CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME ON “OPPORTUNITIES IN THE VISUAL EFFECTS & IMPORTANCE OF MATCH MOVE IN THE INDUSTRY”

The Department of Animation organized a Career Guidance Programme on “Opportunities in the Visual Effects & Importance of Match Move in the Industry”through Google Meet on 08.05.2021, Saturday between 02.00 PM and 04.00 PM. The Programme commenced with the introduction given by Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor and the Welcome address was delivered by Mr.S.Praveen Kumar, Instructor of the department. The Resource person for the event was Mr. Mithun, 3D Match Move Artist & Trainer, Phantom FX, Chennai. He is a prominent Alumnus of the department (2012-2015 Batch), very keen to create awareness about VFX among the students.  He gave a demonstration and motivated the students by describing the pipeline of the film production, trends & techniques, the numerous openings and diverse career opportunities available in the Industry. He shared his experience and inspired students through the Discussion forum. The event helped the students to enrich and enhance their knowledge. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms.I.Swetha of II Animation.

Totally 71 students were benefitted from this Programme.

Workshop on Stop Motion Animation

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation department organized a One Day Stop Motion workshop for the Students of Animation Department on 29.03.2021 through Google Meet. The Workshop commenced with a welcome address by Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Asst. Prof., Department of Animation. The workshop provided the students with the much-needed industrial exposure and they learnt about the tips and tricks during the Stop Motion Animation. The trainer of the workshop is Mr.S.Praveen Kumar, Instructor, Department of Animation. He trained the students with the Clay Materials and also explained how to capture the Motions and the software used. The Students were very positive with the workshop; they felt workshops like this will give them the right foundation and insight into future ventures and all the students gave a positive feedback. Totally 60 students participated in the workshop.

WORKSHOP ON “ANITALK ON TEXTURING”

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a one day Workshop on “Anitalk on Texturing” on 20.03.2021 between 02.30 P.M. – 05.00 P.M. at Animation Lab-III. Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor, introduced the resource person, Mr. Krishna Babu, Texturing Supervisor, Bangalore. The key objectives of this workshop was to enlighten the students about the knowledge of Texturing and its importance, wrapping up the UV in 3D Model, Process of Painting, and essential software required in the industry. He also explained the pipeline of the texturing process and showed some examples to the students.

The Students showed their involvement towards the session by raising queries which were clarified by the resource person. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms.I.Swetha of II year Animation. The Department Faculty members Mr.M.Purushothaman, Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim and Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar made all the arrangements for this workshop. 45 students benefitted through this workshop.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME ON “OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FIELD OF ADVERTISING AND DIGITAL MARKETING”

The first year students of Animation department had the opportunity to partake in a Career Guidance Programme on “Opportunities in the Field of Advertising and Digital Marketing” held in the Animation Department Lab on 19.03.2021. The Alumni of the department (2017-2020 Batch), were keen to create awareness among the students about the field of Advertising Industry. The Special invitees for the event were Ms. Uma, Client Service, 2ADPRO, Chennai and Ms. Sowmiya, Graphic Designer,Cbra Pvt. Ltd,Madurai. Both of them motivated all the fresh concentrations by conferring the plenty openings and diverse professional opportunities available in the Industry. They shared their knowledge and encouraged the students towards Placements after enumerating the optimistic points involved with it.The occasion made awareness and improved the knowledge of the students.

Totally 30 students took part in this programme.

WORKSHOP ON PROPS MODELING IN AUTODESK MAYA

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a one day Workshop on “Props Modeling in Autodesk Maya” on 16.03.2021 between 10.00A.M. – 01.30 P.M. at Animation Lab-I. The Head i/c cum Assistant Professor of the Department, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar welcomed the gathering. The Resource person for this workshop was Mr. Prabhu, CG Artist, Tata Elxsi, Bangalore. The primary objective of this workshop was to educate the students about the essentials of working in 3D (basics of creating, embellishing and animating 3D scenes) using the features and tools of MAYA software. A basic demonstration of 3d Basic Prop Model, techniques and parameters required in the industry were explained by the Resource person.

The programme ended fruitfully with a Hands-on Training session. The Department Faculty members Mr.M.Purushothaman, Mr.M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim and Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar made all the arrangements for this workshop.
45 students benefitted through this workshop.

ART & MEDIA CLUB – FACE PAINTING COMPETITION

The Art & Media club organized a Face Painting Competition on 11.03.2021 at Animation Drawing Hall. The students of SLCS had a chance to participate in the “Face Painting Competition” in the Drawing Hall held on 11.03.2021. Mr. Deepan Chakravarthy, Assistant Professor, Department of Networking invited as the Judge of the Competition. The topic was “Preserve Nature”. Colorful faces which were beyond recognition were a delight for the students and teachers alike. One could hear peals of laughter even though the message that the student teams tried to give were serious in nature. 14 students from all the departments participated in the competition and showed their creativity using the face as their canvas.

ART & MEDIA CLUB – POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

The Art & Media Club, organized a “Poster Making Competition” in the Animation Department Lab held on 10.03.2021. The main objective of the competition was to ignite the fire of imagination and creativity in the students. The theme of the competition was ‘Save Environment’ or ‘Our Mother Earth’. Students were asked to express their ideas through paintings and sketches. The young learners displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters Students of all the departments participated in the competition with immense zeal and enthusiasm and made beautiful posters which gave the message of saving our mother Earth and providing a greener environment to our future generations. It was a great opportunity to watch these young minds creating and displaying their ideas on paper. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Around 17 students took part in this programme. The competition provided a platform for their creative expression.

ART & MEDIA CLUB – DRAWING COMPETITION

“Art connects what words cannot”. Keeping the same ideal at the forefront, as a part of the activity of Art & Media Club, the students of SLCS had an opportunity to participate in the “Drawing Competition” in the Animation Department Lab held on 09.03.2021. The students created magnificent sketches on paper with the Black & White Colors. The topic was related to the History & Heritage of our Country, where students could learn and engage in skillful learning through the medium of Art. All the Students participated with great enthusiasm, zest and exhibited their creativity. Around 83 students took part in this programme. The competition provided a platform for their creative expression. 

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME ON “AWARENESS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PACKAGING INDUSTRY”

A Career Guidance Programme on “Awareness and Opportunities in the  Packaging Industry” was organized for the first year students of batch 2020-23 on 03.03.2021 in the Animation Lab-I. The Guests of Honor for this event were Mr. Aswin, Managing Director & Mr. Purushoth, Design Expert from Shapers Studios, The Yellowbag Foundation, Madurai. Mr. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Animation welcomed the guests and thanked them for spending time with the students of the college. They emphasized the fact that career decision is one of the significant decisions in one’s life and therefore it must not be taken under the compulsion of parents or peer pressure. They motivated the students to always follow their passion.They spoke about the path of entrepreneurship, the qualities of an entrepreneur and how they cannot be learnt but cultivated over time. The programme helped the students acquired a better understanding of the opportunities in the Packaging Industry.

Totally 30 students benefitted from this programme.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME ON “CURRENT TRENDS AND TECHNOLOGICAL UPDATES IN THE INDUSTRY”

The first year students of Animation department had the opportunity to partake in a Career Guidance Programme on “Current Trends and Technological Updates in the Industry” on held in the Animation Department Lab on 19.02.2021. The guests, alumni of the department (2017-2020 Batch), were enthusiastic to create awareness amongst the students. The Special invitees for the event were Mr. Karthikeyan, CG Artist, Octalion Media, Bangalore and Mr. Gurubaran, Freelance Artist, Chennai. Both of them inspired all the young minds by discussing the ample opportunities and varied career options available in the Animation Industry. They shared their experience and encouraged the students towards Internships after enumerating the positive points involved with it. They also spoke about the challenges awaiting them after they graduate.The event created awareness to and enriched the knowledge of the young, aspiring students.
