SLCS- Samaaj Seva – an outreach Activity on- “An awareness program on the Impact of Traditional Food Culture and donating food to the Rural Women”

          The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized, (SLCS-Samaaj Seva), an outreach activity on “An awareness program on the Impact of Traditional Food Culture and donating food to the Rural Women” at Mallankinaru, Virdhunagar Dist. on 17.5.22. Three Marine catering and Hotel Management department faculty members and 15 students visited the Place. Mr.K.Perumal Kannan, Asst.Professor delivered a speech in which he said that Food is the linchpin of society and it creates a connection between our belief, ethnicity, individual cultures and our cultural heritage.  On a larger scale most people realize that food is not just a part of the culture it can reflect our cultural values and also explains that traditional food is definitely tastier than other healthy food. Many of the traditional foods have fewer calories and helpful for weight control and it has less saturated fat, therefore, it is much better for the heart. Many essential oils and vitamins are present only in the traditional food. The food packets prepared by our students were distributed to 70 rural women in the village. At the end of the Program the rural community have appreciated the efforts made by the students and the coordinator.

Industrial Visit to Hyderabad

Department of Animation Organized an Industrial visit to Hyderabad from 13th to 17thMay 2022 (5 days) for the II year B.Sc., Animation students. Totally 26 students accompanied by Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head (i/c) cum Asst. Prof., Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof., and Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha, Asst. Prof.

On Day 1, First session of Sightseeing started from Birla Mandir and Salarjung Museum then secon session in Snow world and Buddha Purnima on Husain Sagar Lake. On Day 2, the whole day for enrichment at Ramoji Film City; students were exposed to Art production in Cinema. On Day 3, we had a visit to Golconda fort and Charminar in the morning, Mecca Masjid in the afternoon. “Seeing is the best way of learning”, students learned many things and enjoyed well during this trip.

Alumni Interaction

The NetKings Association of the Department of Networking  organized an Alumni Association Meet on 16/5/2022 at Linux Lab.The alumni meet is to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements in their chosen field .The Alumni  named Mr.Navaneeth Kumar and Mr.Krishnamoorthy ,Business Development Manager of  Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corp were welcomed by Mr.M.Athigopal, HoD/Networking. During  the meet, the alumni shared with our students their experience in the outside world, which they faced after stepping out of the institution.

During the interaction session the alumni discussed on:

  • the current trends in technology and certifications in the industry.
  • their personal experiences in the development of open source software.
  • online certifications of various courses and employment opportunity based on skills
  • how to start new business.

They  interacted with the students and gave career guidance regarding higher studies , placements and answered questions of students regarding courses, they should take during their regular semesters.

After the interaction with our students, they volunteered themselves to help the fellow students regarding Internships, Placements, Guest lectures & Workshops. The meet also created a platform to identify the college’s most distinguished alumni. Totally 10 students were benefitted by this meeting

Extension activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – Awareness on Road Safety

ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity, (SLCS Samaaj Seva) “Awareness on road safety” at Eliyarpatti Toll Gate, Madurai on 14.05.2022. This activity was done on the account of recognizing Global Road Safety week. The students created awareness by carrying placards.  Two wheeler and four wheeler riders were gently counseled and advised on the advantages and importance of road safety. Transportation with safety and precautionary measures are an integral part of logistics. 15 students from I BBA participated in this extension activity along with Dr.B.Meenakshi Sundaram, AP – BBA.

Educational Tour to Munnar and Cochin

The HEN, an Association of Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management, organized an industrial visit to Munnar and Cochin for two days from 13.5.2022 to 14.5.22. 56 students from I and II year MC&HM and Five faculty members participated in it. The Students visited various places in Munnar such as Rose garden, Mattupetty Dam, Top Station, Photo point, Attukkadu falls on 13/05/202 and the next day the Students visited various places in Cochin like LuLu Mall,Kerala Kathakali Centre, Chottanikkara Temple and Kerala Folklore Museum. Through this educational tour the students gained experiential learning which helped them to understand the History, art and culture of the people, food habits, and social background of the local people in Kerala state. In this trip students built closer bonds with their classmates, experienced new environments and enjoyed the day away from the classroom.

Extension Activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on “Art from Waste”

FAGAS, an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) through art from waste for 6-16 Years old  children at Madurai Seva Sangam, on 14.05.2022.  Twenty five students of I and II Year FSPM actively participated and one of our first year student train the children regarding pencil art and gift article from dried leaves. Finally our students organize an cultural program to entertain for those children in orphanage and they shared their happiness with utmost satisfaction.

SLCS Out reach Programme -“ Traffic Awareness ”

SLCS SamaajSeva – an outreach activity on “The Traffic Awareness” was organised by the “Lakshya”, the Department Association of MBA Program on 14th May 2022 at 10.30 am in Thiruparangundram – to create awareness on “Traffic Rules”. 28 first year MBA students organised this activity under the guidance of Dr S Sekar. Totally25 people from Thiruparangundram got benefitted through this SLCS SamaajSeva.

Administrative training program on “Dietary Approaches to Manage Stress”

FAGAS, an Association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management, organized an Administrative training program on “Dietary Approaches to Manage Stress” on 13.05.2022 at the Seminar Hall. Eleven members of Non Teaching Staff eagerly participated in this program. Dr.S.Geethanjali was the trainer for this administrative training program. She trained the non teaching staff on the theoretical aspects as well as the practical knowledge in the field of food innovations. This program mainly focused on how to manage the stress using diet The  staff members actively participated in this training session with utmost satisfaction.

Workshop on “Application in Food Industry for Innovation”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Workshop on  “Application in Food Industry for Innovation ”  13.05.2022 at Seminar Hall. Totally 25 students(Thirteen I year students and 12 II year) students from FS &PM eagerly participated in this program.. Dr.S.Geethanjali was the trainer for this workshop and focus to enhance the theoretical knowledge in the field innovation in food industry. The trainer spoke about the various applications and it’s in our daily life like smart farming, smart office management as well as smart home management in current trends .At the end of the session the students gathered an appreciable level of knowledge about the different techniques career opportunities in food   industries with utmost satisfaction.

Hospitality Education Network Association Meeting

           On 11.5.22, the Hospitality Education Network (HEN), an Association of Marine Catering and Hotel Management, organized a meeting to discuss the plan of action for conducting various activities in the month of May, 2022. 32 Association members have participated in the program. The program began with a prayer song.  Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the department, delivered a keynote address. Mr. Prabhu.T, President of the Association, presented the forthcoming activity in the meeting, and discussed about Budget proposal and finalising the agenda. Mr. R.Blesson delivered vote of thanks at the end of the program.
