO of Doorhunt.com, Digital Manager and Certified ScrumMaster advised the students to study the theory concepts by relating with any real time examples. Also he advised the students to do a mini project apart from academic projects, at the end of each semester with the help of software they studied, it makes them to have a deep knowledge in that software. He advised the students to gain and update knowledge in recent trends in computer science like Mobile Apps, IoT and BigData apart from their curriculum.  The session was came to an end with the job opportunities in software industries. Also he suggested few websites for earning while the students are learning.

The two days training workshop on Search Engine Optimization took place on 19^th & 20^th of July 2018 for II B.Sc CS (SSS), III B.Sc CS and III B.Sc IT students. The session was started with the welcome address by J.Sriram,  III B.Sc CS and the presidential address was delivered by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. Then our Coordinator delivered felicitation & introductory address about the resource person. The resource person of this session Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Pandurangan, Founder/CEO of Doorhunt.com, Digital Manager and Certified ScrumMaster and Mr.Shalia, Co-Trainer shared the art and science of publishing and marketing information that ranks well in search engines like Google, Yahoo! Search, and Microsoft Bing. Students have gained the knowledge of digital marketing through optimizing the search engine for their published contents in internet. Also trainer trained the students with practical session about optimizing their content on internet. During second day of the session trainer asked the students to bring any two own videos which are not uploaded in YouTube, WhatsApp or any other social media for demonstration. Through this practical cession students came to know the importance of search engine optimization. The session came to an end with the job opportunities in SEO. Also he referred few websites for earning while the students are learning. Totally 36 students got benefited through this program.

Department of CS & IT organized FDP on 20^th July 2018 for faculty members. The chief guest Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Pandurangan, Founder/CEO of Doorhunt.com, Digital Manager and Certified ScrumMaster explained about how to make students employable by giving practical assignments during every semester end. Also he motivated the faculties to get projects from companies and guide the students to do it while they are learning. This kind of learning will made the students more employable. As a CEO of a company he too ready to give small projects to our faculties. He asked the faculty members to make the students to write algorithm & draw flowchart to understand the processing flow. It will be very helpful during their project development.

On behalf of Department of Computer Science & Information Technology Career Guidance took place on 19^th of July 2018 for III B.Sc CS and III B.Sc IT students at Communication Lab. The session was started with the welcome address by J.Sriram, III B.Sc CS and the presidential address was delivered by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. Then our Coordinator delivered felicitation & introductory address about the resource person. The resource person of this session Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Pandurangan, Founder/CEO of Doorhunt.com, Digital Manager and Certified ScrumMaster and Mr.Shalia, Co-Trainer shared the recent trends in IT industry. Also they shared their own company job openings and projects they are currently doing. At the end of the session the trainer shared the job opportunities in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which is currently blooming domain in IT industry. Also he referred few websites for earning while the students are learning. And he assured that he will provide internship training for the final year students in his company. Finally session came to an end with vote of thanks by J.Rishwan Ahamed, III B.Sc IT.
