Department of Languages & Institution’s Innovation Council On 17.11.2022

Department of Languages in association with SLCS- Institution’s Innovation Council organized Essay Competition and Poster Making Competition to commemorate “National Education Day 2022” with the theme Changing Course, Transforming Education” on 17.11.2022 at 11 am in S62 of our college premises. The objective of this event is to make the students understand the importance of the Education at present for the betterment of their future and to celebrate Education as a wealth that cannot be ceased.  Totally, 25 students participated in Poster Making Competition and 11 students participated in Essay Competition. The event came to an end with blissful enlightment of the students on education.

Seminar on “Innovative concepts in Exports and Imports observing Innovation Day”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, along with Institution’s Innovation Council- SLCS conducted a seminar on “Innovative concepts in Exports and Imports observing Innovation Day” on 17.11.2022.  Mr. G. Rajamurthy, Vice Chairman – Export Promotion Centre, was the chief guest.  He discussed the Global Innovation Index of various countries and the opportunities available for India to increase the GDP through Innovation. He also presented numerous examples of innovative products established through exports and imports and insisted the students to develop the ideas into innovation. He finally specified that the technology will rule the world of exports and imports through innovation in future. Totally, 53 students of I BBA, 29 Students of II BBA and 29 Students of III BBA eagerly participated in the program.

SLCS Samaaj Seva – Outreach Activity- Visit to Keezhadi Archaeological Museum observing “National Integration Day”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, conducted an Outreach Activity- Visit to Keezhadi Archaeological Museum observing “National Integration Day” on 17.11.2022. The students of I and II year BBA were involved in the visit. Mr. Venkatasubramani, President, Keezhadi Village, explained that the “National Integrity Day”, is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of the country’s first-ever female Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. He also explained that our country being Democratic, Social and Secular, every Indian should take pledge in observing unity in diversity and insisted the students to encourage people about unity, peace, love, and brotherhood. This activity was led by Dr. B. Meenakshi Sundaram. Totally, 27 students of I BBA and 25 Students of II BBA eagerly participated in this outreach activity.

Administrative Training program on “General Service Etiquettes”

      Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Administrative Training program on “General Service Etiquettes” for non-teaching staff of our college on 17.11.2022. Totally, 12 Non- teaching staff members have actively participated in the program. Mr. N. Ramesh, Asst. Professor, Department of MC&HM, explained the non teaching staff members the importance of grooming and service etiquette, which is a combination of character, style and discipline. It is to project an image of organization’s culture and ethics to our guests. It also enhances the personality of an employee, character of an organization and value of the company. This program was completed successfully to the greatest satisfaction of the participants making it a memorable experience.

Professional Training Programme on “VFX Industry-Academia Collaboration”

Department of Animation organized a Professional Training Programme on“VFX Industry-Academia Collaboration”on 16.11.2022 through Google Meet for Animation faculty members.

The programme started with the welcome address by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation. Mr. Rajan, Vice President – HR, Phantom FX Studio, Chennai,was the resource personof the event.

The objective of the event is to catalyze industry academia partnerships to prepare work ready workforce, reduce the job training cost, and make learners more employable.

He addressed that the Institution should encourage thestudents to develop &cultivate talents that meet local industry needs in the industry-academia collaboration programs. Thesekinds of program incorporate a large amount of practical training (including industry internship) through which businessmen train their future employees and international students develop their practical skills. The students will also learn more about working in a local company. After they graduate or acquire their certificate, they will be employed either by a company (most likely a local one) or in the company, at which they had their internship, making great contributions. This makes the students to develop their personality and responsibility together.

The Programme ended fruitfully and totally 5faculty members werebenefited through this program.

Activity Observing “World Thrift Day”

Consumer Awareness Club & Department of BBA conducted an activity observing “World Thrift Day” on 12.11.2022. The students of I and II year BBA visited Child & Handicapped Educational Ladies Development Society and explained the importance of savings for their sustainable development. They also donated and distributed food items to all the members of that society. The students created awareness on the importance of savings through Post Office and Banks.  This activity was lead by Dr. Kumaran Thayumanavan and Mr. B. Vairamuthu. Totally, 9 students of I BBA and 4 Students of II BBA eagerly participated in the activity.

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, conducted an Outreach Activity observing “World Immunization Day” on 12.11.2022. The students of I and II year BBA visited SWEED Trust – Aramba Sugathara Nilayam, Thirunagar, Madurai and explained the importance of immunization for their sustainable health. They also donated and distributed food items to all the members of that society. The students created awareness on the importance of immunization including Covid vaccines in the society.  This activity was lead by Dr. Kumaran Thayumanavan and Mr. B. Vairamuthu. Totally, 9 students of I BBA and 4 Students of II BBA eagerly participated in the outreach activity.

VALUE ADDED COURSE ON “ MICROSOFT MTC POWER BI ”

Department of Computer  Science( Security system Specialisation)  organised a value added course on “Microsoft MTC Power BI” for II B.Sc., (CS) students from 07.11.2022  to 11.11.2022. The  Inauguration  was  organized on 07.11.2022 at 9:30 a.m. in the seminar hall. The session started at 11:30 a.m  with the brief  introduction on importance of Power BI software and its implementation of innovative business analysis automation by the trainer Mr. M. Nagakumar Kondisetti, Dev spark IT solutions, Hyderabad.

The insights within an organizations’ data with the use of various charts and graphs using Power BI Software were analyzed. It serves as an easy way to build personalized and innovative Power BI dashboards and interactive reports. This course served as an approach to integrate innovative methods in MS – Excel with wide range of data sources and methods to extract business insights from various data handling tools like MySQL, Oracle.

SLCS Samaaj Seva – Extension Activity on “Awareness on Household savings to Women in Nedumadurai”

The Department of Commerce B.Com (Banking and Insurance), Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai conduct an SLCS Samaaj Seva – Extension Activity Program on “Awareness on House hold savings to Women” on November 10, 2022, at 11:00am in Nedumadurai Village nearby our college. The main aim of this awareness Program  is to create awareness about the Thrift and savings among the rural women. The 15 students from III B.Com (Banking and Insurance) explain the importance of thrift and savings habit among the rural women’s and also explain the various central Government and State Government savings schemes like Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Public Provident Fund (PPF), National Savings Scheme (NSC) and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY). People asked doubts related Government schemes. Our students clarified their doubts. The beneficiaries had awareness on importance of saving habit and related Government schemes.
