On 07.10.2022, ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized a factory visit to Patwari Bakers – A Unit of Parle G Industries at Kappalur, Madurai. The purpose of this visit is to learn the process of Baking, Confectionary and Production of Biscuits. The process of manufacturing biscuits was briefed by the shift supervisor of Parle G Company. Students learnt in detail on the various steps involved in manufacturing biscuits and had a great learning experience on baking process. Totally, 53 students from I BBA were benefited by this factory visit.
Workshop on “Basis of SPSS Package” on 07.10.2022
Dr. Kumaran Thayumanavan, HOD, Department of BBA, conducted a Workshop for final year MBA students of Fatima College, Madurai, on “Basis of SPSS Package” on 07.10.2022. The objective of this workshop is to provide intensive training on the everyday use of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software for data analysis. The session began with the introduction on the types of data and scales of measurement. The workshop covered the topics like, an introduction on measures of central tendency, tests of normality, calculating correlation, formulation of hypothesis, application of one-way ANOVA, chi-Square test. The session ended with a brief discussion on Regression and Correlation. The students of Fatima College eagerly participated and felt that the workshop is very effective and interactive. A total of 87 students participated and got benefited through this Workshop.
Campus to Corporate Connect with Tata Elxsi-Bangalore Professional Training Programme on “Recent Trends in Digital Technologies”
Department of Animation organized a Professional Training Programme on “Recent Trends in Digital Technologies” (A Campus to Corporate Connect with Tata Elxsi) on 07.10.2022 at 10.00a.m in theBoard Room of our college premises.
Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering. Mr.Venkatrakrishnan, Head of Production and Mr. SaravananRangaswamy, Producer from Tata Elxsi, Bangalore,acted as the chief guestsfor the event.
They explained the faculty members that the advancements of digital technologies in recent trends have opened doors to thevarious possibilities for the tech-immigrant generation to inculcate the latest trends in the market, among young minds that are tech-native (born in the digital era).The taste and preference of audience keep changing in the modern, fast-paced world. As a result, there is an immense competition among business to develop innovative ideas and strategies to lure customers to their product/service.The tremendous changes in the world today also lead to innovation in the world of animation. One cannot expect to get desired results by publishing the same old style of animated videos repeatedly. To give what the market wantsone need to be aware of the latest trends& techniques.Cisco predicts that the internet will surpass 1 million minutes of video each second by 2022.Media digitalization began several decades earlier and over the past 2 decades, when internetaccess has entered, every home and every palm has a very quick and efficient forum. The animation trends are always changing, which is the reason one need to be aware of the market, so that the academicians can prepare the students for the industrial needs.
The programme concluded fruitfully and totally 6 faculty members were benefitted through this event.
Fresher’s Day Celebration – 2022-23
The Department of Commerce (Hon’s) ACCA celebrated the “Fresher’s Party” on 06.10.2022. The fresher’s day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. The celebration started at 2.00 PM at the Seminar Hall. The freshers were formally welcomed into the ACCA Family. The jury and other guests of honour were also introduced. Event started with a self introduction of 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year students. Everyone was impressive in their own way. Later on, the fun team led by 3rd year and 2nd year students took over the stage in their funny way of attracting the audience. After that, an excellent dance performance was given by 1st years. The senior students conducted games for the freshers, which is a real fun ever in college days. After completion of games seniors warmly welcomed our faculty members and distributed sweets. Finally, all the freshers were called upon to the stage by seniors to give a small gifts and sweets to remember the day.
Industrial visit to V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust, Thoothukudi
Industrial visit is a vital part of the curriculum. It helps to bridge the gap between the classroom learning and the real world. The visit also provides first-hand knowledge on the organizational structures and modes of operation in V.O.Chidambaranar Port, Thoothukudi.
The Pinnacle Association of Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized an Industrial visit to V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Thoothukudi on 06.10.2022 (Thursday). The visit was organized to make students explore the day to day activities of the port and to explore the area of auditing in export and import business. The students got an opportunity to interact with international port authorities.
Totally, 47 students and 2 faculty members participated in the event and got benefitted. The visit helped us with a distinct experience on the contribution of ports in Industrial development.
Department Association Inauguration Ceremony 2022-23
The Oath ceremony of the Royal Charter Association of Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA was pure success. The event took place at the SLCS Seminar Hall ON 06.10.2022 at 2.30pm. The event started with the prayer songs. Head Incharge of the Department Dr. D.Selvaraj and Assistant Professor Mr. A.Raja addressed the gathering. Student of 3rd year Ms. K.Durka Devi was nominated as ‘President’, 2nd year Ms. M.Subhashree as ‘Vice President’ and 1st year Mr. S.Vignesh as ‘Member Secretary’ from the department of B.Com. (Honours) ACCA from the voting was done through Google forms. Elected members are read their roles and responsibilities. The event was concluded with the national anthem. Totally, 52 students participated in this association meet.
Social Engineering
The Techie Quest Club of Computer Science department conducted a seminar on the topic-“Social Engineering” on 05.10.2022 at F40. Social Engineering attacks like phishing were illustrated to the students and also precaution steps were taught.Phishing is a type of internet scam in which user’s private information is stolen and used for criminal activity.So, the steps to secure their data were taught to students during this session.Students from various departmentswere participated in the program effectively. Totally, 25 students got benefitted through this club activity.
Session on “Launch of 5G Services in India by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Ji.”
The Ministry of Education organized a Session on “Launch of 5G Services in India by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Ji” on 01. 10. 2022. The program was organized in our college by SLCS – Institution’s Innovation Council as live stream through YOUTUBE Platform. The 5G Launch program was held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Our Prime Minister introduced 5G services in India, and conveyed that the technology will be available and accessible to all. He also said that 3 major services such as Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone demonstrated the potential benefits of 5G services usage in linking better opportunities in sectors of education, agriculture, cyber security and disaster management. He also informed that 5 G services is a greater push for Atmanirbhar Bharat. Totally, 175 students and 10 Faculty Members from various departments eagerly participated in the program.
One Week International Level Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Advanced Trends in Education System”
A session on “Advanced Trends in Education System” was organized by Annamacharya PG College of Computer Studies, Rajampet, Andhra Pradesh, on 27.09.2022 towards One Week International Level Virtual Faculty Development Programme. Dr. Kumaran Thayumanavan, HoD, Department of BBA, was the resource person. He explained that Innovation and Creativity is crucial to the success of business. He further explained that creativity is the ability to produce new and unique ideas; innovation is the execution of the creative ideas and when properly fostered, leads to success. He initiated the participants to implement innovations which can solve day-to-day problems. The session was interactive and the participants showed keen interest on the topic. Totally, 49 faculties participated and benefited from this Virtual FDP.
Value Added Course on “Fruit and Vegetable Processing and Preservation”
Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Value added course on “Fruit and Vegetable Processing and Preservation” from 22.09.2022 to 27.09.2022 at SLCS Galley. This course was presented to the students which included theoretical and hands-on-training programs with manufacturing aspects. Mr. M. Mariappan, Director, Senior Food Processing Consultant, Manoj Consultancy served as the trainer for this value addition program. He began the activity with an elaborate explanation of the jam, jellies, ketchup, tutyfruity and different varieties of fruit squashes and different varieties of vegetable pickle preparations. At the end of the day, students gathered an appreciable level of practical knowledge on processing and preservation techniques with utmost satisfaction. Totally, 36 (I,II &III year) students from FSPM eagerly participated in this program.
