Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking – Workshop

The Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) conducted a workshop on “Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking” for +2 students in the College premises on 12, May, 2018.

The Chief Guest was Prof.S.Prasanna, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Thiyagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.

The program started with the Prayer Song. Prof.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering. Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS delivered the felicitation address.

The Chief Guest, Prof.S.Prasanna through his lively and interactive session created awareness on “Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking”.

Mr.T.Vigneshwaran & Mr.A.Gowtham Shankar, III B.Sc(CS) jointly delivered a Presentation on the Importance of Computer Learning and Cyber Security. They explained Ethical Hacking and Internet of Things (IOT) with real time examples. They also demonstrated about game development, which eagerly attracted all participants.

Mr.Ashok and Mr.Rajamanickam, III B.Sc(CS) demonstrated Ethical Hacking Tools using Kali Linux. They also demonstrated hacking using the android OS.

Through these demonstration and presentation the participants got an idea about Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security and even got trained to hack android phones and Facebook.

Mrs.K.P.Maheswari, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science explained the course and syllabus of the Computer Science (Security System Specialization) department. This session was an interactive session between the professor and parents who participated in the workshop.

The workshop came to the end with a feedback session, where two students among the participants shared their feedback and a parent came voluntarily to share his feedback about the workshop and the course “Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security”.

At the end of the workshop every participant was awarded a Certificate of Participation along with an admission application for the course B.Sc Computer Science (Security System Specialization).

Two studious participants were awarded with mementos by the III year students who were in turn motivated by the act of giving mementos.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mrs.S.Nirmala Devi, Assistant professor, Department of Computer Science. The programme was successfully completed.

Technofest – Association Meet

The Department of Computer Science and  Information Technology had organized the Technofest, the meeting to exhibit the technical skills of the students.

Honorable Head of the Department, Mrs. N. Anuradha, Department of Computer Science delivered her felicitation address.

Students from both first and second year presented the papers titled as LiFi – Technology, Dude – the network monitor and etc. and demonstrated the tools like SQL Map, Network Map, Predator and Nessus – the vulnerability scanner.

The new secretaries  , Mr. S Sahosan [16215] II B.Sc CS and Mr. M. Muthu Sriram [16610] II B.Sc IT were selected by the department staff.

Mentor Meeting

As per the time table, an introductory mentor meeting for the even semester 2017 – 18 was commenced on 16.11.2017 at Seminar Hall by 11.10 AM. During this meet, all mentors asked about grievances from their mentees. Also the mentors informed the students that, there will be a mentor meeting every month 3rd Thursday between 11.10 AM to 12.05 PM (Third hour). So students can share their grievances and various personal problems faced by them with their mentors.

Gopalan, CEO, Syndicate Incorp, Madurai visited our prestigious educational institution on 11 / 11 / 2017 [Saturday].  Communicated with students regarding the carrier opportunities on computer science and its related fields. His prime point was on the artificial intelligence and supervised, unsupervised learning algorithms.

Outcome

On that day itself he conducted the entry level internship come placement eligibility test to the III B.Sc. Computer Science & III B.Sc Information Technology students. As a result ten (10) students were selected for internship training.

 

 

 

 

 

Alumnus Interaction

Mr.K.Aravind Kumar (Cell No: 9677881422) , an alumnus of 2009-2012 B.Sc(Computer Science) Batch, who is presently working as a Assistant Manager in Sales, Vodafone Cellular, Madurai, visited our department  and had a interaction with current  II-B.Sc(IT) & II-B.Sc(CS) [2016-2019 Batch].

He asked the students to update themselves in recent technology along with the academic syllabus.

He insisted the students, that they should be energetic, dynamic and active during class hours and never waste the precious time.

He said the value added programs will help them in right way and give more chances for their placements.

He also listed few software companies where they can get their internship in future.

An orientation program was conducted on behalf of Computer Science and Information Technology on 1-11-2017. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HOD, Department of Computer Science and IT welcome the gathering and instructed the following things to the student of all first years, second years and third years of our department.

MOCK INTERVIEW

As a placement initiative on 20.09.2017, Mrs. N.Anuradha, Coordinator and Mrs.N.Nirmala Devi, Internship In-charge, Dept. of CS interacted with III B.Sc CS students to give awareness in multiple career opportunities in IT industry.

They guided students to identify their interests and advised them to work on it. They also advised them to develop projects during their vacation time to improve their skills. They instructed students to prepare resume and submit it to the department as softcopy and hardcopy. The session was informative and enriching for students. A mock interview also conducted for all III B.Sc CS & III B.Sc IT students.

Students Participation in FStival’17

Fifteen students from I, II and III B.Sc., Computer Science and the Assistant Professor Mr. S.Vignesh M.E., attended the Open Source Festival (FStival’17 – Software Freedom Day – 2017) which was conducted to celebrate the International Software Freedom Day by Thiagrajar College of Engineering, Madurai on 09/09/2017.

Career Counselling on “Today’s Trend in software industry”

Mr.Karthikeyan , Managing Director of ElintSys, gave importance tips to the students regarding the today’s trend in software industry. He describe about his company and said  his clients are in three countries like Japan, America and Germany.

            In Japan and Germany he has clients who deal software for automobile fields and in America he has the client who deals software for hospital management fields.

            All 10th, 12th, Diploma, Engineering, UG and PG students are learning programming languages without knowing its difference, He said that Analytical Skill is the main skill required for every student to be get placed. He too added that Diploma Student will think much smarter when compared other five.

                    He asked the expected salary to the mob and said the students can get good salary if they have good analytical skill and knowledge in areas such as big data, artificial intelligence and robotics etc. He too added that the x-president of Infosys told that in 2025 there will be no name called software developer and every work of software developers will be replaced by artificial machine coding.

     Big data, Artificial Intelligence will play a vital role all over the world in future. He too informed the student to know about SAP (System Application Product) a world largest software company and their strategies that improves the business of various companies in the world wide.
