SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – AWARENESS ON TOMATO FLU

Hebert William Henrich Association of Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized SLCS SAMAAJSEVA – an extension activity on “AWARENESS ON TOMATO FLU” on 06/08/2022. A Student from II year FIS, A. Matheswaran, conducted the activity. He clarified to the public that Tomato flu is an infectious viral disease that occurs due to intestinal viruses and is commonly seen in children under the age of five and also it leads to blisters on several parts of the body, which are mainly red in colour. He also explained about the signs of Tomato flu such as Fever, painful sores in the mouth, a rash with blisters on hands, feet, and buttocks, tiredness, joint pain, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, high fever. He also illustrated few tips to tackle this infection like cold water bath, avoid spicy& salty food, avoid scratching the skin and have enough rest.

The aim of this campaign is to alert the public about Tomato flu and to advise hygiene and sanitization of the surroundings as the best preventive measure to avoid the Tomato Flu. Around 25 Peoples got benefitted from the activity.

 

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – AWARENESS ON DENGUE FEVER

Hebert William Henrich Association of Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized SLCS SAMAAJSEVA – an extension activity on “AWARENESS ON DENGUE FEVER” at Chettikulam village on 05/08/2022. A Student from II year FIS, S. Muthaiahraja conducted the activity. He clarified to the public that dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes in the form of fever. He explained that severe dengue was a leading cause of serious illness and death. He also illustrated that early detection of disease progression associated with severe dengue, and access to proper medical care lowers the fatality rates of severe dengue below 1%. This initiative created awareness to the public as to how it will affect the humans.

The aim of this campaign is to determine the level of knowledge and practice of dengue control amongst the public. Around 15 People got benefitted from the activity.

Webinar on “Step up for Lactation: Educate and Support”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management and Health & Nutrition Club jointly organized a Breast Feeding Week Celebration on  “Step up for Lactation: Educate and Supporton 05.08.2022 at 3p.m. through Google meet (https://meet.google.com/vsy-cnrt-oqg). Dr. Manju P.George, Chief Dietitian & Lactation Counselor, highlighted the importance of breast feeding for baby as well as the mother’s health after delivery and also she explained the dietary guidelines and a sample menu for expectant mothers and ensured that the mother produces enough milk and the baby gets enough to be fed and its importance to keep in mind the varied feeding patterns. Totally, 78 students and 18 faculty members participated and got benefited in this program. The session was interactive and the resource person answered all the queries raised by the participants related to the program. The feedback of the program was collected from the students and the analysis showed that the program was highly informative to all the students.

Key Highlights:

v  Totally, 10 students from III B.Com (Banking and Insurance) created awareness about the “Insurance Scheme and Government Scheme” among the MGNREGS workers in the village.

v  Students explained the benefits of Various Insurance Schemes and Government Schemes like, Crop Insurance, Health Insurance, Cattle Insurance, and Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana healthcare scheme.

Outcome(s) of the activity:

v  The beneficiaries had awareness on Insurance Schemes and Government Schemes.

v  The MGNREGS workers in the village appreciated the students’ and their concern to take insurance for their crop, cattle and health.

v  People asked doubts related to insurance and Government schemes. Our students clarified their doubts.

v  Students got awareness on the problems.

v  They got a comprehensive knowledge, skill and attitude to work in rural area.

Ø  Alumni shared her views ideas and information to instill.

Ø  During the meet, the alumni shared insight her experience to our students, which she had faced after stepping out of the institution.

Ø  Alumni Meet, creates a special bonding between with the students who have established themselves already in the big, outside world.

SLCS Samaj Seva(Outreach Activity)_ Awareness Program on Digital Technologies

Mr. M. Athigopal, Head- Department of Networking, along with three students from the Department of Networking, conducted an Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaj Seva) on 29/07/2022 for the benefit of the students of K.N. Nadar Primary School, Koodakovil, Madurai. Through this activity, the school students were able to understand the Digital Technologies and the good sources of Social Media and Security. Students got a lot of information on how they can reduce the risk of unsecure data in the social media. Our students created awareness  and also  specified how to  access the information up-to-date and post them in several social media with authenticity. Since, it is the basic level, the school students understood the outline of network security and its need. Totally, 50 students were benefited through this extension activity.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA –AWARENESS ON “EFFECTS OF TOBOCCO TO THE PUBLIC”

Herbert William Henrich Association of the Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an awareness program on “EFFECTS OF TOBOCCO TO THE PUBLIC” at Eliyarpathi on 28/07/2022. A Student from III year FIS, Mr. A. Rahul, conducted the activity. He created awareness on Harmful effects of Tobacco such as, premature death and long-term suffering. He also explained that it was a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, cancers and oral diseases.  This initiative created the knowledge to the public as to how it will affect humans.  The aim of this campaign is to spread the awareness regarding the harmful effects of tobacco among the users. Around 15 People get benefitted from the Activity.

Workshop on Innovative Practices in Clay Modeling

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, in association with Institution Innovation Council – SLCS organized Two Days Workshop on “Innovative Practices in Clay Modeling” on 27 & 28 July, 2022 at our college premises.

The Program started with the prayer song and Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the presidential address and the felicitation address was given by Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics.

Mr.Radhakrishnan, Freelance Sculptor, Govt. College of Fine Arts, Kumbakonam, acted as the chair Person. He was very  much skilled in Sculpting with the variety of materials like Clay, Wax, Plaster of Paris, etc. The objective of this workshop is to enable the students to learn the art of Sculpting, as a part of our culture. He briefed on the nuances, tips & techniques in Clay Sculpting. At the end of the workshop, the students were able to understand the concepts of Traditional Sculpting.  Students learned to enhance the techniques in real-time sculpting than in 3D Sculpting. Totally, 53 Students were benefitted through this program.
